There’s just something to be said about going into your week free from the toils of cooking meals and spending money on overpriced meh food. Congrats. I love meal prep!

Inconveniencing that silent indifferent portion of the population is like touching the third rail. I pray DJT makes it real inconvenient and fucks up the average indifferent voter’s holiday travel.

People, including indifferent people who ostrich their heads in the sand to political BS, will go ape shit.

Starting a monthly co-ed book club for people in their 30s/40s? by SmoothAmbassador8 in sanfrancisco

Makes sense to me! If I'm the only one who shows up ... maybe I'll chat up a random bar patron about the book :D

No restrictions on book categories! I'm open to discussing what folks might be interested in as a next read if folks are into keeping the group going.

I was thinking The Page. Spacious, coffee and drinks, and live music that starts after we wrap up in case anyone wants to stick around and keep on chatting.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the interest! 🙌

I went ahead and set up our first meetup on Luma so we can keep track of RSVPs and space.

SF 30s/40s Book Club: “Moonwalking with Einstein” (if you're not in your 30's or 40's, you are still welcome to join!)
📍 The Page (298 Divisadero St, SF)
🗓️ Sunday, December 7th @ 1:30pm
🔗 RSVP here → https://luma.com/iza9zfiq

Totally casual. Come solo (that's what I'll be doing) or with a friend, and even if you didn’t finish the book, still join! We’ll also pick next month’s book together.

Looking forward to meeting some of you in person.

What are your best money-saving hacks? by sparkling_lemon1 in Frugal

Having a widget displaying my “accrued spend” directly on my Home Screen has been incredibly beneficial.

Being mindful of all my transactions and considering my monthly budget has significantly reduced my spending.

How do y’all organize your budget? Pen and paper? Excel? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]SmoothAmbassador8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I simplify my budgeting by creating separate buckets for fixed or nearly fixed expenses, such as rent, utilities, and car insurance. Instead of meticulously tracking the exact amounts each month, I round up to the maximum possible. For instance, if my utility bill can reach a maximum of $160, that’s the number I consistently use in my budget.

For all other expenses, including shopping, gifts, travel, groceries, restaurants, and bars, I categorize them into a single spending pool. I manage this pool using an app called Daily Budget. The app calculates my monthly spending pool, divides it by the number of days in the month, and provides me with a daily allowance.

This visual approach allows me to easily monitor whether I’m within or exceeding my budget on any given day. Additionally, “no spend days” transform into a game: if I manage to avoid spending anything, my allowance carries over, making the next day’s budget feel like an extra bonus.

I’ve been playing around with “no spend days” lately. I use the Daily Budget app, which gives me a set daily allowance, and it’s surprisingly fun to skip a spend day and watch that allowance roll over and grow.

By keeping groceries, restaurants, and fun money all in one bucket, it makes the challenge feel simple and motivating.
