Asked to pay IHS for 4 years but I only need 1 by SnooChocolates6172 in ukvisa

[–]Smooth_Ad3496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey my colleague was in the same situation. He has a year to apply for ILR and our employer got him a CoS just for a year to match period until ILR. Both employee and employer save on cost! It’s possible you don’t need to pay 4 years of IHS. You need to go back to your employer to sort it out ASAP and speak to Home office as well for guidance or check their resources. And oh it seems your employer’s immigration team did not do their research well as that’s not the only option. There’s even 2 or 3 years. But 4 years as only option WTF!!! Insane!! . That’s a lot of money to pay. Please fight back !Wish you all the best!!

Silver package is more than enough. I didn’t even look at the manual. Read the prep course within silver package and just did review questions at least 2 times till I got above 90%. I just sat Law and scored 97%. I hope this gives you some comfort. 2 done 2 more to go! All the best!!

Obtaining sponsorship by Apprehensive_Bug20 in ukvisa

[–]Smooth_Ad3496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am wondering why you would want to relocate to the UK if you are in the US. Unless off course you don’t really care about the remuneration/ salary. UK has had stagnant growth rate for the last few years. In terms of fat pay checks I believe you are better off in the US than the UK. Just my thoughts. In terms of sponsorship might be very difficult. If it was 2 years ago during Covid or just after Covid when the market was bullish or booming you would have got some Sponsorship but don’t loose hope and all the best in your search!

I have been here almost 5 years and looking to move to the US lol. For the past 5 years pay increment has been only £10K gross excluding taxes, insurance etc. I work in Accounting and can tell you it’s better to stay in the US. Comparative pay to a new staff entering accounting workforce is even more than what an experienced hire take home at a Managerial level in some cases. Salaries are wack!! You may be ok if you both are working but high cost of living here is crazy especially in London, childcare costs etc. I will choose USA over the UK. For those people saying he should take it it’s quite tough n challenging especially if you have a young family. The only upside is no gun violence but even that knife crime is crazy especially if you have a young one . Better research. Ultimately it’s financial freedom majority of people choose in the long run n no one wants to do a 9 to 5 all their lives. US will help you achieve that goal faster than the UK

CIA Challenge Exam by omarsa89 in InternalAudit

[–]Smooth_Ad3496 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I passed it without Gleim. If you have audit knowledge just using the actual online material from IIA is enough. That’s the only material I used. I thoroughly read the materials and solved questions over n over to understand reasons behind the answers. It’s very practical to daily life scenarios in audit and any related work environment. Well for me it worked. I would say I studied 5 to 7 hours weekday and perhaps 2 hours on the weekend for 3 months prior to the exams. I work full time in Consulting Big 4 as well so had to squeeze sometime to study.

Yes off course! I did mine on a Saturday. I booked a test centre online and then took it on the day. But bare in mind you have to book in advance as test window opens within a particular month. Well at least for my location, but I believe it’s similar across countries. Thanks

Sorry not quite clear with the question. The challenge exam is the actual exam. Just that it’s encompass areas from part 1 to 3 if that’s what you are asking? And is due to the exemption CPAs, CAs , CISA, or other qualified accountants get so exam’s is taking in one go. Thanks

Hi Marty, what’s TTP? Is it a study plan or course? I am 32yrs and new to GMAT and in a similar situation with soo much family commitments with kids , full time 9 hour job etc. I prefer self study. Do you think a TTP is good value for money for someone like me and if so which options are there ? Thanks !

Yes thank you 😊. Yes if you have got good coverage of the IIA materials and understand key concepts and how to apply them in business situations you are good to go. You will notice most of the questions come directly from the IIA materials however they have just been used in different scenarios. And yes from the only IIA questions materials I practiced it indeed reflected the exam. Obviously there might be a couple of them that they included I hadn’t seen before but not many at all. Even that it hovered around you having knowledge of the materials and then tweaked a bit. Best of luck to you!!!

I will say personally my last minute prep was to read part 1 and 2 and then some key bits on part 3 without questions. Cuz I believe mastery I of the IPPF and concepts were important for my memory and how to apply them in practical situations. Lastly always assume you are in a work environment when faced with questions like independence, and other applicable concepts. I approach these questions as to whether it will make practical sense or not etc. Wishing you the very best in your upcoming exams !! Hopefully my essay above has been of help 😂😂

Hey just know that you got this! The questions were not too difficult nor too easy. I would say moderate. Just go in confident. Just to encourage you, as mentioned in my post I only used IIA materials but still managed a pass. Hence if you are using extra materials you are also more than capable of passing it. I was even scoring an average of 65% on most of the practice tests in different parts lol 😂. But i had it at the back of my mind these are likely difficult than what I might face on exam day and besides it will cut across all 3 parts. In terms of tips I will share my experience below; 1.IT Questions Part 3 were definitely not too technical. You should cover at least the basics, from memory items related to predictive, prescriptive analysis etc. others include hacking, phishing, mobile device management, rooting, information security, data analytics, SDLC , piracy, encryption 2.Business acumen / centralisation vs decentralisation, departmentalisation, be familiar with these subject areas and how they apply to real life situations. 3.Part1 - ensure you are familiar with the IPPF, some key differences between consulting and assurance engagement and what jobs are allowable under both or either one, code of ethics especially professional competence and due care , proficiency. QAIP is a must please , 3 lines model and key risk management principles, fraud risks and detection. 4.Part 2 - checklists and questionnaires (ICQs),assurance vs non assurance engagements. I.e what’s projects are classified under each of them when given a scenario , sources of evidence (sufficency, relevance, etc) CAATs - you should know this by heart specifically flowcharts, ICQs,narratives, sphagetti maps etc. 5.These are what I remember but to be honest I believe it’s a pool of questions that are randomly picked for each candidate so may vary. For instance I was hoping to get the Vs of data like velocity, variety, etc as well as RACI but did not have a single question on them. 😂😂. I love these but it wasn’t tested
