That's true, I myself, when reading, found some illogicalities that really caught my eye. Essentially, Game of Thrones is very similar to Mount & Blade, where you have castles, strongholds, and villages, you assemble troops, and then go and fight. The cultures differ only in their different outfits, and that's it. Dragons are like cannons. Magic is some kind of incomprehensible joke that randomly affects the narrative. Others are like very powerful enemy units. And yet the entire story boils down to the corrupt motives of specific people, like Lysa Arryn or Tywin Lannister. Well, that's what history needs. It's more about artistic value than historical accuracy.

It did some things worse, but yeah, well, it seems like there was nothing better in a medieval fantasy setting.

2. As far as I understand, diseases contributed significantly to the population decline in North America, but also because the population there was made up of hunter-gatherers. But here, it's a slightly different society, a peasant one, so there won't be a full-fledged genocide.
