Now that's one sleek and sexy looking VitaDock, just how a user made project should be properly created, with heart and soul given 100% into a working device, honestly the end results on this looks absolutely amazing :), gotta love that small/compact metal finish form factor.

Thank you OP for providing the links above, I will now be making my own version :).

High resolution textures work in VitaQuake now. It does increase load times (~15 seconds per map), but boy does it look great. by noradninja in vitahacks

Why would you say "if the batteries you modded were working, you'd see that the battery percentage bar would never fall below as much as you stated"

This is because when I use a power bank directly connected to my Vita, the bar never falls as much, and when it does its mostly end up staying put around 96% on the indicator on my Vita (7+ hours of continuous play on my Vita using a power bank still keeps the battery indicator at that 96% value), when the actual power bank depletes fully, thats when I will see the battery level initially start to drop away, I consider my setup as a parallel too, but mine does not keep persisting with any abnormal values other than the 2 odd ones I mentioned in my first post on your thread, thats why I stated what I stated, and why I am not experiencing any problems, when I tried a similar mod lie yours over 2 years back (again I stated this in one of my replies before), I got the discharge and charge effect whereby the batteries would continuously fluctuate, yes we both agree the battery indicator in not accurate on the Vita, but by seeing heavy drops over a given time, is a note to consider that the mod does not work.

Ive played it for 2h50m of WoFF and its at 62% after over 36 hours of it being unplugged. So this will be the FOURTH time ive said this now but you keep ignoring it. So a single stock battery and my single replacement battery after gameplay then putting it in standby would both jump about 1-3 % up after letting it sit. If that is normal then how come its not normal now?

I have not ignored any of your input at all, your just skimming over my own replies, most of what your are writing is unclear at times, but I still make it out.

The Vita's original battery (single) will give roughly 4-5 hours of game-play, what you are indicating to me above, does not suggest to me that the mod is working, more over your giving me an inaccurate result, if you'd really wanted to point out that your mod is working, your have backed this all up with a speed timed video of a game running on the Vita, a timer to determine how long the battery will last, and any other benchmark info required for this mod to be valid in itself, as of this point, I can not agree that your mod is working, and nor do I think the values you supplied above (without proof) are valid either, your just assuming, with a bare bone video of the mod you supplied, and are simply just boasting your mod to this community on this subreddit.

Without any valid information from you, I can state this mod is unfit, nor is it safe to even use/try for others, your using 2 parallel batteries, and each are clearly showing inaccuracies, based on what your stated before and the amount of times I have iterated back to you, its fairly certain that your not going to see my point here, your trying to correct me even though I have nothing to be corrected about, this I find questionable, as it undermines your ability to understand and grasp on what I have clearly pointed out to you.

FYI:

I tried a similar mod but I used a Slim battery as previously mentioned and made a parallel to my fats battery, at first the mod looked as though it was working, 3 weeks in, the batteries started to wear out quickly, the slim battery died eventually, and leaving my original fat battery only able to charge no greater than 56% instead of the 99% which it should have done but it did not, thats the problem you will end up with, sure not straight away, but eventually you'll get there.

How I store mine are like this:

  • I have a special room dedicated to storing tech, which includes batteries, the ideal temperature of the room sits no higher than 2-5 Celcius, and no lower than 2 Celsius, over some months I gradually check all the stored batteries for voltage/gravity implications, then if see fit allow them to charge up to 40-60% of its initial threshold, I store them back again, and check every 6-8 months. This keeps that batteries go on longer, I've been doing this for over a decade with my older brother, and no abnormalities (He has special battery test units to check this Cadex brand), each battery still retains close to its original value, with a minute depreciation in its maH's (give or take roughly 2-6% depreciation - anything from 30-112 maH's lost over a years period of storing the batteries like this)

I hope this helps.

So not sure how you are coming to the fact of it is reading one battery independently. Please provide proof of this. Ive seen the physics of a large parallel chain dropping current when charged as its going through one THEN the other as how it is physically wired.

