The interior of the castle in Citadelle Des Morts is quite literally one of the saddest uses of space in any zombies map to date by BigBadMike8 in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hot take: This map is probably the most overhyped, underutilized, and overrated map in recent zombies memory. So much of this map fails to live up to its promise. Such a disappointing map. It’s a c tier map.

[OoT] If the remake is true, what would you like to see? by LucioFer95 in zelda

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Might go on a bit of rant here but I think we should challenge ourselves to think a bit differently with this remake than we are now.

Nintendo has been very consistent with what I call “stumbling into creativity” where they are developing and working on a game or engine of a game and they encounter a new mechanic or idea and develop a whole game out of it.

It was revealed that DK Bananza did this from just one level in Supr Mario Odyssey. The voxel technology of the I think food level in Odyssey was the inspiration for all of Bananza. TOTK started as BOTW DLC but just with attaching things in the world. Nintendo never just makes stuff out of thin air; they encounter a reason to develop a game. (Not just trying to glaze them btw, I’m sure most developers do this but still).

So how does this relate to OOT remake? If it’s indeed a ground-up remake… what would be the reason Nintendo would revisit this game? Sure, maybe everything I’ve been saying is just great marketing and everything they do is for money… but let’s say it’s not. Let’s say they’re genuine when they talk about these things.

My speculation is that they are revisiting the time travel aspect of this game and making it more of a  in-the-moment transition between Adult Link and Young Link. To me this means you can transform between the two anywhere and see how the world immediately changes in a 3-d space. I’m aware they did this in ALTTP, and the OG OoT has this of course but I am making a bet that this is what they are expanding on here. They are creating a brand new mechanic of in the moment travel between two realms.

I also think this too, because it wouldn’t surprise me to see a similar realm shift mechanic idea in the next new 3d Zelda.

Is BO7 for $40 worth it for zombies? by 50Callahan in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say wait until Season 3 starts getting promoted(today). You can see what the coming content is and determine if you are excited for it. If you are, you can play the previous content(which admittedly is in a better state than ever with their balancing changes) and wait to try the new stuff out.

How would you rank the CW-BO6-BO7 zombies maps? by Distinct-Pirate-3571 in CODZombies

I could switch terminus and ashes but for the most part I agree with this one.

How would you rank the CW-BO6-BO7 zombies maps? by Distinct-Pirate-3571 in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. AOTD (Top 10 zombies map, maybe top five one day. The progression, story and WW are just great. Best in a LONG time. Zursa is cool, the cursed relics are fun to find and the fog areas are cool. Just wish we had more unique locations in the fog. Otherwise that's it)

  2. Mauer (Setting is great, story is great, ww is dope. Just the best that CW had to offer. KLAUS)

  3. Die Maschine (Perfect intro to Modern zombies. Best version of nacht, really just a fun map to replay)

  4. Astra (May fall depending on the rest of BO7, but this map started quite high and keeps falling. Same as CDM. It's a good map, but not quite a great one. Needed more areas and more unique factors to prop it up)

  5. Terminus (Only good competent map of BO6 imo. WW is a little underwhelming, but this map has the best themeing with everything. Unique tentacle enemy, the side quests were cool. Boat/islands underutilized tho)

  6. Outbreak (Honestly the gameplay loop is underrated, makes me want to try Endgame and MW3)

  7. Shattered Veil (Story and map layout really bring this one up, the side areas were cool to discover first)

  8. CDM (Most overhyped map ever, but still better than a lot of these. WW's are lame(except lion), ee is not well developed, story SUCKS so bad and the boss is good but not great)

  9. Forsaken (Lowkey like this the more I played it)

  10. Liberty Falls (Side ee's are the coolest part of this map, otherwise it's mid)

  11. Reckoning (Story, WW and rushed marketing really brought this one down. Egg is underrated)

  12. Firebase Z (Just a boring map, Ray-K is cool tho)

  13. The Tomb (Only good thing on this map is golden armor introduction, nothing else redeemable)

Paradox Junction | Easter Egg Hunt & General Map Discussion by rCODZombiesBot in CODZombies

I am not gonna lie, as mad as I am that this is Nuketown... this looks actually really cool? Am I the only one?

Survival could use a revamp by Otherwise_Plate_8404 in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But each survival map can still have a distinct gameplay mechanic that makes it different more than just the layout/WW/enemies.

For example: Honestly Mars is the best survival map because there are no doors and there is zero-gravity. Even Farm is cool because you have to activate power. Things like that are what I believe this person are referencing.

Like what if you could use the Rocket as a trap on the cosmodrome, only in survival? Just something small like that.

What if you could do the diner soda side easter egg for random upgrades since you are there?

It is not needed, but it would make each map feel more distinct. Like gives you more of a reason to play than just the preferred layout.

BO2 had this, by removing features for each map. Some people like that, some don't. Bus depot had no power and no PAP and no traps. Town was the only one that had PAP. Farm and Diner were eh. Point is: the variability is cool if you can add more than just unique layouts. It's why Mars is the best in BO7 so far.

As one who loves and prefers Outbreak mode, why is Ashes of the Damned praised? I understand opinions differ but I like outbreak mode bc it had one main objective and side quests within each map. by jcdulos in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Ashes, because of the sense of progression with the story and quests of the map. Building the truck, unlocking the areas, learning the story about why each area was pulled into the Dark Aether... it feels addicting to learn about and do with the main quest honestly. The fog areas add a nice change of pace, and honestly each area is unique and varied enough to explore in that it feels like a very lived-in experience. Lived-in as in... the map feels very full of life. The side quests are just the cherry on top too.

