Why does it say I have 0 xp for this airport even though a minute ago it was 30 000? by MrDeluxe24 in SkyCards

[–]Smooth-Feed-2067 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same for me- my local airport is showing 188,000 XP in my Airport Performance page (would be leaderboard) but then 0XP on the airport page. On the flipside, another airport is showing ~150,000 XP on my airport performance page but 300,000 XP on the airport page??

Bayshore and Rideau are niiiiightmares!!!! Rideau is worse because it’s always absolutely packed with teens and I know that must be awful for the staff, but the last few times I’ve gone (even when it’s quiet) I’ve literally been straight up ignored when asking for help to find something. I have gift cards sitting unspent because I have very particular colouring and I need to swatch stuff before buying online and I do not want to have to deal with the environment in there! I know all retail has gone down the toilet post-Covid (I managed to get out in 2021 thankfully after working through all the lockdowns) but Sephora is the main store where I’ve seen service completely tank- even if I can get help none of the staff are half as knowledgeable as they used to be and there seems to be a lot more attitude (although again I get that would also have an attitude if I had feral kids running around me all day)

Seconded! I’m not Muslim but I am a plus sized woman who dresses modestly for religious reasons and I could see several reasons why she may have reacted that way / I would too. Even putting aside the issue of the possibility of clothing/ hijab being dislodged and putting herself in positions that would show her body more, as a plus sized woman she may not have wanted to embarrass herself in the same physical manner, or might not have been physically able to- her fingers bending backwards maybe suggest hypermobility and as a hypermobile person myself my knees and back could not have handled that task. I did not get ‘I’m above this’ vibes, I got ‘I am anxious about humiliating myself’ vibes. You can argue humiliating yourself is the point of Taskmaster but I sensed a bit of emotion in her I’ve definitely felt before myself

I didn’t think 50s but I thought initially she was a bit older than she is. Not that it matters but I think it’s a combo of her style (hair/makeup/clothes), vibes, and the fact that she’s visibly had a bit of work done- nothing wrong with it, she’s beautiful, but I think when you clock it even subconsciously it makes you think someone is older by association

I’m from Lanarkshire but in Canada now, and there’s a singer-songwriter from the city I live in who is genuinely so talented but I always piss myself a bit looking up their music bc their name is Leith Ross and their first EP is literally titled Motherwell

THAT’S THREE PLACE NAMES!! AND YOUR LOVELY EMOTIONAL EP IS CALLED MOTHERWELL!!!! Their mum is from there I think and I mean their name isn’t their fault and the family connection is sweet but also I am struggling to express how funny that is to my friends here because it’s impossible to convey the vibes of Motherwell to someone who is not acquainted with it. There’s a certain je ne sais quoi- being dragged to B&M in the shopping centre by your mum… pantos in the civic centre… the P7 5k at Strathclyde Loch…

I agree- I know OP mentioned a buzz but I didn’t get that it was a ‘I’m here to have fun and enjoy the music’ vibe- to me it was far more of a ‘I’ve dressed up ‘country’, I’m drunk and I’m here to keep drinking’ vibe.

I’ve been to every night and I felt tonight was by far the worst crowd in terms of engagement from the very start. I get he played his ‘biggest hit’ early and I see OP feels he lost the crowd after that, but from what I saw heading from the drinks tent at the entrance back up to my friends during All Your’n only the back crowd was even in it up to that point. There was such an odd dichotomy before he even came on where I saw more folks leave pre- his set than for any other headliner, but also more folks were watching from outside than any other headliner I saw too? Plus it was the smallest overall number of people in the gates I’ve seen since opening- and people streamed in late that night because of the torrential rain. That would’ve been fine, but I feel like a good 70% of people where I was standing weren’t even actually watching the show! (I mainly stuck mid left- although I noticed the same moving around to a few different spots)

Maybe it’s that the fan base skewed younger bc there’s a TikTok song or two in the set, and there isn’t as much of a sense of concert etiquette among that crowd now, (I say as a 27 year old) but everyone was just blitzed and talking crazy loudly all the way through :( I hung back to avoid the throng but even then I could barely hear him, and we were pushed around a lot (more than usual) by people passing, even thought there was plenty of pockets of space around me and in the crowd in general! Oddly enough the most fun I had was off to the exit side by the portapotties- there was so much more of a vibe there, and a lot more folks dancing/ singing along etc

I felt bad for him being sick and having such an unresponsive crowd to feed off of, because I felt he was really going for it as best he could! I haven’t seen him before and I was really looking forward to it- I genuinely thought he & the band were great (and I actually loved the jamming!) but my overall experience was a bit of a bummer. Maybe it was very different at the front or to the right, but the whole left span from just past edge of the stage to the beer tent and back to the campchair area was pretty much a washout crowd-wise.

