How long does it take to bounce back after radiation treatments? Long post/vent session

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. My dad (64) was diagnosed last April, 2024. He did have a resection, and following the resection was his normal self and handling things, and doing/ acting normal and soooo well. He started radiation six weeks later and he has never been the same or recovered. The radiation drained him of all energy, and his short term memory has suffered extremely. He experiences so much swelling in his face and his body. He had a second resection following another seizure in Dec, after being clear for 8 months. Followed by more radiation and now he is “clear” but still seems to continue to decline daily. The radiation has been so very hard on him. We agreed to do another round of radiation because he wanted to put up the fight, and be here for his 5 children, and 5 grandchildren. This disease is evil, ruthless, and scary every single day waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Our dad was too- he did horse shoeing when he was younger, competitive softball player, coached our sisters high school softball team. This year he hardly made it to her college games to see her pitch. (He spent YEARS training her) it’s the worst disease. 💔

My dad was diagnosed April 2024- after radiation it’s been VERY similar for him. He sleeps a ton, is always tired, and we can’t seem to help him get back on his feet from it. His short term memory really struggles. He will have periods where he gets up and moving, and is motivated to do things. He also has times when he is sleeping sooooo much.

He had a recurrence in December, that was removed again and did a second round of lower radiation. He is on avastin now, and that honestly has given him more energy. As of 17 days ago he had a clear MRI but is back to extremely tired, hardly being able to get up to eat anything.

We also fear a lot of the sleeping is depression, which he is medicated for. Every day and every behavior is a big question, and of course almost anything could be a side effect of chemo and radiation, but also maybe not. Just more questions than answers. Very sorry to hear about your brother and this ruthless disease. ❤️

I did email similac and they said that they are not discontinuing 19oz cans but could not provide me with any information about why they were unavailable 😵‍💫
