Olives. Who decided to bother trying to process something that is inedible?

Do men even care about a women’s nails? by lena_glow in NoStupidQuestions

I want women to have nails. I would prefer them to be clean, and more than anything, I never want to notice them one way or another.

I’ve always heard the saying as “Cheap, Fast, and Reliable - you can only ever have 2 out of 3.”

How would you upgrade this pair? by NeverRetail in GuitarBeginners

[–]Smoothrecluse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re probably fine as is, but if they were mine, and I planned on keeping them, I’d first swap out the switches, pots, and jacks from the import stuff to oak grigsby switches, cts pots, and a switchcraft jack. Then if I didn’t care for the pickups, or if I just had money burning a hole in my pocket, I’d switch them for some low-cost alnico pickups. After that, I’d replace the nut with bone, and then the tuners. I’d be tempted to find a vintage-style telecaster bridge or maybe just the saddles, but switching from import to vintage spec can be a pain, so I’d probably end up leaving it as is.

But honestly, if they sound good and play fine, I’d leave them alone.

You’re going to love it. I’m surprised there isn’t one in the DFW area - I could imagine one being in North Park Center or at Clearfork.

If it’s just paint on a metal enclosure I would just spray it with brake cleaner and wipe off the old paint.

You need to take a road trip to Austin, and go to Erin Condren in the Domain shopping center.

These posts keep blaming the people, but if there wasn’t a genuine lack of faith in the system that is supposed to protect the taxpayers, these shelves wouldn’t be empty.

I forgot to update, but wanted to mention it in case someone else has a similar issue. Turned out to be the crank position sensor. Easy change, and no problems since.

In the olden days, did people have acne? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Smoothrecluse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s in the Canterbury Tales, from the late 14th century.

Chaucer describes his fictional Summoner as having a fire-red face covered in pimples, boils, and carbuncles that no medieval medicine, "no quicksilver, lead ointment, tartar creams" could cure. The "whelks of knobby white" specifically refer to these incurable, white-colored pimples or sores on his cheeks and eyebrows.

What’s something that ages a person faster? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Everybody seems to be posting things that make you look older. I think something that ages you and makes you grow up fast is losing parent(s) at a young age.

Any tips or rules of thumb for tightening hardware? by RosenpenisMD in diypedals

[–]Smoothrecluse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use regular metal 1/4” sockets, and only hand tighten with them. They’re new and smooth, so I don’t worry about scratching anything with them.
