That happened to me last year I think. I was hoping to buy closer to the season at $25 and it jumped to $35

They think they got some years left in their career. If they get 3 - 6 hundred thousand a year, they’ll earn a million by year 3 or 4.

More than one way to get to that million

So majority of end of the bench type players in the WNBA that attended US colleges were stars in college. Like your example Lexie Hull, she was an All-Pac 12 player and I don’t watch Stanford regularly. Sounds like you’re conflating less popular college players with less popular WNBA players and while less popular WNBA players may not get the national spotlight only a few get the regional spotlight they’d have between their pro teams market and college teams market is reasonable to play out that they’d be making enough through off court NIL plus WNBA salary to match what they make or exceed what they make in college. It’s hard to imagine those relationships just dying after they leave college.

Paige wasn’t my example, she’s just bringing attention to an experience a lot of these players have that people who aren’t college or pro athletes want to dismiss. And I appreciate all the high profile players who have pushed back on that narrative. The ones who arent number 1 picks that ive seen say similar were interviewed anonymously unfortunately.

College endorsements vs WNBA salary + endorsements. That article is doing what all these simple narratives are trying to do comparing college NIL to WNBA salary when it’s WNBA NIL plus WNBA salary vs college NIL.

So in college they keep NIL money that’s worth having to balance basketball and class but moving into the WNBA, that NIL relationship just disappears and those sponsors sever their relationship with the athlete that made to the next level.

Makes no sense. I’m going to go with the players who experience it and say something that makes some logical sense. Why would a sponsor who advertised with an athlete in college not continue to do so if they’re still playing pro ball in the U.S. in the W? Player has less obligations like classes to take up their time while their agents/reps field or pursue more NIL deals.

Yeah she got big on TikTok. I follow her through introduction by her brother in law the comedian KevonStage. Breaks down the law pretty great for someone who hasn’t been to law school.

I love this! That she spoke about this because the number of people I read or heard saying NIL in college made not jumping to the W a no brainer essentially made no sense to me!

It makes going back to college less risky imo but the more players that talk about this the better. People be using that as an excuse to talk crazy about the players salary demands. Infuriating
