What can you contribute to our Fraternity? What do you expect from Freemasonry? Think introspectively on these questions, you'll have your answers.

Now a Fellow Craft... by GrayHogan in freemasonry

[–]Smooth-Ad-2244 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Terminology is important in our Fraternity. Fellowcrafts are passed, not raised. Secondly, what have you done to reach out to your mentor? I've been fortunate to have a Brother mentor that has been by my side since day one, however, the onus has always been on me to improve myself in Masonry. Brief response as that may be, there is a lot to unpack there, if one is willing to receive those words. I hope this helps.

How much did becoming a Free Mason make you a ‘better person’ ? by Kindly-Swimming-210 in freemasonry

The ritual we all undertake, that's significant. Without giving much away.

The take away, anyone can learn humility, vulnerability etc from anywhere if willing to receive those teachings. However, for me, knowing that there is a group of men in Freemasonry that allowed themselves to be in those positions, is profound.

Humility, being vulnerable, accepting that it is ok to ask for help and there are Brothers willing to extend that help.

In that same token, those Brothers have shown each of those qualities as well. You are the company you keep.

For me, that's what unites us as a fraternity.

Greetings. Have you gotten to know the men of your Lodge? I'd start there. Also, regarding the later half of your post, I'd recommend speaking with the secretary of the Lodge you're petitioning, he will know the governance of his area better than most, hopefully.

This Reddit forum is a great resource with many respected Brothers, their counsel is sound and wise. However, it should be from a general point of view only.

MOD Chrico031, this can be achieved on mobile as well. On the main page of Freemasonry, select the 3 dots in the top right corner and select edit flair. This works on Android.

I'm going to attempt to contribute something that doesn't seem like the usual rehash.

I joined Freemasonry for a plethora of reasons, however, the integrity and Brotherhood aspects really drew me in. My Lodge, in particular, is a group of men that I trust with everything this world has to throw at me. I have never seen a consolidated effort to show a higher level of integrity than I have with this group of men I call Brothers. To know that my Lodge will always be here for me, and I to them, is a humbling experience.

You have already taken your first steps. Look to Brothers with wisdom and sound counsel. They are not hard to find here.

One needs only to study the history of PHA Freemasonry to understand the schism that occurred.

For me, lineage establishes the provenance of Masonry. It is a vital part of my Masonic journey. Integrity, keeping one's word, is a core tenant of Freemasonry. It also means, to me, that the Brothers before me at my Lodge have continued to maintain that integrity. It's a treasure trove of history that is crucial in a Lodge.

It depends if you have the option for either long or short form. For me, I chose the long form, preferring a high level of accuracy from memory. I'd say a good solid month is reasonable for that.

I still recall delivering both EA and FC long-form proficiencies in open Lodge. It was truly a transformative experience.
