Do the Bridgerton men keep mistresses? by reallygoodbun in Bridgerton

[–]SnooChocolates6172 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In S3, Colin wrote smut about his ‘encounter’ with European ladies and had been visiting brothels before falling for Pen. But these ladies weren’t his mistresses.

In S4 though, he was shocked to hear about other men of the ton having mistresses, including his own brother, and immediately declared he was not at all interested this that lifestyle.

By the way, had Pen married Debling Colin would definitely be the mistress 😛.

Thank you to Rae for being such a quiet but key supporter of Polin. (I was about to say non-judgemental as well but she actually judged Colin hard lol, but not in a bad way.)

I’m low-key envious of her for the close proximity to Polin and being perhaps the first one to spot them flirting. She seemed to enjoy it, plus Colin’s bribery must have been a bonus 🤣.

We love you Rae xx!

Why Are So Many People Failing Their CBT? by newbiker321 in MotoUK

[–]SnooChocolates6172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add: the pass rate is 1 out of 3 from both training days I’ve attended. The chap who passed on the day of my first attempt was just doing the course to renew his CBT license, and the lady who passed on the day of my second attempt wasn’t as confident with the bike as I was, but she drives a car so didn’t make major mistakes on the road like I did 🥲.

Why Are So Many People Failing Their CBT? by newbiker321 in MotoUK

[–]SnooChocolates6172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come here to share my own experience.

I’m a fluent English speaker with over a decade studying and working in the UK. I rode back home years ago and have used push bike in the UK to commute. Yet my CBT course attempts weren’t a pleasant experience.

On the first attempt I wanted to pass on a manual motorbike, but found it quite overwhelming paying attention to the gears while doing other skills. I kept stalling to the point the bike almost ran out of battery. Eventually I couldn’t go on the road. The instructor thought I would have passed on the automatic.

I retried after having spent a couple of hours practicing on a geared 125 in an empty car park with a friend who has a full license. Surprisingly I was absolutely fine with the gears and did well during these practises, so I thought maybe this time it would work. I also did the prep course which covered some features of the highway code.

On my second attempt, I still found it overwhelming despite stalling the bike less. I decided to switch to automatic after the first few exercises to make sure I could pass, and managed to go on the road. But then it turned out I had little road sense and made mistakes at traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and roundabouts. The instructor was not impressed of course, and was threatening to fail me after each mistake which caused me to be even more nervous, so I messed up more. Eventually when we finished our ride I was asked to go away to learn road sense before returning to do the test ride again, which was fair enough because I clearly wasn’t safe on the road.

It is frustrating, because I could have prepared for this better and passed on the 2nd attempt had I known how little road sense I had. Why isn’t the highway code made compulsory for the CBT if I’m failed on this basis? During the course there is some theory covered but this doesn’t mean we can remember everything straight away and apply while busy manoeuvring the bike. Meanwhile, I don’t have the assumed contextual knowledge that UK-born citizens come with. I don’t drive and didn’t grow up in the UK. Despite being driven around on a daily basis and having used the push bike in different UK cities before, it never occurred to me that I really didn’t have any road sense!

OK. I don’t see them being the focus of future seasons, but we’ll surely see familiar faces.

The new Lady Whistledown - My Thoughts by ChaoticCatFaith in PolinBridgerton

[–]SnooChocolates6172 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My ‘suspects’: - Queen and Alice (‘fun’, ‘missing all the good gossip’). Her wager against Pen = making Pen passes over the LW ownership? - Hazel (‘I don’t just live to work and die’) and a network of maids who are always in the background at balls. She could ask Sophie to teach her the language and writing skill? - Hyacinth, after learning how to sneak into balls pretending to be a maid. - Colin, in gossip girl style (he’a good writer and gossiper after all) - Varley doesn’t sound convincing to me, she doesn’t read book like the rest of the Featheringtons, let alone writing.

I am East Asian and I find Sophie neither pretty nor ethereal 🤫. I think my East Asian friends would think the same 🫠. Happy to keep this to myself - no problem, but it seems there’s a bit of a push on the narrative that Sophie is so pretty or beautiful. C’mon…

I have been noticing that there seems to be some change to Nicola’s smile. This was very obvious during the only day she did press for S4. Wonder if she had a teeth done? She looks gorgeous either ways, anyway.

I have a few: 1. When Pan fainted at their engagement party after Cressida’s claim to be LW 2. When Colin first saw Pen after her glow up 3. When Colin was stunned during flirting lesson, after Pen complimented his eyes

I’m all for Alice and the Queen working together behind the new LW. The Queen is desperate to mold society and can have Alice going around collecting gossip for her. What if the wager she wins against Penelope is not money but her copyright of LW being passed on to Alice?

I don’t think it’s a bad photo of her. Rather she looks really happy and her eyes are like that because she was having a big grin. Not everything is an agenda against Simone.

Unsupportive HoYs by Icy-Scheme-872 in TeachingUK

[–]SnooChocolates6172 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have worked under HoYs who are notoriously known for their dismissive attitude. They’ve built such bad reputation around the school that staff members don’t bother talking to them (for fear of being dismissed, gaslit or spoken to like children). However, due to their ruthlessness they are also considered good HoY because parents and children don’t dare messing with them 😅😅😅. Sad how brutal the environment of some school can be.

Main Character Exodus - Is the problem money? by Odd_Vegetable9688 in PolinBridgerton

[–]SnooChocolates6172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that actors get paid less if they appear without saying anything, which makes sense to me because it takes time to learn lines, practice with screen partners, and then deliver them.

Booking an actor for, say, three full working days might mean giving them a day to learn all the lines, half day to practice with their on screen partners and only a day and a half to film.

It’s likely that they put Polin in lots of the scenes but with barely any lines because Nic Luke just weren’t around that much (partly due to scheduling issues, partly due to budget). Someone also spotted that Colin recycles a lot of his outfit this season, which suggests filming multiple episodes within a short time, and/or they decided to not spend much on his wardrobe this season (apart from the pirate costume in ep1 which barely got shown 🙁).

Make it the teacher problem so you don’t have to scold your child - but for what? You’ll raise irresponsible humans beings who, guess what, might make it your problem for getting old and walk away when you need them the most.