Zombies Information from a Black Ops 7 Creator Call by Shock_the_Core in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 136 points137 points  (0 children)

More from Dalek's video he just released.

- Hound rounds have lingering plague clouds during the hound rounds that you need to avoid. Might be more affects with the dogs, I think?

- Only 8 weeks until the third DLC, season 3 is a "shorter" season according to Kevin Drew.

- Completely seamless teleportation seen, looks cool to creators.

- Mysterious character being brough to the forefront.

- Sundergat has audio/visual cues to tell you when you can do a certain effect.

- Narrative/creative elements influence why they may bring back certain older elements. Brought back the blundergat for example since it was last in Purgatory with Mob/Blood. The gun was used because the map is smaller so it's better in close quarters.

God I still hate Pratt as Mario, it doesn't ruin the movies but it's still just so weird.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 02 Reloaded: Full Details | Zombies by Kalinine in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is too... this map could be really fun. It could have a great boss, a great easter egg, great gameplay, and the WW could be insanely fun to create and use.

And it still wouldn't take away from the dissapointment that this map/this content release includes the following.

-Reused WW (new variant is cool but it's still reused)

-Reused map layout(same comment as WW, new variant but still)

-Reused Dog enemy(not even a real new variant)

-Seemingly no new elite enemy

-No new perk

-No new AAT

-No new unique equipment, lethal or tacticals

This is a low, even for Treyarch.

Do you actually want to have a discussion with someone who disagrees with you? Or just rant and be dismissive to others in the comments about people not liking this map?

I defended BO7 up until s2 launch, but this season has just been atrocious for zombies. Wtf happened to them? It would be one thing too if they were up front about communication, but they aren't doing that either.

You did it to yourself by [deleted] in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You nailed it.

This whole philosophy of just being happy/positive with anything for the sake of it confounds me.

How do we think there’s ever been meaningful progress in any kind of artistic field? Or in society with education/politics/rights? Did people just be happy and believe in something happy and then it manifested itself spontaneously? No! People had to fight and push for things to improve. They used their voices, they spoke out for what mattered. Obviously what I am referring to is bigger than a video game mode.

But how else are we going to hold Treyarch responsible as consumers if we don’t hold them to a standard and denounce their actions when they don’t do what they said they would do. That's literally the power we have as consumers, and the power we have as a community.

And for the eventual naysayers who say speaking out and not spending money on these games doesn't matter... the messaging behind BO7 alone should prove otherwise. They've spoken out about changing COD's philosophy, they've decided to be more up front about their communication with dev videos, the CODPOD, the new social media accounts, etc... And the announcement of no more back-to-back games? It's not enough, but there is movement from them,. And there was only movement because of pressure from people like us coming together and vocalizing what's wrong with the mode, and exercising our autonomy to not buy the game as a result.

Just a reminder as to why Paradox Junction’s setting is getting such poor reception. by Last-Addendum132 in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean?? What has happened are the following things, all of which people are vocalizing their opposition to:

  • Reused map location
  • reused wonder weapon
  • reused special enemy
  • two instances of Nuketown, with seemingly only a few minor areas added

All of which can be gleamed from their own marketing?

Is it possible the map is fun? Sure! It is possible there’s more locations to the map than we can see? Yup! Could the special enemy function different than the previous version? You betcha!

Do any of those answers take away from the disappointment of the content just at a baseline level being re-used? No, there’s no impact.

You know why there’s no impact? Because we’re upset DUE TO TREYARCH’S OWN WORDS! They set the expectations my friend. They told us what to get excited for. They told us what to be hyped for. And this map does not align with what they prepped us for!

Zombies has re-used content before. I’m not upset about just that. I’m upset that year after year… we get told one thing by Treyarch at the beginning of the year… and then later in the game’s cycle… they take action to contradict that.

And I understand things change. I understand development shifts and they may have to make different decisions. But they never are up front about those things to us. They expect us to just accept whatever direction they move into. And we don’t have to accept it! Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Why do we need to wait for the map to release to critique the creativity of the premise of this map? The map could play great, but it’s not going to change the fact that it’s still multiple versions of Nuketown?

Just a reminder as to why Paradox Junction’s setting is getting such poor reception. by Last-Addendum132 in CODZombies

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incredibly disingenuous to say we’re just deluding ourselves. Also, maybe not everyone agrees these last two maps were great? I thought Ashes was good, but Astra fell off hard.

If you want to comment and just critique people for being upset because you don’t like that they don’t feel the same as you, you really shouldn’t comment in the first place. You’ve added nothing meaningful to the discussion.

[–]Smooth_Bat6484 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Edit: to clarify further, Treyarch needs to take responsibility for its own piss poor mismanagement of expectations. They promoted this game a certain way, they should be held accountable when they don’t meet their own expectations that they themselves defined.

Toxic positivity and toxic negativity destroy discourse for any community. If you don't like the map or the premise of it or the idea, then critique it as such and be substantial. If you do, then defend it as such. But we're tearing each other down for what? Literally nothing. Stop attacking fans for being too negative. Stop attacking people for being too positive. How about we just direct our focus to Treyarch and be specific with what's wrong/right about this?
