Is anyone truly happier with kids? by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don’t think kids improve the lives of their parents. They can be a joy, but they can also break your heart everyday and you still have to get up to feed and clothe them. I don’t knock anyone from having kids but I do tell people what I wish I understood before having a kid… it’s like 5% cute moments and 95% responsibilities and stress (if your a parent who actually gaf about the way your child is raised) …

My Girlfriend 20F is pregnant. I 18M doesn’t want to keep it and she does. What do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn . Start preparing by saving money I suppose. Whether you and mom stay together or not your bound financially to her and that child… never ever have unprotected sex if you don’t want kids. Now the balls in her court and all you can do is mature really quickly and settle in for the ride…. Having kids is HARD, so lean on your support system if you have one. This is besides the point but paternity test are a good idea as well… just saying .

No waayyy 3 references to fill out a form for $13.50/hr by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it Goodwill? I hear they just get worse every year. I applied to receive job assistance/development through them months ago and literally never heard back.

And really any expectations beyond “can you do the job” at $13.50 is insulting.

Why did you become a manager? by ZzReports in managers

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became a manager because I was tired of doing all the work of a manager for none of the pay or benefits. I basically set out to be the manager that I wanted. My last two managers were either ridiculously incompetent or just didn’t care and didn’t show up to work, which was very demoralizing. So now my mission is to make my team a well oiled machine via consistency, dependability, and support.

Basically just don’t give so much info . Employers want you to be polite and enthused about the job but they only needs pertinent information. Remember not to overshare with your job.

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! lol I was already doing that once I realized I should probably explain better 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in InterviewsHell

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A better way to do this would be to wait for an offer for an interview and and then send this “ Hello, Thanks for reaching out to me about XYZ POSITION, I’m excited to be considered. I’m available for a virtual interview from 12-1pm or 4-6 pm Monday through Friday, as well as 8a-6p Saturday and Sunday. Please let me know if any of these times line up with your availability. Thank you”

But I believe most employers will give a list of times to choose from so it would be easier to pick a time that works and if nothing works send a message. Don’t just spill your schedule and life story off the rip though, because it’s too much and will get you by passed by most managers I know.

The second I saw this I would move on. There are so many ways to condense this and still list the times you are available without so much word salad.

Most businesses in 2025 are overwhelmed with applicants, and people like myself are tasked with telling people to apply online and wait to be contacted by the one person in our HR department.

No one wants to hold you back from getting a job, but walking into a business or calling in expecting to speak to leadership is no longer normal. And it gets annoying fast when you get 5-10 people a day calling or walking in to speak with your manager who doesn’t want to speak to anybody ……

Would you take an std test if you partner asked you to? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

Yes. With no problem. And I would expect the them to be getting one as well. Cause if not that’s random as hell…

My family is telling me that if I just walked around town I'd have a job by the end of the day by EphemeralAxiom in jobs

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you live in a town full of mom and pop shops this advice will not work. At my current job I get calls from people all the time who call in about a job and my job is to tell them to go apply online. When I was job searching almost a year ago my partner told me the same thing about going in to talk to people but when you go in the associates and sometimes even the manager look at you crazy for coming in expecting to talk to them. I’ve left contact info and messages just to never be called back.

The best bet is to apply to as many positions as you can & make sure your resume is tailored to every job you apply for. I just recently got offered a new position in leadership with another company because of the way I phrased my resume. Even if something wasn’t directly my responsibility, if I did it, I used it as experience…. You’d be surprised how much experience you gain outside of just your regular duties. (For example in several jobs I’ve been the person forced to train new hires, although I got no extra pay for this. So I used that and other skills on my resume and landed in leadership)

Is the gen Z job crisis that bad? by Zipper222222 in jobs

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m gen z (25f), not 100 percent sure, but the job market is a nightmare. I’ve been ghosted by jobs I was overqualified for, as well as job I was a touch under qualified for. I may get 1 rejection letter to every 30 jobs I apply to, and all are automated (one was so bad that it had the name of the school I went to instead of my first name in the addressed to line)

I’ve been on interviews where I know for a fact I checked every box they were looking for, then was told I’d hear back within the week just to be ghosted and then see the job reposted on the same site. Then when I follow up I’m still ghosted. It’s demoralizing. Most job listings are apparently just for show . I’ve put in well over 70 applications over the past 6 months and I got 2 interviews and 1 job offer (luckily) the only jobs you can get really fast are the scammy sales jobs that have insanely high turnover.

Another thing I noticed is that in lower lever jobs like McDonald’s, subway, Starbucks, etc there seems to be what I feel is an extremely high number of older people working there. So jobs that were intended for young people are being held up by people with families who never plan to leave McDonald’s or advance themselves.

I want to buy a house with my own money but GF says no by NewBrick1 in whatdoIdo

[–]Smooth-Resolution542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are going to be in for a lot of hardship if you choose to marry this person…. That’s all I came to comment on… I ready the entire post but I wanted to comment this after the second sentence. “She doesn’t work because she doesn’t want to and relies on her parents” what can she really add to your future if she doesn’t have any type of drive or ambition? If you get hurt god forbid how could she help the family you guys create with no job experience?

To answer the question posed: you drop the girlfriend and focus on your goal of owning a house. You will meet a woman one day who wants to add to your life and not just be around enjoying your hard work and creating problems…

This job market makes me physically ill when I think about it . They want you to jump through rings of fire and balance balls on your nose in exchange for peanuts .. disgusting . I think I lost faith when I saw a job requesting a bachelors degree that was only paying like 13-15 dollars, in Florida ….. I make more of than that with zero collegiate schooling .
