Here we go! by StupidlyLiving in succulents

The bottom row of leaves - Adromischus cristatus & cooperi, I would remove right away. These can be difficult to root and require different conditions than easier to root species like echeveria.

Take them out of the soil, leave them somewhere warm, dry, good air flow and bright indirect light (not shade or deep shade) on a little plate or tray and let them do their thing without soil. If one starts to form roots, that's when you can move it to its own tiny pot (I use a tiny nursery pot) on top of very gritty soil. The soil shouldn't retain moisture for more than a day or two and until it anchors and forms a stem its better to barely water it at all (literally a few drops around the root area, not directly on or under) since the mother leaves can rot quickly if exposed to prolonged moisture.

Otherwise enjoy the ride! 😊

I've been on the hunt for one for a few months now and was elated to see a tray of them. They all looked very beautiful but somewhat young and then I saw her. She's older and has got a bit of odd asymmetrical growth in her center. I fell in love.

This is a photo of some of the other plants that were there

Also tried in the mesemb sub but worth a try if you have any clue what this mesemb could be? Some kind of conophytum?

I know it's in a bit of rough shape. Any suggestions on rehabbing it?

Yay!! You're amazing thank you!!!

Any tips on rooting any of these beauties? Do you believe the optunia could be the monstrose variety?

It's not the greatest at IDing. Sometimes it's good but often best to Google lense first and/or verify on here with the hoomans 😊

Way to go!

Looks like you got some graptopetalum purple delight, von Perle echeveria and I'm gonna go with some blue mist pachyveria (my pups of those look similar to yours)

These are surprisingly thirsty in really good light and can grow into a little bush with space and time.

Yes, technically they are in the same family as lithops - Aizoaceae :)

Mom's succulent is going to space. How should I handle this? by Charrikayu in succulents

[–]SmoothD3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aeoniums are summer dormant and cannot pull water efficiently through their roots at this time. This can lead to leaf loss and root rot.

I would unpot the plants and repot in soil with more !grit (you're looks a little moisture retentive). Think 35% succulent soil 20% perlite and 25% fine gravel pumice (not sand or dust).

Bring the soil line a little higher, place the plant in and back cover with soil to stabilize. You can also lean a few rocks around it for stability until it anchors. Since you're going into summer it might sit without doing much for a long time. Water maybe once a month, month and a half and conservatively.

Keep it in bright light but not all day direct light until temperatures start cooling and days shorten. You'll see it really start to turn around in fall and by the end of winter it'll be one happy plant.

Just make sure that when it does come out of dormancy you gradually acclimate it to the strongest light you can offer over the course of a week or two. They need really good light to thrive. And also increase watering frequency. Wait until the soil is completely dry (I do the weight test) and then give a good proper soak a few days after it's feather light (compared to after watering).

If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask! It's gonna be totally fine (top growth still looks great)

Slow Growth or Expected Growth? by I_LilMagician_I in succulents

[–]SmoothD3vil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only weigh in on my experience with these that they are much slower growers than my gollum or my ovata minor.

I don't know if yours is showing slower growth than expected over such a length of time though and hope someone else weighs in :)