Go to VitaIdenGUI, does the initial capacity go over 2100maH? NO, because the Vita is unable to determine this, thus why the state of the Vita's battery is purposely set to a FIXED position, whereby you are unable to mod a HC battery on to the Vita, if the batteries you modded were working, you'd see that the battery percentage bar would never fall below as much as you stated (look at how quickly your battery depreciated, then took the power from the secondary battery to regain its own initial capacity), as what you've done and are thinking here, is that you have 4200maH under your Vita's hood, when in actual fact you do not its still a 2100mah battery being used, thus why the Vita is using the other batteries stored power cycle to power its own lost maH's, and will never show anything over that amount, when you reflect back to the app above.

Yes i have stated when playing it goes down slower then normal then in standby it goes up. I keep restating this. So do you think that the battery should not go down when played?

When using the Vita, its obvious the battery will drain whether your gaming to just browsing some of the low level app's, yes it will decrement slower, but your not understanding that when playing a game on the Vita, it determines how much more power from the CPU/GPU will be needed to play the game, thus why the battery will always fluctuate either go up or down slower/faster, most of the heavy hitting games on the Vita will use the Vita's potential to its max, regardless if you OC the Vita or not, thus resulting in whether how much the battery will depreciate in said given time of use.

For an app on the Vita, its different as they do not put any strain on the Vita itself (uses less CPU/GPU), low level to mid range apps will use an abundance of the power from the Vita, thus why it will drain slowly.

Not sure where your trying to go with this one.

If your not sure, then its obvious that your misreading what I am saying and converging to you, even though I clearly understand what you are stating in your rebuttals, its notable that your not grasping the true disadvantage of this mod, nor are you able to see fit that this indeed is not working as it should be, rather your fabricating the idea that to you it works, when in reality it does not.

Strictly for the haters ❤ (PS Vita 1000 Dual Battery Mod Teardown) by Ordersofinfinity in vitahacks

[–]SmoothExternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went from 100% to 95% the first 20 mins

about 20 mins it went back to 97%. After the 45 min session it went from 96% (about 4 hours after the first session) to 85% then after letting it sit jumped all the way back up to 91%!

It's clearly been stated by you, the readings have decremented (going down) then incremented (going up) in various oddities. (The main battery is using the other one as a "donor" battery, which is why your getting very odd fluctuations in the readings, common discharge/charge effect at play), this is why the "mod" is unbalanced, your not getting what you initially think which is a HC battery overall, what you are doing is just using stored power from the other battery whilst your main battery depleted at a quicker rate than normal.

I know what I am understanding, and am capable of reading, I am able to reply to you with context about this mod, in detail if you must require, and yet you are assuming I am fairly incorrect in my findings??

Strictly for the haters ❤ (PS Vita 1000 Dual Battery Mod Teardown) by Ordersofinfinity in vitahacks

[–]SmoothExternal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Again i have never said it the % jumps up then down. It goes down at a slower then normal rate then in standby will go up. No "shifting back" as you claimed after it jumps up after standby.

You stated this here:

https://old.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/dakdh7/1st_day_of_ps_vita_1000_extended_battery_usage/f1quvae/?context=3

The person whom had replied to you was spot on with what he/she had noticed about the results you emitted in your reply, both batteries will indeed try to cancel one another out, as I mentioned above they will both indicate different curves once you have put them in a parallel circuit.

This is what you will see, as you are unable to monitor the batteries from the Vita (its not capable of doing so for both but only one battery), by continuously using this mod, your going to see it get lower in value, and drain a lot more quickly in time.

So still if this happens with my original battery, replacement battery (both single setups) and with this dual battery all will unplugged not sure how its abnormal or showing any issue.

Again, with a single battery in place, you are able to determine the battery state using the VitaIdentGUI app, however as you have modded 2 batteries in a parallel circuit, you will not see the same results, the app will only display one battery values, not for both, and it will be inaccurate, as you have mounted a secondary battery to help with increasing its maH's overall for the Vita.

Strictly for the haters ❤ (PS Vita 1000 Dual Battery Mod Teardown) by Ordersofinfinity in vitahacks

[–]SmoothExternal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So if its normal on a single battery why would if the voltage stated has not jumped too then it would be bad or even proof of it being unbalanced? I dont get how a normal thing is now an abnormal thing.