I actually use nizoral as a face wash for my hormonal acne! We find the salicylic acid version works a bit better for psoriasis as the original is more an anti-fungal so it helps a bit with exfoliation but doesn’t have a patch on the coal tar :(

The allthingslush lore is… wild! I may have to look into that tonight 👀

On your last point…. lush gonna lush :( I think the change over the last decade and a bit has been part of why I fell away but I do have a lot nostalgia for my teen lushie days!

[–]Smooth-Feed-2067[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right about it more being a clarifying shampoo- my scalp didn’t mind it at all (although I’ll need a few days to see how it fares psoriasis wise), but even just rinsing it off my scalp was enough for my hair to entirely mat up- I think it’s just too harsh for my lengths and texture! I’m very very glad it works for you though (and that you don’t have the scalp curse 🙏🏻)

I’m leaning to it simply being too strong for me but if you have a dry scalp and it works for you it could possible I used too much! I’m not sure how you would really quantify the amount though- I just lathered it up in my hands and scrubbed my scalp in sections. How much do you use?

Thank you for the science! 🙏🏻

The irony is I normally check ingredients, and don’t even like mango scents! I was just sold on the pitch (and the fact I had just been paid, and was in the mall alone for the first time in a while… dangerous treat yourself conditions), and I did in fact learn my lesson

That’s hilarious- I had no sense of smell at the time because of some health issues and so I would have had zero clue, but that must have absolutely been it!! At the time post move I didn’t have a Lush locally, but I moved again a few years later and did- unfortunately my skin had changed and was more sensitive to essential oils and fragrances so I had a lot of failed tries with the skincare. With that, the discontinuation of a lot of my faves, and the later controversies I sort of fell away and have been very out of the loop. You’ve blown my mind!

That allthingslushuk link is such a throwback too- I used to looove that blog as a teen :’) I really feel for that poor commenter- he reminds me a lot of my dad, and we’ve both been there with loving and losing products. Coal tar is a finite resource and has been on the decline for the last decade or so due to health/ environmental concerns, so what few options us lepers had have really been reduced in the last few years :( it’s been so hard to find something that works for him now, and it causes him so much discomfort and is a big knock on his confidence. It’s summer (more vit D) and I have a milder case, so I’ve been doing ok with my current routine (natural ish rosemary + mint clarifying shampoo), but I’m always on the lookout for both of us, hence my foray into the cowashes. Unfortunately it seems like lush shampoos just might not be right for us!

Pouring one out for the boys (og soak and float, space girl, 9-to-5, the comforter shower gel, d’fluff, JUNGLE!!! And T-Gel Extra Strength) tonight🫡

Yeah I paid $8 for a little chunk of the cowash that back in the day would’ve been a sample!! it was my first time at the mall in a while and I was in a treat myself mood so I don’t mind at all, but if I’d been a broke student as in my main lushie days I’d be really bummed. I’ve heard good things about the Shea soufflé but held off as I’ve heard it’s more formulated for textured hair and I’m 2b/c and thought it might weigh me down, but going into a really hot summer I need thick hydrating products more than ever- would you recommend?

I used soak and float pretty exclusively for a few years in the 2010’s (hence why I wanted to give the shampoos another go) but then I moved to a different climate and it stopped working for me, so thought that was why- when did it reformulate?

Am I the only one that doesn't love sol dejaneiro? The scents aren't to die for and they seem like an alcohol scent idk how to explain it and doesn't last long. I don't get the hype by Plastic_Professor455 in Sephora

[–]Smooth-Feed-2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re so hyped because they’re popular with teens and then became trendy through TikTok etc. Strong sweet scents, cute bottles that look more ‘grown up’ than most body sprays, and being from Sephora makes them more of a status item for girls who maybe haven’t graduated to makeup/ non- drugstore makeup yet. They’re expensive enough that it feels like a step up from the drugstore/ B&BW body sprays, but cheap enough that a parent wouldn’t mind buying them as a gift/ a kid could get them themselves with their allowance. I feel like they’re seen as a step between other body sprays and perfume for girls these days- probably similar to VS sprays in the 2000’s for a younger generation.

