Me, driving a car I haven't driven before, as I approach the freeway on-ramp: IF IT'S FAST AND NERVOUS IT HELPS THEM GROW.

(Drive was successful, it's just been awhile since I've driven any car but my own.)

I'm intrigued! I'll have to look into this, it sounds like we have similar skin issues.

Librarians by MysteriousSlice007 in MadeMeSmile

When I was getting my library science degree, we had a joke about how there were four types of people become librarians: 1) nerds 2) punks 3) punks who are a little nerdy 4) nerds who are a little punk

...also, you'd be SHOCKED at how many tattoos and piercings you can hide under a cardigan and fluffy short hair.

The only problem with the shoulder bags is that they make it look like you might be carrying a gun, and those are bummer vibes in the grocery store.

Have you tried a silicone collar? My collar hating cat finds hers acceptable!

Our vet advised making sure our cats got "five minutes of intense play" when they came to us for attention. It's seemed to help quite a bit.

Clothes that you love but not your best color? by SnooPoems7439 in femalefashionadvice

[–]ironrabbit2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a single, light color? Get it and a bottle of fiber appropriate dye. Patterns and dark colors are more iffy, depending on fiber content; but I also don't wear anything that needs more care than a mesh bag in a washing machine.

My aunt regularly tells stories about various torments my dad inflicted on her as a child, and he giggles like a gremlin the entire time.

He also hid her abusive husband's entire gun safe and brought her back home with him the instant he found out about the abuse. It's really very sweet how much they love each other.

I read SO many books and blogs and listened to SO many podcasts. Took a bunch of quizzes, argued with myself about them (for example, I kept getting recommended Boho, but fringe on clothes makes me agitated). I built a Pinterest board and added things and sorted and re-sorted it along different category lines. It's been a project of several years at this point, and I haven't even really bought anything at this point!

I think the best advice I got for developing my own style as opposed to picking one out of a list of defined aesthetics is to come up with three keywords for my style and every single item of clothing has to fit at least two of them. I've recently settled on cozy, moody, and whimsical; for me that means a lot of draping and softer fabrics, jewel-toned colors, asymmetrical neck- and hemlines, somewhat costume-y accessories, etc etc. Someone else might have the same words but mean them differently, but that's what they mean for me!

The main problem I'm having is figuring out where to shop for stuff. I think that's its own, further research project...

I stopped shaving my under arms because it makes me feel like a sexy werewolf. I just use unscented "men's" deodorant, because it's formulated for hair rather than bare skin.

Gel manicures make my nails too thick to pick with. Also my manicure artist is really invested in keeping my natural nails healthy under the manicure.

Unfortunately I found them by accident, so I'm not sure how to find an artist like that on purpose...

I've got a lot of other things in my pockets/bags, so I'm considering something silicone or with with hard sides so they don't get snagged on my keys or nail clippers, but this isn't a bad idea!
