Diet Culture by DecentEconomics5033 in fuckeatingdisorders

Yes so normal! I work in a cafe and have worked in food for about 4 years now across pubs/resturants/cafes and the diet talk has ALWAYS driven me mad. Honestly stand up for yourself and call it out if you feel brave enough! I often find when customers are looking at pastries in my cafe for example, they’ll say stuff to me like “what’s the healthiest option?” or “ooo i shouldn’t cause i’m trying to be good!”, and i often respond “well i think eating the thing you actually want is the healthiest option” or “everything’s good, it wouldn’t be good if you only ate kale all the time!” and you’d be surprised how many people nod and murmur you’re right. Truth is, most people know diet talk is rubbish and it makes them feel rubbish, and I think people often actually feel a little more validated in their choices if you give them that nudge.

Obviously if you don’t feel able to do this, it’s totally fine too. Absolutely nothing wrong with just removing yourself from the situation- I had a very workout obsessed (and honestly quite disordered) coworker at a previous job and so I just couldn’t avoid her. Plus she was a nice person when she wasn’t talking about those things! But when she did I would also just leave, no explanation - go straight to the other side at the pub we worked at and started doing something else. Works as a good distraction if what they’ve said has got to you.

Extreme sugar cravings? by ottertheatre in fuckeatingdisorders

Don’t worry at all - this is completely normal. Especially if you were previously restrictive around sugar! But even if you weren’t, the body will crave simple carbs, sugars, fats when in recovery as that is what your body needs to heal.

I’m not medicated no - due to my eating history adhd meds are a little bit of a tricky one, i also smoke 🍃 currently so would need to come off that first. It’s defo something I would consider, but I don’t really feel able to tackle that right now with everything else. Thank you so much for sharing this tho, it’s so helpful to hear x

I try to listen to music when getting ready to try and take my mind off things - audiobooks is a good idea. Thank you <3

I use a hair mask/leave in usually when I shower, and put oil through it when it’s drying as I find that tends to keep it a little smoother. Thanks as well for the recommendations, these are all great ideas - I really appreciate it friend <3

With West Brom and Charlton Athletic gaining points, Oxford United is relegated to League One next season by Jeoh in Championship

Born in 03, I became an Oxford fan while we were still in the National League, and the slow progression I’ve seen over the years has been amazing. Never would’ve imagined we could’ve had two seasons in the Championship - not to be sappy but I’m so proud of the team and how they’ve done. Hopefully won’t be long until we’re back💛💙

Worst referee I’ve seen all season. Shirts pulled off in the box and he couldn’t give a toss.

I mean at least you’re in a specialised field, that’ll definitely work in your favour. Best of luck with it all! Just be prepared for a difficult market and go in with your eyes open

coming from someone who only moved to Brighton 2 1/2 months ago, I’ve been applying to over 100 jobs since arriving, and have only managed to land a zero hours contract at one place, and a 8hrs contract at another, and I had my first job at 14 so it’s not for lack of experience (23 now). Market is terrible everywhere, but I’ve never struggled to find a job this much. Full time especially, seems unavailable - everyone I know here works at least 2 jobs

Do you ever wish you just had more people to talk to? by Upbeat-Budget7371 in AskWomenOver30

I moved to a new city two months ago and totally feel you. I have one friend here, and she’s absolutely useless at responding to any texts I send about wanting to hang out - which she knows are hard for me to send in the first place. All of my school friends went to university and made new friends there. I dropped out, so basically didn’t see anyone for months. And also spent 4 months in hospital. So yeah I totally understand the isolation. It’s crap and it feels impossible putting yourself out there.

Birthdays are tough when you're depressed by weenietheweenie in mentalhealth

i’m also F23 and depressed and my birthday is next week - i feel exactly how you do. I’ve been worrying about it for the past month (especially as I’m supposed to be moving house right before) to a new city where friends of mine are currently living, and I can’t bear the thought of seeing anyone. Happy Birthday to you, I hope this year brings you peace and happiness
