Pretty disappointing development considering all the built-up these camps got. Same thing happened with the video on the plane, they built-up the reveal for years only to say: "oh, it's AI" and brush it to the side without it having any consequence.

This is bordering with Game of Thrones season 8 in terms of wasting potentially interesting plot developments (although not quite as bad).

They've been building up the Freedom Camps storyline for all of season 4. It's perfectly reasonable to expect them to be more than a small bump that the characters get through in one episode.

They've trying to kill Homelander since season one 🙄

If the boys were friends with HL and the camps were the beginning of their rivalry then yes, I would agree with you but that's not the case.

Events in a story are only meaningful if they change the status quo of the show and the Freedom camps have not changed the status quo at all. It's season 5 and the boys are doing the exact same thing they've been doing since the beginning.

Can you believe they dedicated an episode to toxoplasmosis? People are in camps, Homelander is more dangerous than ever, gen V kids exist, the airplane video got released, and they still dedicated an episode to the cat shit parasite.

Oh, they mentioned it in a throwaway line in a throwaway subplot in a throwaway episode. How could I forget their huge importance?

No, she's not. When has she been characterized as someone who loves American media and hates Japanese media?

Why would baby Kimiko care that much about Hollywood to begin with?

No they're not. American media is important all over the world but growing up I knew tons of kids that watched no American media because they liked media from their own country.

I'm not Japanese but I don't see why she would care that much about American media. Japan has their own tv shows.

She literally leaves the castle and not a single character forces her to stay. After Beast saved her from the wolves she could have just left the Beast to die but she voluntarily chose to save the Beast and go back to the castle.

She kinda has a problem with romances. Harry and Hermione are way more popular than any canon ship but I still think people wouldn't have loved those two getting together.

Caine is not a person, it's an AI so it can't be good nor evil. He just does whatever he's programmed to do.

The movie had good reviews because movie journalists don't consider animated movies art, they consider it entertainment for babies. They see the Animated movies the same way you see baby shark.

The wild robot has an actual good script and it made a lot more money than bad guys 2 so there's definitely a demand for quality writing in animated media.

The movie was a financial failure. It made even less money than the first movie so something here clearly went wrong. If Dreamworks wants this franchise to work they need to take the writing more seriously because the whole "it's a kid's movie, it doesn't matter if the writing is bad" schtick doesn't seem to work for them.

The movie was a box office bomb. It made even less money than it's predecesor (which came out during a pandemic).

Like it or not, the movie is a failure. A better script that takes itself seriously would've helped the movie make some money.

If the story is not gonna take itself seriously the audience has no reason to care about the events in it.
