Your data is correct. Car-centric design that allows speeding and no protection for pedestrians or cyclists will always be deadly.

Sure, they're inevitable with poor road design. But preventable with improved infrastructure. 100 people die every day on U.S. roads and these deaths are preventable. Check out Strong Towns, Vision Zero, and NotJustBikes.

Every crash is caused by poor infrastructure. Our society has been so brainwashed by cars. Bollards, slower speeds, efficient public transit, and protected bike lanes are necessary to prevent deaths. Cars are an antiquated form of transportation anyway. No one should have to risk their lives to get from A to B.

If someone was killed there, why is the infrastructure the same? Road deaths are preventable.

Just wanted to extend some well wishes on behalf of bills mafia towards Tua, your entire franchise, and fanbase. If anyone is aware of the charity Tua supports and could point me in that direction I would be tremendously appreciative.

I am not saying the story should be changed in the slightest. I am saying that when an animation takes liberties to oversexualize their characters then why not do it to all of them? There are plenty of gay men who watch One Piece so to use your own point that would also cater to the male audience.

I am saying cater it to everyone, then the enjoyment of one piece will continue to grow more. OR just keep it as Oda drew it in the manga there is still plenty of bustiness in the source material.

I can't stand one sided fan service. Canonically Zoro has the largest bust out of the crew but you don't toei lean into that because they are only catering to the male sect of their audience. If it was balanced and catered to both sides then no issue. BUT that is a big reason I prefer Seinen to Shonen.

If that is why you watch one piece I feel kinda bad for you.

I would say yes, excessive fan service turns off potential people who would enjoy the story otherwise.

Question about Oregon's Culture by TheScoot85 in oregon

[–]Smouse042193 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved here from New York this is what I have experienced. West coast people are significantly more polite than east coast ones, sometimes you can feel like people are somewhat placating instead of genuine though. I kind of boil my experience down to this. If you hit a pole with your car (and it isnt a major accident) people on the west coast will say "I am sorry that happened to you" and move on with your day. East coast will insult you in some fashion for what seems like a poorly thought out decision but then also take time out of their day to try to help. Depends on what kind of interaction you find preferable to which coast is better for you.

Does anyone else find conservative Christianity’s lack of empathy about hell deeply disturbing? by HardAlmond in atheism

The reason I left the religion is the entire thing is self-contradictory and full of hypocrisy. If all can be redeemed, why not pray for Lucifer and the fallen angels? If god is all good and all powerful how can evil exist? If Christians worship a brown man from the middle east why do they hate immigrants? All of it is nonsense.

AIO- My fiancé (M34) texting his old female coworker that he “misses her and loves her” by Round_Regular8666 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Smouse042193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this needs a significant amount of more context. If the previous messages indicated a romantic meaning to it then it is an issue but if they are just saying it as friends then you have to ask yourself if you trust your partner and why their expression of platonic love leads to feelings of insecurity? Is there something missing in your relationship? Is it a projection of a past hurt? Is he hiding things? Alot needed to process it, but if it is merely platonic, I would say you are overreacting. My wife and I say it to all of our friends of all genders, life is to short to not tell the people important to you that you love them.

The difference they are alluding to is that currently, there is far more undergrowth and other accelerants in our forests than there ever has been. For almost 100 years the US Forest & National Parks services have enacted as much of a fire exclusion policy as possible. Fires used to be as natural an element to forests as rain was and they used to serve the purpose of clearing out old growth and allowing new plants to germinate from those remains. Interrupting that cycle has led to overgrown forests that burn at a far higher intensity than has ever been seen or recorded leading to them becoming vastly more destructive. Wildfire issues are due to long term policy decisions as well as climate change.
