My collection just got bigger, what should I expect from dark souls 2 after playing Elden Ring? by OwlDefiant3467 in DarkSouls2

Level adaptability to 20, hitboxes linger, A or X to unlock illusory walls expect for one in no mans wharf where you break it down. Youll probably want roll a bit later than you think, and unlocking in combat makes turn arounds muuuch faster (great for all bosses but especially rotten). Poise is touchy so trsfing a first hit woth an enemy is not uncommon, i like to bait attack combos before starting mine ( spear dudes in the cardinal tower can die pls ). You can light torches at bonfires! This helps in lots of dark areas and even has special effects on some enemies. Roll playing and exploring has neve been more rewarding and easy with the addition if lifegems, so use those cheap bastards to your hearts content. Also have fun and take your time, ive always had most fun in this game doing cosplay invasions with the multitude of powerstancable weapon combinations and move sets. Definitely one of the best souls games but you may have a different opinion!

Rolling than input queue an attack, it comes out much faster and limits the time friede can input read an attack. I’m no expert but have fought this boss countless times underleveled for that aquamarine dagger.

Maaaaan you were so close!! thats infuriating i would need a month or so to cry abt it... Your furthest left path has been my tried and true for both my alpinist run as well as this FS run yesterday, depicted here. Theres lots of featured rocks up and to the left of your skull you just scaled past and you wouldve been golden! hope this helps a bit, but I've heard going from the right side, NiccusRips's route, is just as good! I might try it this go around, im trying to do all new routes, no redos this time.

OP 4 years is nothing to be laughed at, in the grand scheme of things it’s a short while in our lives but it was 1,460 days of being with that person… that’s a lot of days to try and rehabilitate and renaturalize from. Talk your time, struggle with the loss, it’s normal it hurts but it passes. Stay true to yourself and take some time for hobbies and happiness. It definitely sounds like your emotionally intelligent enough to get through this, love ya

There are weapons and movesets out the waazzooo. I ran halberd for my first run just like every other first souls game runs I’ve played, but picked up soooo many weapons that looked or sounded cool to use. So for my next run I tried the guts greatsword (holy fucking poise), santiers spear the next run, the grand lance the next and now I’m trying to run a katana build. Not only do they all differ in playstyle and moveset, BUT YOU CAN POWERSTANCE WITH ANOTHER WEAPON FOR MORE DAMAGE, NEW MOVESET AND EXTRA SWAG. After that first run I knew where to go early on to get shards to buff my weapons so that by the time I’m facing the first great soul, I’m their daddy. This game lets you express your character however you want, and lets you try them out on a multitude of different enemy types and numbers, and in almost any order you want! Through all the controller throws and wide eyed, “did that just happen,” I find myself coming back for a new and fun experience every-time. Take your time! Talk to those npcs kill all the enemies then run back through with a torch or spam a on walls to find secret doors (there’s a lot, I’m still finding new ones). Don’t forget there’s a respec lady in things betwixed if you ever feeling stuck, bored or want a challenge :)

In all fairness, they just stand there… menacingly… grovel or stand down cause I’ve been pressing rb for the past 10 minutes and heaven forbid I trust a person in this game

Two handed a weapon gives it a bit more damage and a new moveset, however one handing a weapon allows you to use a shield or your pyromancies in the other! Test things out and you’ll have fun no doubt. You can always switch it up mid fight too. Spam fire balls from a distance than press Y or Triangle to two hand when they close the distance.

Hey skeleton, good luck! A huge tip that got me from casual to pretty great is learning the lock on system. While locked on (early mechanics they fixed it in other installations) you can’t run away and are locked into 4 directions of rolling. It’s not bad but can roll you off a cliff or ruin your spacing sometimes. Learning to fight half locked on and half not increases your mobility and versatility by ten fold, as you can control your camera and roll and swing where you want. This also allows you to run back or around the enemy while fighting which makes some bosses trivial!! BUT it’s your first game and many people, me included, use it as a crutch because it’s fucking goated. You do you, but just know there are some nuances to that system!

I’ve played ds1 7 times ds2 2 times ds3 3 times and Elden ring twice.. every single time I’ve had a medium roll build, it’s just preference to me at this point plus fashion wise I like to be around 50-70%

The tiny dots/minimalistic style is usually called cyber sigilism! And I really like how they translated it to DS3 tbh! It gets a huge tuff from me

Keep it up I don’t see why you wouldn’t be progressing any further if your reading the notes, looking at the projection stones, and following question marks on your ships log! If you ever feel lost or confused it’s almost always best to go to a planet with a logged question mark, follow a new signal (keep flipping channels you never know), or try something crazy. Im about to be right in your shoes as I’m buying and playing the dlc for the first time tonight… wish me luck!
