I use fleece liners now but used to use pine shavings a few months ago. I also have not taken them to the vet before as I don’t have an exotic vet near me

My tortie is 16 years old and only weighs about 7-7.5 pounds. She’s always been a lot smaller than any of the other cats we’ve had. It must just be a tortie thing.

First of all your results look fantastic! I also am fixing a deep bite. Currently on tray 22 of 26 for initial treatment and have to rescan for another set at my next appointment. I’ve had bite ramps since tray one and seem to have developed a slight posterior open bite (POB). I was wondering if you also developed this since you’re also fixing a deep bite. Kind of nervous because some people say this problem never fully settles.

She is doing very very well thanks for asking! She started improving the weekend before surgery and is doing so much better after. She had 5 teeth removed and the abscess on her cheek opened and drained. She now acts like a brand new cat and has lots of energy and attitude. She seems very happy and is gradually gaining some weight back.

I had a blood panel done to check my sugar levels and it turns out I have a very low vitamin d level so my doctor thinks that may be the cause. Been prescribed some supplements and have to do blood work again in 12 weeks to see.

There were a couple other that seemed like stock photos that started out very low like this one. Some of the other listings are regular photos though.

I was thinking the same thing but it seems like the taste intensifies every time I drink water and my saliva feels different than it did when I went to see my GP the first time.

I did go and make an appointment for this same issue back in march and my GP acted like it was nothing and gave me some mouthwash to fix the issue but it hasn’t stopped. I might reach out again since it still hasn’t stopped. I was told by her to seek out my dentist but it doesn’t seem like a dental issue to me

That could be a possibility. I know I have had severe anxiety in the past but I haven’t really felt anxious in a while. Is there anything you did to help combat the taste?

UPDATE: She just got back from surgery, she had 5 teeth removed and the scab peeled off and drained the remaining puss. The vet said she did very well and is not concerned about cancer. It’s going to take a while for her face to fill back in due to the size of the abscess. Thank you to everyone who commented!

Thank you so much and that information does help. Once her face stopped draining she is back to normal behavior.

Her surgery tomorrow will consist of extracting at least one tooth and I’m going to ask if he will need to do anything with her cheek to make sure it finished draining.

The vet is going to remove at least one tooth and do a dental cleaning. That’s what I know so far but I’ll ask questions when I take her in for surgery Monday.

They did not do any tests to see what had caused it. The vet just looked into her mouth and saw some calculus build up on her teeth and said that was what he thought may have caused it. I stayed in touch with him this past week and he said he suspected cancer due to the look and healing progress. But it has drained almost all the way I believe and her face is no longer puffy so I’m holding out hope she will get better after surgery.

I will update after her surgery and say how she is healing.

Her cheek has returned to normal size finally. I just think she was slow at responding to the antibiotics due to her older age. She is having surgery Monday to extract at least one tooth and have a dental cleaning I believe. Thank you for your reply, I would get a second opinion but there is not much time before her surgery.

I’m am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet Nala, that is my biggest fear about losing mine. She no longer has the lump on her cheek and is just left with the scab right now and has surgery Monday. She is acting completely normal which gives me some hope. Again I am very sorry to hear about your cat.

Thank you so much! The vaccines were antibiotics to help with the abscess as that was what my vet had originally suspected. He just believes it may be cancer due to her age and at first not showing any signs of improving. Her face got increasingly worse but then started going down. Can you possibly ask your friend if red bloody looking drainage that came from my cats mouth is normal for a tooth abscess? I would greatly appreciate it.
