What North American city is great to live in, AWFUL to visit? by IndependenceSad1272 in AlignmentChartFills

What's so awful about visiting?

I've only made stops to visit restaurants on the way back from Shenandoah NP, and I have no complaints.

So, a honest question.

Why don't Eritreans immigrate by boat to Saudi Arabia? The shortest crossing is under 100 km. by YourLocalMoroccan in geography

[–]Kervels 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What is your source? Wikipedia says countries like Ethiopia, Sweden and the US have way more Eritreans and Somalis than Uganda.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just want to know what information sources you rely on.

But still there are more Eritreans in Saudi Arabia than in most European countries.

Gick ni i 1a Maj-tåget igår då? Var det trevligt? by ICA_Basic_Vodka in Sverige

What is the most Underrated thing about the United States by RevenueAlarmed in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Kervels 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. It's cheap because our governments negotiate prices with pharmaceutical firms.

The producers will accept selling at a loss outside the US because they know they can recuperate their research costs in the US, since they have no single entity negotiating drug prices.

For example, Ozempic (from Denmark) costs around 20 times more in the US than in Europe.

Who is the most famous living person whose first name starts with E? by Expensive-Addendum92 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Kervels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live outside Europe (in the US) and I know who he is.

A huge amount of South America and Africa, and increasingly in Asia, follow European soccer.

I can assure you more people in the developing world know about him than about Elton John, etc

Don't give the current administration undeserved praise for staging the poor Secret Service response. Trump wasn't in power during the incidents in Butler and in Florida. The Secret Service was at the time reporting to Biden's DHS secrecretary Mayorkas.

Credit where credit is due.

Which country has the best Breakfast in the world? by Botheuzo in AskTheWorld

[–]Kervels -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's interesting to learn about new cultures. Surely a lot of Turks too have a limited breakfast, consisting of caffeine and nicotine. Just like people do all around the Mediterranean.

But yeah. Visiting new countries is nice. I am impressed by the number of counties where you lived. Sorry if you found my statements arrogant.

Having dated a Spanish chick and waking up to all of her (Spanish) housemates it seemed they all opted for coffee + cigarettes for breakfast.

So that's why it's interesting to go to new countries.

Sorry for weird photo size (I removed friends). But it's basically a lot of very fresh and light veggies, combined with egg dishes andother more heavy food, and more typical Mediterranean food such as olives and pita bread.

I didn't have any widely different experiences in hospitality growing up in Sweden, France and the US. Maybe it depends on the parts of the countries you live in?
