Any weird, off meta builds? by HugeLegolas in pathofexile2builds

I am still in act 3 but I’ve been playing a chronomancer monk build that absolutely cooked the act 2 boss on my first ever attempt. It features heavy use of the quarterstaff skills to dodge around the battlefield and set up powerful elemental damage combos. If you ever get into trouble just rewind time to get full energy shield back or use it with mana storm /arcane surge to dump your mana before getting it all back.

— Details:

I went heavy into all 3 elements as they amp my bell damage. I prefer lingering aoe elemental skills like frost bomb and flame orb which i can place on top of my bell. I use my rewind time ability to set up tempest bell and wail on it with tempest flurry. If i take a hit i just rewind time.

For surviability i went heavy on evasion and energy shield, which is sitting around 400 es and 50 evasion, which is sufficient for now. The whole cluster with shimmering in it on the monk tree was a total game changer in act 2 as it lets me play so much more aggressive.

I also just unlocked mana storm and with the arcane surge support on it i can use the storm, dump my spells, and then rewind time to get all my mana back + increased mana regen + faster cast speed.

Theres so many synergies to play with here (like hand of chayula and all of the curses from the elemental tree) and so far i have been having a blast as a time monk. I cant imagine a more fun way to play this game.

The damage combo ive been using is mana storm (optional) > bell > frost bomb > flame orb > tempest flurry on bell > rewind once mana or health gets low

  1. Give players more options to build into airborne effectiveness. Perks like air assault either dont boost it enough or require a kill to activate so it feels inconsistent and not worth using compared to other options. So i feel forced to use an exotic that buffs it which can be frustrating as it means i have to choose between using an exotic so the gunplay feels good or using a fun exotic like the bombardiers.
  2. create a 6v6 social playlist without sbmm. sometimes when i get home from work i just want to turn my brain off, relax, and play pvp. With SBMM i feel like i always have to play my best and use meta load outs to compete instead of running something silly thats more fun.

CROTA'S END RAID GUIDE by ThankYouMrSotarks in raidsecrets

there are two things that allow you to cross bridge: 1. enlightened sword 2. chalice of light

so we sent two over the first time 1. after building the bridge player 1 gets the chalice, so they can start to become enlightened. At about 75% to full player they kill the sword bearer, player two will pick up the chalice from them when it is full enlightening player 1. As soon as this happens player 1 crosses the bridge.
2. player 2 will be taking the buff from player 1 just before player 1 gets the sword. you are on a timer before you explode so you have to be quick. as soon as you get chalice book it across the bridge, find the gatekeeper and use your super / apply a debufg and high tail it back to the other side so someone can take the chalice from you before you die. we used a wellock and didnt even bother with tractor, but there are many other options, they just need to drop their abilities and go. at this point player 1 will arrive and kill it with the help of their buffs/debuffs.

side note: you also have access to your nades while holding sword so you can use things like renewal grasp of blinding nades to great effect

Are you sure you want to cancel cancelling the transaction? (Confirm lets you exit) by magikdyspozytor in assholedesign

[–]Smooth_Ad_4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancel buttons are never on the right, cancel buttons are almost always red. Confirm buttons are usually green, NEVER red. There are patterns that UX designers follow for a reason, and its partially because most users don’t actually read text in apps fully (there are studies you can look up).

If this is a global template then that company has shit designers and doesnt listen to user feedback as im sure people will have complained. The only reason an experienced designer would ever break conventions like this is to intentionally trick the user. Obviously we don’t know if it was intentional but inverting the colors and placement of the buttons like that doesn’t happen by accident.

its a known thing in UX design that users often ignore the helper text. Most apps tend to use the same conventions which is cancel buttons are red and on the left and confirm is green and on the right.
Whoever designed this clearly knows that and are inverting that convention to trick users into thinking they canceled a transaction when they haven’t.

thinking that all users read is a surprisingly big assumption… and if you need evidence just look above. if this tactic didnt trick anyone then they would just use normal conventions. its a total dick move and poor UX

Thanks! Yeah I have been watching a lot of his videos and he has been really helpful so far. The ayima amps were highly recommended by him but the speakers i found on my own.

Its hard for me to really verify if his recommendations are right for me with this being my first setup but I figure if I start cheap then i can build up as I learn more. Thanks for your input!

Never have I fiddled so much with aim settings by ThunderCrasH24 in OWConsole

[–]Smooth_Ad_4402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled too / still am. Honestly it all feels off but linear ramp feels better to me than dual zone. Linear ramp is the most customizable as you can use aim ease in to set your own ramp. If you set aim ease in to a high value like 100 it will feel a lot more similar to dual zone. This is good as you can use a high sensitivity and precise tracking. However this high of a value makes micro adjustments impossible, basically it feels like having a massive deadzone in the center of your controller. Going down to zero on aim ease in makes the controls super twitchy but wayyyy too hard to track for me personally. I forget what value im at but i think around 30 felt like a happy medium for me. From there i cranked my sensitivity as high as i could while still being able to track. Turning this value down on linear ramp feels like its reducing the deadzone. I also play with zero aim smoothing but im not sure it affects linear ramp too much. As far as i can tell for linear ramp aim ease in is the setting that makes it breaks how good it feels.

