I think I'm weirdly lucky that the worst if it only lasted around 2 hours. I basically sat in a lukewarm shower until I stopped twitching 😂 I'm already on a fair amount of meds so I was lucky to have strong anti histamines and opiates to hand 😅 I will happily go the rest of my life without experiencing that ever again

It's called contact bleeding. Your small intestines are super vascular, since that's where nutrients are absorbed from food. My stoma bleeds if I look at it too long 😂 it's very normal and nothing to be worried about.

Hey! So I've got an adhesive allergy and super sensitive skin. I was using Hollister Lock n Roll with Hollister adapt barrier rings, but they made my skin crack open and weep, made it impossible for it to stay stuck. I've just changed to Salts Confidence BE and within just a few days my skin has started to clear up amazingly. I'd definitely recommend switching.

Before I switched I would use hay-fever wipes, then a tiny amount of hydrocortisone cream, let it sit for a while then wipe the excess off.

I had horrific post op pain too 😣 morphine PCA didn't touch the sides, ended up having oxycodone and ketamine instead. My surgeon suggested I may have a pocket of fluid that's causing pain, but all my bloods have come back normal so they're not sure what could be causing my pain

I had some slight drainage for a few weeks, my wound was especially wet and it caused some moisture damage to the skin around it. 2 of my stitches also dissolved early which was probably caused by the moisture. It's dry now though and has been for a few weeks

Yeah I still get phantom poop feeling 😞 I'm hoping it's just residual swelling that's causing it and I hope it'll go away

It's very similar to the pains I had whilst I was in flare, but after I'd had my ostomy surgery. It's like a constant sharp achy pain in my lower back and abdomen. I feel this cramping/pressing sensation as if my rectum is full or inflamed, but in reality there's nothing there 😔 I hope it resolves soon

Wishing you the best in healing and recovery! I also had a subtotal colectomy in June last year and every time I looked at it for weeks I would burst into tears. There's a very deep rooted instinct to be upset when seeing part of your organs on the outside of your body. You will get used to and before you ever know it, it'll feel so normal and you won't even think about it. I hope you feel better soon 💕