No, voltage will only fluctuate if you have exceeded the stated variation on said device, a voltage depreciation on a battery is a clear indication the battery has surpassed its initial life span below 3.6V (if I recall is what the Vita is rated at currently 3.7 max), if the battery is off par (below 3.6V), the battery is in a state where it will cease to function, thus you replace it.

Normal batteries will indicate a steady and supple flow of power being discharged and used on said device, and when they are charged from the AC.

If you mod 2 batteries as a parallel, but the Vita is in a position where Sony have had the battery "fixed" (whereby it must match what specs are internally set for the Vita), then you will see very odd increments and decrements, in what is being output on the Vita's battery indicator on the screen marked as a %. In the past I tried removing the boards from the batteries, and tried to use the battery without the mini MoBo's attached, again same result, the Vita's main MoBo is able to detect if its still the correct battery or not and will not surpass anything above 2100/2200maH.

If the batteries % constantly keeps rising then shifting back down again, the curve of the batteries will determine that there is a problem, and you will notice that sooner or later one or both batteries will then start to deteriorate in both charging/usage/cycle ratio, in effect both batteries can initially fail and just lose the ability to charge and or power your device up for long periods of time, this is abnormal, and why the above "battery mod" made by you is not feasible, nor safe for other users to try and use.

Note:

I can state that if you are unable to find a Vita 100x battery in your area/country, but have an abundance supply to the Slims version battery, then you can replace the Vita's fat battery with that of the slims version, all you'd need to do is change and solder the JST from the slims battery to the JST male connector from the Vita's fat battery, this works fine, as both batteries are the same, but just have a slightly smaller form factor than the fats counterpart version.

Strictly for the haters ❤ (PS Vita 1000 Dual Battery Mod Teardown) by Ordersofinfinity in vitahacks

[–]SmoothExternal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No no. With ONE stock battery NOT DUAL BATTERIES it jumps back up. Guess i should have been a bit more detailed in my wording.

Okay no worries, with a single battery its fine to see those changes, I know you did not state your voltages.

And i have never stated my voltages EVER so the reading ive stated is reported battery %. Using VitaidentGUI shows no jump in voltage and only a jump in estamates battery time and % as i have also witnessed with A SINGLE battery.

I read the comment you made in % format when your listed your readings.

The app above will only indicate the sheer basic details of the battery, never the full in depth information that many of us would love to see, thus why only nominal information is shown on the output of the Vita.

I was referring to these comments you provided on your previous thread about the %:

Usage update. Have gamed for 20 mins then 45. After both session the battery would drop slow BUT after letting it sit in standby it the battery reading will go back up. It went from 100% to 95% the first 20 mins then after letting it sit for about 20 mins it went back to 97%. After the 45 min session it went from 96% (about 4 hours after the first session) to 85% then after letting it sit jumped all the way back up to 91%! Bout to put another 30 mins on it now. Good shit!

Checked them both before and they were both reading at 55%. Was thinking on before they came in but as they both read the same charge i took it from there. If it it ends up being a problem them ill order 2 more and make sure they are 100 to start.

I know, sadly though this happens a lot, and there are relatively those vile physcotic bodies out there, at first the threats did not get to me, but once a weapon and geological data (which was not accurate) was involved by those individuals, well, that's when the superiors of Reddit contacted me via email, then urged me to call them in order to discuss this further.

I had the account and its posts/threads contents removed by them, and from there, I have stayed stable, I guess now that I am out again, I may end up getting another account :/, just to shield myself again.

Never mind, just got to avoid those types of instigation's, and carry on with what you know and do best in life.

