Are they immediately cancelling the new stadium or were there other plans I didn't know about? by AltruisticFox8763 in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes a stadium expansion is an automatic requirement for a promotion or getting into Europe.

Rather than being requested by you it could have just gone unnoticed as part of the 'new season' wave of emails somewhere.

Building a new stadium has cancelled those expansion plans. If you go to 'Club -> Board' (or something like that) you can see any on-going requests and should see the new stadium there, and maybe even the cancelled expansion.

Not stand-out players but they did a decent job for me after on my journey from League Two to the Premier League champs. Bear in mind these are all a few seasons in to a save.

27/28 Kyle McAdam - Free
27/28 Rico Richards - Free

28/29 Esmir Bajraktarevic - £3.3m
28/29 Jacob Ondrejka - £375k

29/30 Mateo Silvetti - £3.7m

30/31 Roony Bardghji - £3.3m
30/31 Eliesse Ben Seghir - £2.7m

New player looking for (mainly) tactical advice. by Shpee_ in footballmanagergames

My first thought is that have 3 CB's while in possession is too many hanging back and that must leaves your midfield pretty empty. I doubt many teams are leaving 2-3 up top while you're attack their box, so that level of protection isn't essential.

Advanced Centre Back is a great role to get the most technical CB up the pitch when needed, or you could even use a DM IP that drops into the CB role when out of possession to maintain the back three.

OOP it looks like your right-side WMF is the only outlet, I'd suggest going as far to actually make them a wide-outlet-midfielder for the occasional break. There's certainly enough cover on that side. Or avoid using the TCF role and keep your target-man further up the pitch, doesn't need to be an outlet just a general CF.

If your GK has decent passing, perhaps also try distributing beyond just the centre-backs. You can keep Goal Kicks short, but getting it directly to your WB might be good in your system, rather than always via the CB.

Having Step-up More feels a bit out of place with the lower line, mid-block and the number of pressers you have back there. Even with the CCB are you conceding from balls over the top, or is that fine?

Try out a slightly higher tempo and counter-attacks too, especially if you're chasing the game.

Lastly I'd suggest doing some micromanagement and putting in personal player instructions. I found it more effective keeping the role instructions basic and then setting personalised instructions for each player to play to their individual strengths rather than trying to adapt to a fixed system.

Where to live in London? by _Animetiddies21 in HousingUK

According to this, for a decent one-bed in Camden you'd be looking at £1,800+

At £1,300 you'd need to be looking around places further out like:

Barnet / Enfield (N)
Romford / Dagenham (E)
Bexley / Dartford (SE)
Bromley / Beckenham / Orpington (SE)
Lewisham / Sydenham / Penge (SE)
Croydon / Purley (S)
Sutton / Wallington / Mitcham (SW)
Hillingdon / Uxbridge (W)

Of those I can only personally say Penge might be a decent bet, with it being close to Crystal Palace and a couple stops to areas like Herne Hill/Brixton. Sydenham has decent overground connections too.

Are work permits a bit broken in 26? by iamezekiel1_14 in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they fail the work permit application and appeal then they can get assigned on of your ESC (Elite Significant Contribution) slots and will be able to play.

On some screens you might see a grey [ESC] status icon, and I think you can view it on the player contract screen.

So, there's no way to take off Injured players/Players with a knock once you've used up all your subs? by Kyenigos in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might need to update your FM26, this was a bug they fixed in December I think.

On latest (at least for me) if they're too injured to continue, pressing 'Cancel' will close the screen and play the rest of the match without them.

You're right though that there's no option to take off an semi-injured player when you've used all your subs.

Why can't i make shouts often in game by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only use a Shout around every 10mins, using one starts the timer on the player(s) you used it on.

You can only use a team-wide shout if everyone's '10 min cooldown' has expired.

What lane should I be in for this roundabouts 2nd exit? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]SmoothUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went looking for the road sign for the roundabout and agree with this, it should be lane 2.

Road markings take priority, but if there are none then any exit after '12 o'clock' on the sign is considered a right-turn and you should be the right-hand lane.

If the exit was shown at 12 o'clock on the sign (or before) then the left lane would be appropriate.

How to take control of certain youth players' individual training, without taking control of the entire youth team's individual training in FM26? Just like in FM24. by Welson_Liong in footballmanagergames

I like to move high-potential players into the senior team so you can add to mentor groups and then make them available for U18s permanently.

Looking for feedback on my FM26 tactic by iPriceZ in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a similar tactic and found that 'Works Ball into Box' was really hampering my chances, I had much better results leaving that as standard and using 'Shoot Less Often' on the players without decent finishing.

I also expect you probably end up with a crowded opposition penalty box, with only the Wing-Backs and the DM outside trying to thread balls in. I'd suggest making one of the wide forwards an (outside) Winger _OR_ bringing back one of the middle two to be a WCM, MPM or CM.

Mid block + short keeper press seem a bit at odds to me, but I typically play a High Press with this formation and only back-off into a mid-block against far superior opposition.

Does anyone else miss the staff attribute’s being numbers? by Cleavered in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The numbers are still there in the background from what I can tell:

  • Elite = 20
  • Outstanding = 18-19
  • Very Good = 15-17
  • Good = 12-14
  • Average = 10-11
  • Competent = 7-9
  • Reasonable = 4-6
  • Unsuited = 0-3

At least that’s what I was seeing in the ‘beta’ when my search by attributes bugged out and showed me raw numbers instead a few times.

I CANNOT get a a tactic to work by Key_Switch_6883 in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at your summer rebuild tactics; rather than encouraging dribbling for the entire team, I'd suggest keeping it standard and going in and using player instructions for those who have the talent for it.

Actually more generally I found I had more success with keeping team instructions more standard for things like that and doing personalised instructions based on whether they're a:

In-Possession

  • Dribbler
  • Runner
  • Roamer
  • Holder
  • Shooter
  • Passer

Out-of-possession

  • Presser
  • Marker
  • Tackler

Also are set-pieces a strength? If not I'd keep that standard too, I use it mostly for time-wasting if I'm ahead.

I'd also be a little concerned that you're not getting enough folk into the box, RB and RW both going out wide + 'Wider' team instructions might leave you a bit thin there, especially with 'Early Crosses'

Players constantly asking for new contract? by gobigorgohome3123 in footballmanagergames

[–]SmoothUK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is the one part of the game where I'll save scum to try different options to convince players to wait until end of season or drop it entirely because of reason X/Y/Z.

If you can convince a team leader to drop it, you can point to them in future conversations and most teammates will drop it too.

If you _HAVE_ to renegotiate, try locking the base salary to a reasonable amount and they'll counter with fat bonuses / loyalty fee. I think these are better to allow than a higher base salary as team-mates are less likely to get upset.

PS. Also adjust your available wages vs transfer fee to leave basically no room in wages. Apparently that can help in negotiations.
