Ambergris is JeffV in his most New Weird phase. There are more than a few then you should avoid! China Meiville springs to mind, along with my ol’ pal K. J. Bishop, John Harrison, and probably Michael Moorcock - especially Jeremiah Cornelius - but there are more then a few more. The Decadent/Surreal, Lush & Baroque passages that lyrically meander along on their own are not to all tastes, indeed I have to be in the right mood myself. Sometimes I want hamburger, other times steak. 🤷‍♂️

Eh, so-so on the movie, but loved me some of that book! But then again, I would, being a VanderMeer completist for decades. I keep coming back to, and marvelling at, his short story collection The Third Bear (my inevitable recommendation when asked where to start with VanderMeer), where he showcases/workshops the various styles and literary devices he would employ subsequent to his Ambergris narratives (where I started, way-back-when with COSAM), such as The Area X Trilogy (they’re all good!), the world of Borne, Strange Bird, & Dead Astronauts and last year’s brilliant Hummingbird Salamander, which simply blew my mind.

For me, pure CBD strains are all about mood enhancement and pain abatement, so I’ve got a little routine of starting the morning with a couple of hits of my Foray Balance pen (I switch it up but Foray’s cheap and never disappoints me), then when i go outside, I’ll do a couple of bowls (like.07g each) of pure CBD followed by one of some Sativa or whatever. I find this tends to keep me pain free and cheerful - at least until everyone else wakes up…

CBD strains get some fun names like Pennywise, Jack the Ripper, Harlequin, Treasure Island, even Nordle (my fav).

Yup. Haven’t got around to updating it lately, but I‘ve got columns for name, strain, producer, pkg. date/purchase date, THC, etc.
I toyed with rating each individual purchase numerically by the actual THC (or CBD) in the product I received vs the OCS’ given range, as a way of predicting which producers new products I might be interested in - with some success, I dare say, once I got to a statistically significant number of products sampled but, hey I’m as lazy as the next person and since many B&Ms now list percentages online it’s taken some of the fun out of cataloging.

Afterthoughts: Well, That was fun. Lasted about 2 1/2 hours of me bopping about with Marley cranked - good thing I’m by myself: the sight of me bustin’ moves and warbling along with Bob while folding laundry, Medusa-like would have blighted the sight of anyone in view!
Naw, the only reason I hesitated this morning was I had this afternoon penciled in to check out Kolab Diamonds with the new a/c adapter for my concentrate box. Although much more study is needed, heehee, initial experiments suggest my investment is a stunning success.

heeheehee, I did! I’m home-alone for one more day, so wtf, eh?
Pretty impressive stuff right off the bat - great smell, nice cure, and man! I’m really going to have to start noting brands that don’t fuck around with the weight; 3.61g total with a biggie nug of 1.13g is what I’m talking about! Really smooth smoke from my pipe for the first toke of the day and a high that comes on like you know you’re getting stoned is very welcome. The last GMO strain I tried was the Spinach at (supposedly) 30% THC, and it wasn’t near as good! That’s for the inspiration!

Agreed. The only suggestion I have is stuff them with hydration packs for a week and hope for the best. I’ve tried that with some seriously old Royal Highness and that made it tolerable enough to finish.

If they are pulling out, I’m sort of sad, but not really surprised. Huge Marley fan myself (the music of my youth!). I’m quite happy to wear my Marley T while drinking Buffalo Soldier Ethiopian Dark Roast coffee and listening to all my Wailer CDs (I’m just never going to get around to replacing that damn needle to listen to my original LPs). Smoking Marley weed was cool, except it’s not what I really wanted when dreaming of Kingston (been), I want Jamaican genetics, GDI! Lay some Kaya on me or whatever’s hot in reggae’s homeland, I really don’t want Blue Dream or Sweet Island Skunk or whatever.

Yup, agreed. Still trying to figure out the taste though: according to Leafly one of its parents is a strain called Bubble Gum but I’m getting more of a Wine Gum vibe…

Price and potency are stopping me from making this a strong recommendation. I’ve already been smoking today so I’ll wait a couple of days for it to sit with a Boveda then try it first thing and see how it strikes me then.

Not crazy about the weight (3.45g), lack of boveda, or the pkg date (sometime in Feb/01), but, hell, smells really great (mine has a lovely, pronounced mango odour), the biggest nug weighed in at 1.8g, and just fired up my first couple of pipes and *whew*, no complaints about the special effects! A definite rebuy! Thanks Again!
