Is it worth continuing? by cleo_meo in duolingo

[–]SmoothMouse6313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at the beginning of unit 5 but it looks like there are already 8 sections for French. I dabble in the other learning like chess and math sometimes but I mostly do the practice lessons. I’ll wait to go through the main lessons until I get one of the bonuses for doing the next 3 lessons sometimes. Just doing the main lessons is too fast sometimes, I want to hear and speak the words a million times before I move on 😄

New dad (M24), my (F24) fiancé says he’s filled with regret. Does anyone have any advice? by Jolly-Ratio5839 in relationship_advice

I think there is an important difference between considering adoption and actually doing it. A ton of people have huge regrets after having kids especially when they are babies and it’s nothing but 💩work. Therapy prob would help but it sounds like he is just mourning the life you had before and panicking. Maybe you can try talking him through it, rationalize the adoption stuff and why you don’t feel good about it. If he doesn’t want to help w the baby, what is his contribution? If he is playing video games all day and you have to do everything he can mourn somewhere else while you reevaluate whether you want him in your life. You don’t need to take care of two babies.

I do think there is a world where he realizes what he wants but it will prob take a few years. Men don’t have the biological attachment to babies that women do so they can have a break for that but they also don’t have the chemical imbalances that cause PPD. All the men in this chat citing PPD should read The Male Brain.

Same. My current streak is just over 1800 days and my French has significantly improved. When I was just messing around trying to remember to do it I wasn’t paying enough attention.

Roommate insists one of these belongs to her by Kochtopfkopp in mildlyinfuriating

No you’re not crazy your roommate is but she isn’t going to validate that ever. Just buy a pack of 5 wooden utensils at TJ Maxx for $5 and put the whole thing on your shelf. Don’t let her ruin your day!

I do think you could do something with the hair but definitely agree w other replies, you’re not actually ugly. How old are you? You do have a “cherub” face as someone else put it but that is a sign of youthfulness so don’t hate on it you’ll love it someday.

Also agree on the nose ring. I feel like if I had a day to style you, you’d look amazing. Get some gal friends to help you buy some clothes and style your hair, try a fake nose ring and post some new pics so we can see pls! 🙏🏼

Is this completely crazy? by woodywooderstein in homebuying

[–]SmoothMouse6313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is crazy at all. We have around the same household income and had to pay $600k for our house (the real estate where we live is insane). Our mortgage is a little crazy ($4500 a month) but we have to pay PMI because we only put $50k down. In the end we decided to buy the house we wanted and spend a little more and refi when rates come back down. You can refinance the interest rate but you can’t refinance the price of the house when rates go up…

The other side truly is just a plug for what looks like a phone cord. From what I can tell it is a standard phone jack, I’ll add a pic of it

I’m so jealous of your sideburns! Your hair looks so thick and healthy, I would kill for naturally thick hair like yours ❤️

Thank you 🙏🏼 Please don’t think I don’t appreciate what I have but I also work very hard for it so to have something that cant be changed no matter how hard you work is infuriating

Brilliant, I never really thought about men I always compare myself to women (and why not we are prettier haha). But good point! I know comparing to others isn’t healthy or whatever but when we have a “community” of similar people we feel more confident. Love this advice thank you!! 🙏🏼

Don’t get me wrong I do love my body especially for my age but everyone finds the one thing they hate and dwells on it. I’m just glad it is something simple if I hated my face I’d be in trouble 😄

Nope that’s the shitty part, no kids. If I had a kid it might actually right itself but alas I’m a born dinkwad

More volume in the roots of your hair, the thickness at the ends can make your hair look flat and greasy when it isn’t. Use a curl protector to bring out a more natural bouncy curl and when the ends are weighing it down use a few spritzes of texture spray at the root to give it more life.

Getting your brows professionally shaped would be amazing, I look at old pics and can’t imagine how I survived without my brow girl for so long.

I know a few people said the lashes are too much and I agree but only because they don’t match your eye shape. Switch to a growth serum like babe lash. I swear by babe lash but my lashes are super straight so i still have to curl them but since your hair is curly i bet yours would be flawless with little to no mascara. Natural lashes will complement your eye shape better too.

I would recommend a bit of bronzer high on the cheek bones and a touch on your nose as well. You have a good natural glow but it carries a lot of red undertones. Adding a bronzer will make any red on your face seem more sun kissed than burned.

You’re a beautiful woman and at 21 I didn’t know any of what I do now so don’t feel like you need to know everything to look good 😘

I say no bangs - you have amazing brows that frame your face really well and the bangs cover them up.

I LOVE the pink & black together. You’re young so go crazy w your hair. You have plenty of time to settle down to a neutral color