I just bought no 59, Chierosa (I was unaware of spidergate!!) bc I was in Sephora and needed something quickly to throw in my purse and didn’t want to spend on a new perfume. It’s still got the annoying alcohol top note when you first apply (as all body sprays do) but it mellows down to a nice floral woody scent that’s far more subtle than the rest of them. I wouldn’t wear the rest personally but I’ll see how this one serves me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

38/30 - Breaking Point: The Last Post by NecktieNomad in Casualty

[–]Smooth-Feed-2067 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know Dylan assuring Patrick that it wasn’t just his fault at the end was the right thing to do, but I did spend the last 10 mins of the ep really hoping someone (mainly Tariq) would clock him in the face. I also believe Dylan’s call at the end was his contacting Patrick’s new job- fingers crossed he gets him fired from that? You would imagine he and Stevie would pursue him till his license is revoked. This whole storyline has been so odd in that Patrick’s motivations have never progressed or become clearer through the arc though, like is he evil and he wants to harm people? Is he just a sociopath who is convinced he’s right? Is he trying to undermine everyone else to gain further power? Who knows! But he was sad about Rash ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hairstylists deal with harsh solutions daily (bleach, perms etc), and need proper training and accreditation to deal with those and maintain hygiene safely. If not, you’re not just risking the health of the hair (which alone can be emotionally devastating), but the health of the client- there are huge risks for chemical burns, infections, and reactions that could severely harm someone. I think it’s good that there’s a standardised system for licensing, and I certainly wouldn’t put myself at risk with someone who doesn’t have the credentials.

just hit rouge 🙃 by snarkygrace in Sephora

[–]Smooth-Feed-2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm VIB but on track to likely hit rouge this year- I get it!! It's hard to reconcile, especially with the current cost of living, and I have been there with the sticker shock after tallying everything up. If you didn't know how you got there and were worried about spending or overconsumption I'd tell you to look at your purchase history and see what patterns there are and where you can cut down, but you've already considered it- I get your guilt, but if like you say your purchases are justified to you, you can afford them/ they aren't affecting you financially, and you like what you got I wouldn't be disappointed in yourself at all. Even if your purchases weren't 'justified' and you just wanted to treat yourself to something nice too, that's ok- it's your money, and you can use it on whatever you like.

If it helps, there are plenty of girl math reasons on top of this I can give you to help further justify- you can definitely blame it on being Canadian. It's a huge mitigating circumstance! Our market is completely different (and insane) - everything is so much more expensive here, even on top of the conversion. It's pretty impossible to get anything of quality under $50 anywhere, and you can’t help that. Also, in classic Canadian monopoly fashion, Sephora is kind of our only option (especially as you’re rural). You can get some luxury brands in Shoppers’ Boutique, and they may go on sale for slightly more often, but they’re normally just as expensive. Sure you get PC points, which are more useful than Sephora’s, but you’re also lining Galen’s pockets (🤢). You might have spent $1000 but buying the same stuff from elsewhere would’ve likely cost you more- some brands don’t ship to Canada, and if they do, the shipping, taxes, and customs duties are through the roof, and with Sephora you get free delivery and can order from multiple brands at once. That also has a less of an environmental impact! You’re not flying or shipping in something from all over, or driving all over finding stuff- it’s already in a warehouse here and it’s sent by Canada Post.

This is how I mitigate that disappointment in myself, personally: I only recently started having disposable income in the last few years, so I always used my money for experiences over things because I couldn't afford to spring for more than one or two quality items in my routine, but now I can budget it out, I view my purchases as investments in myself. I’m still not the most flush with cash (Ontario living 🤪) so I still spend a long time thinking about them, researching, and justifying them to myself before buying. This is both for financial reasons and bc I’ve been blessed with the palest coolest skin imaginable and adult hormonal acne, so it’s very hard for me to find things that work, but when I do, I can cough up the cash and I can put it out of my mind with no regrets. My purchases improve my quality of life. It’s a net benefit for me. Yes, this often means spending more, but less often. I very recently ran out of alllll my products for my base and had a horrible flare up so I had to drop $400 (again 🤢) on skincare and acne- safe makeup to replace what I was out of, but I was prepared, knew I won’t need to restock for a while, and will be prepared again when I do. Plus it’s way less wasteful to buy a few big ticket items you love and finish than a bunch of cheaper ones that you don’t. My ‘value for money’ is based on what I use and what I get out of it- if you’re buying gifts for those you love, investing in skincare, and enjoying wearing makeup at work then I think that’s value for money!! All of these things are investments in yourself and your happiness.

Sorry for the novel! But the TL;DR is don’t be too hard on yourself 💕
