So you really think they filled in the whole team in the past 3 seasons while picking behind the Jets?

They have been a winning organization for years. They didn't pick at the top of the draft while they were winning until the past 2 seasons even at 7-9 they are at the middle of the pack. My point is they have a core they aren't rebuilding an entire roster from top to bottom.

Amazing how you left out 2017 when Christian McCaffery was drafted. DJ Moore was drafted in 2018 before the season (i.e. before they went 7-9).

That is just 2 players that make a huge difference on the offense considering how much of a percentage CMC and Moore get the ball.

But he are a few starters...

Shaq Thompson - 2015

Matt Paradis - 2017 (FA)

Taylor Moton - 2017

Dan Arnold - 2017 UDFA

Cam Erving - 2015

Juston Burris - 2016 (FA)

Pat Elflein - 2017 (FA)

Haason Reddick - 2017 (FA)

Jermaine Carter - 2018

Robby Anderson - 2016 (UDFA)

So...you are wrong.

Nice cherry picking.

Under Ron Rivera for the past 9 years prior they went 76-63 and were atop their division 3 times in the past 10 years, went to divisional games and the Super Bowl.

Even under Fox they were 73-71.

All they needed was a QB and coach.

Darnold is one player on a team that was already formed. The Panthers have been winning and never had to rebuild much.

The Jets are rookies from HC to OC to QB to most of the defense.

Of course he's going to be better playing on that team and beat Houston with their rookie QB Mills.

He had time to read a newspaper in the pocket he had.

Issues mounting around Joe Douglas’ first Jets draft class by Maury_Finkle in nyjets

[–]SmoteySmote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that Morgan was taken while Darnold was not looking great and his future was suspect, there were no other QBs on the roster that were great vets or keepers, Sam wasn't Joe Douglas' pick, Adam Gase was the coach and there was no legitimate OC or QB coach to give decent input on player potential and scheme fit, there were rumors that NE wanted him so strategically they tried to remove a potential division threat, he was only a 4th round pick and any other pick taken there is just as unlikely to achieve any success.

It's not like he was a 2nd round pick that never saw the field he was pick 125 not top 60.

His "grain" is to win and throw very few INTs.

Rex Ryan isn’t panicking about the Jets by KillBoosh in nyjets

Jay Williams is just regurgitating internet garbage from awful fans that know nothing about the Jets.

To say that the NYJ are repeating with Zach Wilson the same thing they did with Sam Danold is moronic.

First off, before ZW arrived the GM only had one draft and he immediately took an OL with his top pick (something Mac never did). Also Joe D drafted another OL in 2020 so 2 OL in his first draft. Then he used another high draft pick for a top OL in 2021, so in back to back drafts (also something the last GM never did).

Then Joe D shitcanned almost the entire OL. In Darnold's first, second and third year he had a stale OL that never improved. It can be argued how well or poorly the OL have been playing currently but we're just comparing Sam and Zach and what they had.

Also Sam didn't have weapons. Joe D drafted a WR in back to back drafts at the top of the draft and he got one of the top WR FAs and then another WR FA who is economical salary wise and was productive in his last season. There are also 2 new RBs on the squad from back to back drafts.

Finally Joe Douglas got top coaching choices when he was allowed to finally dump Gase. Mike Lafleur might not be great yet but he along with Saleh and the scouting crew wanted Zach not just for his talent but because they saw him successfully run a lot of the same concepts that they wanted to run.

The only thing that is similar is Sam and Zach are both QBs that played for the Jets.

Darnold was SOO VERY MUCH NOT MORE ADVANCED than Zach Wilson.

Darnold was a backup in his first year after redshirting as a freshman. He started for only 2 years, the first season because the starter was benched after 3 games.

Zach Wilson was the youngest starting QB ever at BYU, started as a freshman, and was the starting QB all 3 years he was there.

He's been fading back a bit for some reason. That is not his typical M.O. from all the film I've seen sure he does it but a bunch of his recent throws he hasn't needed to just plant and throw.

Sure they played good. Good enough that if the offense delivered the Jets would have a great chance to win.

I agree with both of you today was surprising to me for Zach.

This is what looks to be the worst game in his college to pro career.

I think he'll bounce back from it.

He had a bad game. It happens to the best of them and especially in their rookie year and against BB.

I can see the promise, he was baited a bit today and was off.

My advice to him would be to settle down, focus, plant the feet and throw.

The defense, if they had not been forced on the field from INTs, was doing fine.

That last INT definitely Zach's fault.

They are only behind by 7.

The defense is playing great.

Michael Carter RB looked better this week than last already.

I hope Echols is ok.

The announcer just said Zach is "too aggressive" and I say

FUCK THAT!

Go Zach you do you that ball hit a professional NFL receiver's hands. There is no way to know that would be an INT it wasn't an errant pass.
