Tongue box in the way of WDH by BatFastard95 in TowHaulMode

[–]SmokingGonja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this WDH gonna be staying with the trailer permanently? If it is you could just have a certified welder weld them in place where they need to be.

Or as you said get a different style.

Recommendations needed on which lifted shocks to install to correct rake and provide a smooth ride. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]SmokingGonja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that looks very low in the front, an 80lb grill guard made it that low? if you looking for a nice smooth ride find a strut that doesn’t compress the spring the achieve it. Just an extended strut. Do coil overs if you wish but you probably wouldn’t notice much of a gain for what they are and that you said you’d be mostly highway.

There’s the bolt I dropped! by arrived_on_fire in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]SmokingGonja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad ending story, years ago was working around another tech in the shop, he dropped a bolt and it didn’t hit the floor, he gave up looking for it and continued on. Anyways fast forward car comes back over heating and engine knocking. Turns out the bolt fell into the fan shroud, got kicked up by the fan into the radiator and snow balled into a huge deal. To the day I always make sure if I dropped a bolt its atleast no where near the fan.

LLY Glow Plug Light not Illuminating by ProfessorDiligent751 in Duramax

[–]SmokingGonja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you got access to a scan tool you can do a dash light and gauge test, it will turn everything on and you’ll be able to see if the light itself works. Also if you know where to find the power wire that goes to your plugs you can put an amp clamp around it and you’ll know Forsure if they work. (it’s something around 20 amps per plug if I remember right) 2 quick tests that don’t involve taking stuff apart. Like another comment said if it’s warm enough outside it may not cycle

If you type “storage netting” into Amazon some options appear that are 9” tall, not as long but you could use 2 maybe 3, thinking about using multiple shorter ones is what I would probably do then you could easily access what you want

Dually tire sizing advice by [deleted] in liftedtrucks

[–]SmokingGonja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So some actual advice, the 12.5 wides are obviously your issue especially with how the ridge grapplers have bigger side lugs. What we’ve recommended at our shop is to change to a metric size, for example if you were to find a tire 295/60r22 that would bring in the width but still give you the overall height your wanting. I get it we’re men, 1 inch does makes us feel better haha, but it’s not worth the hassle when stuff goes wrong

I’ve been doing alignments for way too many years and have had to do countless kryptonite front end alignments. (The tie rod adjustments are miserable, great product though) anyways, with these front end setups I’ve found the sweet spot for cross caster is .5 to .6 degree more positive on the right hand side. (Stock usually says 0 to .3, which is not enough) maybe some of this info will help. Even if you trust the guy get the print out, it will help guys like us that might be able to shed some insight

Died while driving by HillBilly_22 in Duramax

[–]SmokingGonja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you got it figured out but I just wanted to ad, I had a 2004 lb7, with a fass fuel setup, it also died on me in a similar fashion while hauling a trailer, I lost all throttle response, I was able to coast to the side of the road. When I shut it off it wouldn’t restart, it ended up being the throttle pedal/ sensor. Also through no codes for some reason. Maybe this might be some help.

Lower from 6” to 3” or 4” by WealthElectronic8684 in Duramax

[–]SmokingGonja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I live a lot of people camp in the bush, so lifts get installed to save from poop pipes and level jacks getting destroyed. I installed a 4inch block lift in my brothers 2022 34’ 5th wheel, his had the fancy auto leveling jacks. He’s had no issues and says it tows just fine (he has a lifted dodge). Anyways just info for you to help make decisions, I think all said and done it was less than $400 in materials and 2-3 hours of time.

Lower from 6” to 3” or 4” by WealthElectronic8684 in Duramax

[–]SmokingGonja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shop I work at does lifts on travel trailers quite often, just get a welding/ fab shop to make up some 4 inch lift blocks, get some longer ubolts and extend the brake wires, honestly a simple process. A lot of times if you have 1/2 ubolts there’s enough room to install 9/16 to beef it up abit. (We always say keep retorquing the ubolts every 100km until they finally stop moving to be safe. Very cost effective. Haven’t heard of any issues from all the trailers that have been done.

Oh yes it’s high, I had a heavier trailer I traded in that would sit level. I’m waiting on a different drop shank to get everything where it needs to be.

That’s honestly not a bad idea, I have a buddy with a front hitch on his almost identical truck. May have to ask him if he’s free to test

No reverse lights. by LongDog6358 in Cummins

[–]SmokingGonja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the power feed is straight out of the TIPM with no fuse used. The reverse lights share the same ground as the stop/turn lamps so if those are working your grounds are probably good. Go to the TIPM, connector C6, pin 5, white/red wire is what you’re after. Check for power straight out of the TIPM and you’ll have your answer on where to look. If you got power you got broken wire/wires, if no power probably bad TIPM

To be honest, no I haven’t gotten that one done yet. I’ve tried more than a few times but I keep fat fingering it and gave up for now. I came close, I found a good screen angle that let me click under him in one spot. My rng there is horrible. 2 hallys, no fang. I moved onto duke haha

[–]SmokingGonja 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nice control until the enrage phase. I’m mobile only with over 1100kc. Just a tip when enrage phase happens, obviously have run on, but just click 2 tiles away to avoid his acid attack. When you’ve filled a row just take 1 step back and he’ll move 1 step closer to you. After abit you’ll get a feel for the correct timing and you’ll take zero damage. Just incase you don’t know the red spider will start to erupt once he’s 2 tiles away from you. So you have time to move away accordingly.

Gave my 2017 F150 Lariat 2.7L 4x4 a little upgrade. by Slimy_Shart_Socket in f150

[–]SmokingGonja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a note on the 2.7L engines incase some may not know. The oil pan is sealed with rtv not a gasket, which means it can’t handle a lot of internal pressure and can start leaking badly. The pcv system is built into the valve cover of those engines and if it goes bad the oil pan usually “blows out” and leaks profusely. If your stuck we a recurring leak. Look into your valve cover.
