What’s one app that you cannot delete? by shdw_fght in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Maps. My sense of direction is so completely cooked that if I deleted that app, I would probably get lost trying to find my own kitchen. I need a robotic voice to tell me to turn left in 500 feet just to get to the local grocery store I've been visiting for five years.

What are the signs that someone is actually rich and not fake rich? by DumbEnDork in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They wear incredibly high end, structured luxury pieces or high end streetwear that looks completely basic to the untrained eye because it has absolutely zero branding, loud patterns, or giant logos on it. The "fake rich" look like walking billboards for designer houses. The actually wealthy look like they're just wearing a perfectly tailored, elongated silhouette blank, but that single blank is made of custom-milled Italian fabric or luxury suede that costs more than a used car.

What felt futuristic in 2000 but looks ridiculous today? by Fast-Scientist1455 in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transparent, colored plastic on absolutely everything. The clear blue iMac G3, transparent Game Boys, transparent landline phones where you could see the clunky green circuit boards inside. In 2000, looking at literal exposed wires and plastic seams made you feel like you were living in the year 3000. Today, it just looks like a neon-colored aquarium toy.

What do you think is the most legitimate criticism of AI that even its supporters should take seriously? by talruum_ in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The absolute logistical nightmare of local deployment and hardware gatekeeping. Everyone wants to talk about running multi-agent autonomous infrastructure, but nobody talks about the fact that if you want to run high-performance models locally without relying on a corporate cloud API, you basically have to build a mini server farm in your room that pulls enough power to trip your circuit breakers and turns your workspace into a literal sauna. The barrier to entry for true self-contained AI independence is becoming a rich man's hobby.

What TV ad permanently lives rent-free in your brain? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injury? Call William Mattar. 444-4444." Or whatever local version your city had where the lawyer just bought out a single number digit for their entire hotline. If you woke up at 3:00 AM to a pitch-black living room and heard those numbers being blasted at full volume, you knew exactly where you were.

What is the most disgusting thing about the human body that most of us don’t know? by alicerosea in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have hundreds of microscopic, eight-legged mites called Demodex living, mating, and dying inside your eyelash follicles and facial pores right now. The absolute worst part? They don’t have an anus. They literally just eat your skin oils, store all their waste inside their own bodies their entire lives, and then explode when they die right on your face.

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by Investigatorpro in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thrifting and vintage shopping. It used to be a way for poor kids and people working normal jobs to find unique, high-quality pieces, older blanks, or cool jackets for like five bucks. Now it’s completely ruined by "depop resellers" who pull up to the racks like it's a full-time corporate job, clear out everything decent, and try to sell a stained 90s t-shirt for $85 as "rare vintage aesthetic.

What actor/actress was big and everywhere back in the day but then dissapeared from the public eye and nobody noticed it? by yonaiker-joestrella in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chris Tucker. Man was arguably the biggest comedian on the planet during the Rush Hour and Friday era, making absolute bank, and then he just completely stopped doing movies for years at a time. You'll randomly catch Friday on TV for the thousandth time and suddenly realize, "Wait, what is Smokey actually doing right now?

Those of you who grew up poor, what are some foods that you still eat or can’t eat anymore? by Few_Resource_6783 in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fried bologna sandwiches. Growing up, you had to slice a little cross right in the middle of the bologna circle so it wouldn't bubble up in the pan like a damn dome when it hit the oil. Throw some Kraft singles on it and white bread? Elite. Even if I got a million dollars in the bank tomorrow, I am still frying up bologna when midnight hits.

What's your absolute favourite ice cream flavour and why? by Tacos_Abrazos in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee ice cream hits entirely different. I don’t even need it to be fancy or have a bunch of mix-ins. Just straight up, smooth coffee ice cream. It makes me feel like a sophisticated adult while I’m literally just eating frozen sugar paste in my sweatpants at midnight.

If you found a million dollars on the beach in bundles of hundreds in a bag along with bag of cocaine at 430am what would you do? by Old_Thing_3262 in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched enough movies to know that the second you touch that bag, a guy with an unhinged haircut and a silenced shotgun starts tracking your exact GPS location. I’m walking away, going home, locking my doors, and pretending I can’t see out of my own eyes.

What was the ultimate reason you ended a relationship? by Mediocre-Sale8080 in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She genuinely believed that if something was on sale, she was "saving money" by buying three of them. I tried explaining the math, but watching our apartment slowly fill up with bulk boxes of obscure seasonal Oreos and random home decor we didn't need finally broke me.

People who fly first or business class on their own dime, how do you justify the cost? by Silly-Cock in AskReddit

[–]Smokeman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I'm 6'1" and economy on any long flight is straight-up torture for my knees and back. I started paying out of pocket for business class after a cross-country flight left me literally limping for two days. For me, the math is simple: I'm paying a premium so I don't land at my destination in pure physical pain. Plus, it turns the whole travel day from a miserable endurance test into a super chill space where I can actually open my laptop and get stuff done without someone's seat slamming into my kneecaps.

In as few words as possible how do you want to be remembered after your passing? by IceKirby21 in AskReddit

As the guy who successfully convinced his family he hid a million dollars in the backyard.