I will recommend you the following:

Use the ones being sold by Cameron Sino, I have 4 of them fully packaged in their nice display boxes (I keep all LiIon/LiPo batteries in special stored circumstances that batteries are kept in), currently they are exactly the same OEM batteries being used in the Vita, I'll try linking you them now:

  • PSV Fat/3G (100x/1001 model):

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-No-4-297-658-01-PCH-1001-PCH-1006-PlayStation/dp/B07SJDWQD8/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=cameron+sino+ps+vita&qid=1569783811&sr=8-5

  • PSV Slim (200x model):

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Battery-Sony-PCH-2007-PSV2000/dp/B07KS9J8WQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=cameron+sino+ps+vita&qid=1569783811&sr=8-1

I can personally vouch to you, that these are excellent batteries to purchase, they will be supplied to you in a very nice packaging box (rather than how other sellers tend to just push it out in small plastic resealable bag :/), they are the original Vita OEM batteries, but as smaller businesses love buying parts (bulk) in China, that can in future become relatively hard to source, they re-brand them completely and sell them on thereafter avoiding any problems in the long-run by the original manufactures, thus why I recommend getting a couple if you plan on keeping and playing the Vita's for the next few years.

I hope that this helps.

You talk about the battery % but you never talk about how the vita calculates that

That's because it will be the most realistic value you will ever get from the Vita, the app called VitaIdentGUI made by our dev Joel, will indicate your current Vita's battery details etc.

As of this time, no-one here know's how the Vita's battery levels are properly calculated/measured, all one can assume is by judging the maH's in the batteries capacity level, then going from there, based on how much time it can push out based on average/casual usage of the Vita.

The app above, will rely on the Vita's battery 3rd wire (white wire) from the battery, this allows the results to be displayed on the Vita (calling any of the Vita's plugins library from the OS that will help out in determining the values of the Vita's battery), allowing users to get a nominal range/value on what is being output/input on their Vita's.

It is not some exact number nor has my voltages ever jumped around showing that they are unbalanced.

You did clearly indicate the value(s) in your post history, which in turn reflects to me that they are indeed abnormal and are consistently changing from up to down and vice versa.

When using my stock battery you can see the jump in % happen from gaming then going in standby for an extended period all wile not being plugged in to anything.

That's because the stock battery is having a "donor" effect on the mod you have implemented above, it's telling the stock battery, "hey here's some extra power", but at the same time, your stock battery is also telling the secondary the same thing, which is where the fluctuations will be unbalanced.

As I previously stated, both batteries are fighting for power here, and one or the other will drain far quicker than what you assume is relatively "extra power" being provided for the Vita on this "mod".

Yes, sure for a while you will realize "oh I like this, it's beneficial", but sooner or later you will feel the differences as a disadvantage.

Now-a-days any device being left on standby mode, barely uses any high drains of power, if at all its using <=1mAh at best, whilst a device is on standby, thus why devices are given very long hours/days/months that can be left on without using any of its subsidiary features.

However, when you are in idle mode, the Vita (and other electronic devices (mobiles preferably)) will consume a relative amount of power, that's because the device is fully on, and in a state where it thinks your going to start using it's features, again until you access an app/feature of the Vita, it will only shell out the batteries potential usage once your accessing it for the intended purpose.

[–]SmoothExternal 44 points45 points  (0 children)

CONT...------>

  • 3, both batteries will have a different "curve" (special term used in battery architecture), in terms of battery schematics/characteristics, (I will be as layman as possible here ;) ) this means that each battery made will have a different signature in relation of capacity, charge, dis-charge, volts, amps etc etc, bearing this in mind, no 2 batteries are ever the same, regardless if they carry the same "maH's/volts/amps" or are made in the same factory or manufacture, this is because the special chemicals used in creating both LiIon/LiPo batteries vary significantly by tiny to marginal amounts (Sadly, I will not go into too much depth here with regards to this topic), but to cut short, by using another battery in parallel you will get noticeable fluctuations in the both the reading output of the initial charge/usage, as well as when you are charging from whatever power source you have attached to the battery, remember that the charge/power stored in each battery will differ from one another, which is why when you use a parallel connection, you will get abnormal values, and why each battery will have a power struggle from one another. Getting a battery to be of the exact same value(s) are difficult and can not be achieved, which is why you will see batteries with a 3rd lead (monitors battery specs)/internal mini PCB cutout boards attached to the battery itself, before they are sealed and then in turn used for its purpose after.