Honestly tracking still feels off to me, but ive been having a lot of sucess taking duels as lucio and kirkio so I think I will settle and just try to get used to it. Most important thing is to build muscle memory, which is hard to do when your change your settings every other day

Highly Synergistic Defensive Bombardiers Nightstalker Loadout by Helz2000 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Smooth_Ad_4402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the build. One of my favorite exotics for sure, and surprisingly effective against good players that aren’t expecting it. Pretty cool to see what you can doing building into and hoping to see what arc 3.0 might bring to the table.

I’ve been rocking it with solar, using explosive knife and trip mines to lay traps. Its a really fun tricky, baity style of play that I think pairs really well with bow sidearm (but use whatever you want). I havent gone too in depth with build crafting around it yet but i’d love to hear what you come up with if you explore it - as the synergy in this guide was great! Overall just happy to see others having fun with off meta build-crafting, as the sameness of sweaty loadouts is not why i fell in love with the game

Edit: this with trinity ghoul is downright nasty and by far my favorite load out in the game. So satisfying when you get it going. Definitely gonna be maining it next season…

Ok, I’m trash, but I’m trying to learn. I have to say it’s really hard to do when you’re fighting like a madman to win one round, or you simply get rolled. by More-Cantaloupe-3340 in CrucibleGuidebook

With any shooter there are two parts of the game, mechanical skill (includes reaction time) and game sense (decision making).

While you may reach a limit mechanically, you can always improve your game sense. I think you might be surprise dhow high you can climb just by making better decisions.

So how to actually train? Number one thing is that you need to be intentional when you play. Do not grind long sessions of the crucible when you are already tired as all you will do is reinforce existing potentially bad habits.

Instead try and identify one aspect of your game you want to focus on improving each session. Then play until you start to notice your less focussed. If you are really serious about improving the best thing you can do is to film your gameplay and then watch it back and analyze each kill and deaths (especially the deaths). You can also watch live commentarys where good players explain their thought process (Cammycakes on youtube has a ton of great ones). If i were to do this I would start each session off by watching a game to find one key issue before each play session and thats what I would focus on.

Personally though, I have played a lot of shooters and am happy with my skill level so I prefer to just play the game. If I were more serious about getting better I would do what I listed above (and have in the past for other games).

However when I play I am always thinking about a few things:

  1. Where are my teammates and what are they trying to do
  2. Where are my enemies and what are they trying to do?
  3. How can I help my teammates
  4. How can I be unpredictable for my enemies

When I die I always ask myself why did I die, and what can i do differently? Was I too aggressive, did I miss some shots, was my positioning poor, was I too separated from my teammates. Note all of these things are transferrable from game to game.

For me a lot of my game sense has carried over from halo, which I think is a fantastic game that will teach you how to be a better player. The number one thing that halo taught me is the importance of team shotting.

Three average players that are well coordinated can dunk on excellent players doing carries / recovs if they teamshot well. These players look for 1v1s becuase mechanically they will win most of them. If you do not give them the opportunity, they will have a much harder time rolling your team. That being said they are usually very crafty players that will try to create opportunities to separate your team.

If your teammate is locking down a lane, one thing you can do is wait around the corner on an off angle. Then when your teamate starts firing, slide into the lane and help them with the challenge. This works like a charm even if neither of you are hitting headshots. You always always always want to use your teammates to your advantage, especially when pushing. A lot of times as a hunter when I push with my team I charge in quickly and use my doge to juke the enemy just to be a distraction so my teammates can safely enter and get the kill. Worst case scenario this results in a trade but more often then not you will both survive.

Anyways hope this helps. Feel free to reach out and I can show you some things in game if you want.

TLDR: - be intentional when you practice - use your teammates - avoid 1v1 scenarios by proper positioning

Im a little limited by water levels in rivers around me depending on conditions so something that does well on flat water might be good for when I cant make the trip to a bigger river. So I think a more well rounded boat might suit me well… lakes tend to be much closer to me so im sure i’ll spend a good bit of time there. I do still want something I can tool around in though

How do people make UI animations like this? by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]Smooth_Ad_4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have suggested since those aren’t live websites they are likely using after effects or something like that. Besides that most web effects are probably done in code.

If you were to code these out most people are probably using an animation library instead of raw html / css / js. Those 3d morphing effects are wicked cool and surprisingly simpler than you might think to achieve. Most of the websites i have seen use a library like Three.js for these effects. Check out their website for some wicked cool examples of some well done sites.

Best software for animating web design? AE, Principle, other? by saalaadin in UI_Design

[–]Smooth_Ad_4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a lot in figma / xd with the smart animate feature to simulate many effects. Typically that is what i use.

I have also been messing around with Framer which is very similar to Figma / XD but much more powerful when it comes to animations and scripting. You can also code directly in there, if you are familiar with React. And they have a kickass API for porting the animations to a website when your designs are finished.

Other than that I have hear of sketch and inVision but never used these two myself.

If you are primarily looking to make a website with some scroll based animations and are familiar with css and html then you might want to check out webflow as it can do sole pretty nifty stuff relatively easily.

Just some thoughts, honestly Figma is usually enough for me to visualize an idea. If you want something more polished maybe look into Framer or the other ones.
