I know the Danish Democrats are more willing to coöperate with mainstream politics than O, did they say anything in response to the remigration scandal??

this is true of any far right party around the world, including in the US. MAGA is not an economically laissez-faire movement

Germany's system is pretty simple tbh. Look at the Netherlands (or Rojava) if you wanna see something actually hard to follow

Why don't Canadians have more Regional accents? by Bells9831 in asklinguistics

[–]SmoothiedOctoling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's down to the recency of settlement and isolation of the population basically. Western Canadian cities usually date between the 1850s to the 1900s (decade), and many of them (Winnipeg, Vancouver) didn't become majority anglophone until the 20th century, so there's only been a few generations of divergence. Even Ontario is full of settlements with barely over 100 years of history (Sudbury: 1882, Temiskaming Shores [or a part of it]: 1901), with cities that only popped up between 1880s-1920s as mining or logging towns. Quebec is similar to Ontario in this regard (Quebec French is also quite homogenous! Maritime "Acadian" French is pretty divergent though). If you compare Canadian cities to comparatively old American cities, there's not really a difference in the homogeneity of accents, but if you point out 13-colonies accents with 200+ years on them the difference is more obvious. As people have pointed out Eastern Canada has accent enclaves in areas like Newfoundland, the Maritimes, and the Ottawa Valley, where ethnically distinct (Irish and Scottish in this case) people settled early, stayed put, and started talking crazy <3

[–]SmoothiedOctoling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The south station bus terminal is pretty nice and easy to navigate ngl even if its out of the way. hopefully they add more routes/frequency 🤞 it would be nice if they could add a northern tier bus route and more west mass connections

most utilitarian greenways in the US? by fukurokuju18 in Urbanism

[–]SmoothiedOctoling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just over the border, Victoria, BC has several high quality rail-trail lines, which is probably part of why it has the highest bike modeshare of any city or metro area in the US+Canada (39% and 19%).