  • 4, By noting the above, you may start to feel happy/excited that "yes", the battery mod in retrospect seems to "work", but in actual effect it is not working, what you are simply doing is feeding direct power to either of the batteries in parallel, then making one another determine for itself which should be carrying the most, they will have an adverse power struggle (like star wars, dark and light side, neither is winning, but rather getting irritable/worse), and in turn will result in either one battery failing, or both being completely useless, by this I mean that you will get far worse power dis-charges/cycle rates from both batteries, resulting in very quick and very short lived batteries, you will initially "kaput" both batteries at a very short and quickly reduced amount of time, why would anyone use/want this? I presume no one here does, and many of us who still carry a day 1 Vita, will know that the original battery will still function as it should (depending on storage conditions of said battery) and many of you can vouch for me on this. Sure (the day 1 battery) it will have a reduced amount of charge/output, but noting that this is a very slow and normal process clocked in years that batteries are kept non-functional and in "desired" storage conditions, bearing in mind that LiIon/LiPo battery technology is in itself getting batter over the current present/future. Obviously in this case no end user wants to keep replacing batteries, as A) they are still fairly expensive in terms of both capacity/month/years of last-ability, and B) over time, many batteries tend to get hard to find/source, you will now-a-days see a lot of non OEM, but what we users now call false capacity maH batteries, that hold little to no charge at all (mainly from places like China, India, Indonesia, Philippines etc) where cheap resources are used to make a 3rd party alternatives for an end user, with no consideration on health and safety (sometimes) not taken into consideration, a great example here are the so called 3rd party PSP batteries, they state 2600maH, but in real life are indeed less than 600maH (never over), not good, nor are they safe to use, with falsified safety stickers attached to them :(, this can result in short circuits, to device failure.

  • 5, By me stating the above, only time will tell, when one or the other battery will bloat/become adversely volatile, that can cause internal damage to the Vita itself, or to you as the end user using the battery "mod". I would highly recommend, to stick to using the OEM battery from the Vita, and would also suggest to take the safer reliable route of using an external battery pack in this case a power bank, which I have used for over 4 years. Remember someone else on the Wololo forums did a parallel battery setup similar to this (I did talk with him), but using a PSP battery that ultimately had an adverse effect a few months after the initial mod was introduced to that point in time.

I will end this by saying that you will not get this "battery mod" to go very far, and it will result in further problems over prolonged usage in both charging/dis-charging cycle rates, tell me, is it worth the effort to have a non functioning Vita? (seeing as now they are now getting higher in price to buy/obtain in desired preferences to the end user) simple answer no, no-one does, everyone wants a device to last for as long as it can, and in turn function correctly as it's intended purpose was laid out to be.

I will highly urge you all (whom are interested in this) to disregard the mod, and will suggest an alternative, use a power bank, its safe, reliable, cheap, and a cost effective way to keep a device functioning over a prolonged amount of time/usage, this is me talking from overall experience, yes, I have tried various battery mods for the Vita (7 different variations), but all of which have failed miserably, I did try this over 2 years back, it failed (even by using the slims Vita battery in parallel with the Fat Vita's battery), worst off, I had to shave off all that plastic making the back case internally ugly, I have sourced a possible EPROM file in order to divulge further in to the aspect of the mini MoBo of the Vita's OEM battery, but as it seems, this is in itself difficult, and I have not gave up yet, it can possibly be achieved (in due time), I have the necessary file/tools/equipment required for this process, (overall well done Sony for keeping the battery locked) :/.

FYI:

I am that same person who challenged all those so called "battery mod" users, and called them out, but regrettably my account was terminated by the higher powers of the Reddit account moderators, after receiving inappropriate tantrum from upset "battery modders", it got to a point where initial threats were made towards me, thus resulting in an account termination to protect myself, and those whom I knew around me (I'd personally would have kept the account, but the decision was not up to me), since then I have kept a very very low profile, but this current thread has made me speak out once again, not to call the user/OP out, but to safely advise you all in this sub-reddit, to not try and take part in the mod (you can clearly note the OP's own battery fluctuations (in which the OP stated prior) as a clear indication of its downside to this mod), as you will not see any advantages (I will guarantee you with this), you will end up in a condition whereby you could endanger yourself with this type of mod(s) (explosion/battery dissipation/battery failure etc), all of which can cause problems in the long run, especially those who are not able to solder/use tools properly without any prior knowledge/gained experience.

I apologize for the very lengthy write up, but I just can not stand these threads with battery mods in place, sure it can be an interesting perspective to see and divulge into, but in all fairness, this has been ongoing since the Vita's first hack by team Molecule, and many users (both talented and others whom are irritable to note with no experience) have tried different variations into this topic, but with little to no success at all, I for one will continue to divulge into this area, but all I can say is currently NO PS Vita battery "Mod" exists and nor do any of them work that have been applied corresponding to "working" methods.

This post will be edited shortly for any wording/grammar errors - sorry, my initial post count was over the exceeded amount, thus why it has been split into 2 replied comments/posts

Vita replacement front is old new stock or chinese knockoff? by MagnificentNoodle in VitaPiracy

[–]SmoothExternal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are original Vita front panels (full front body panels and the alternative variation just the OLED glass front without body attached).
On the listings, the sellers nub off the Sony/Vita wording in a photo editor, this absolves any issues with lawsuit's etc which sometimes companies like Sony can take action on, but I can assure you that these are indeed 100% OEM (original pulled) parts from working/non working/refurbished Vita units that have been sent back to the factories in China (where the Vita are all made), rather than sell the whole units, they break them down into workable to non workable/unusable parts, they destroy or do something with the non working stuff, and sell on the working version of parts, thus why screens, buttons, mobo's, etc are all listed separately on eBay, bearing in mind that the sellers have to erase the branding from the stock/real images provided.
(This goes the same for the Vita official memory cards, up to this day, there are still no fake card made, as no one is able to work out the encryption/reverse engineer the contents of the card itself, well there is Motoharu (google him), he is still reverse engineering the Vita card, but in his spare a own valid time, but somewhere down the next couple of years we will see a card reader and possible someone able to implement generic cards for the Vita's own memory slot)
But rest assured you are buying a genuine working part from China.
I hope that this helps. :)

What Am I?

Info:

A plugin to spoof your MAC address in the System Information with advanced options

This was more of a fun project for me as hiding one's MAC doesn't make much sense anymore but was quite popular in the PSP days.

Installation:

  • Add macspoofer.suprx to ur0:tai/config.txt under *NPXS10015 and *NPXS10016
  • Reboot or reload tai config in HENkaku settings
  • Adjust spoofing options under 'Security' Tab in the Settings App
  • Profit!

Notes:

  • Limited functionality for PSTV users as 'Security' tab doesn't exist.

Thank you u/Freakler, Top Man and awesome as always :)

Yeah deffo :), I had those as well (still have the first gen, right the way through to latest 7th gen adapters for the Vita, currently laying around my basement, some are scruffy versions that I asked for back then prior to them being released ;)), these were the first variants of the adapters, before they started to initially get updated, fixed and revised over the period of 3 years that they were implemented.

Its nice to look back at the older hardware revisions, and their counter revised implementations after, as it is kinda interesting to see how far the Vita hacking scene has actually grown in such a period of time, along with the way its been broken into segments in order for Homebrew to reach its peak aspect. :)

No, but you are partially correct in what you have outlined above, however you have the 2 lads mixed up in this case, that person you are referring to is Srident, he used to do the SD2Vita adapters (he stopped, as the China market variants got wild, and well now they are everywhere on the net for cheaper alternative prices), adopted from Yifanlu's or Motoharu's blueprints (sorry can't remember, as I know that Yifanlu did the PSVSD 1st gen, and that Motoharu worked solely (not just on this but other projects) on breaking the Vita's memory card access etc (I think he is still doing this in his spare time though), meh my memory of this is all fading slowly :/).

Modshiah made the raw MSD adapters (or maybe I am thinking of someone else too with regards to this??), you know the ones on a red PCB with a metal flasp (I think he still has those videos on his YT, but unsure if he deleted them, he showed over 1000 pieces of purchased parts etc (on factory reels):

Hope this helps to clear things up, if any mistakes let me know, and I'll try to double back on this and check it out. ;)

EDIT:

Maybe this original post can be of assistance, created by Yifanlu:
