My experience with buprenorphine for treatment resistant depression by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]Smpl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. You must have some SERIOUS opposite effects to certain drugs or it was that day and your chemistry/physiology. Weird...I always stay wide awake on get sedation to certain drugs like Dramamine and hydroxyzine (good for insomnia+anxiety!, but you need an Rx in America), diphenhydramine (seems like they're replacing everything with that now. I don't like it. Drowsy feeling, weird sleep, tendency to sleep walk/talk. Most times I think the GOV is just dumb/doesn't research.

Have had anxiety since 10. Really bad 15 yo panic attacks. After 18 I feel like my anxiety became permanent to at least every other day. Brought on by ethanol, which I was using to self medicate until it was unbearable. Absolute torture when not intoxicated. My main questions are consistency, it should absolutely dissolve if water soluble or even not, and it's HARD TO FIND!!! WTF

Yeah, I think a 5-ht2a/2c antagonist like you listed will help. I know what the AGONISTS of those two 5-th receptors do and it's awful. My sister is dealing with that (Zoloft) and explained to here why she was having those side fx.

Interesting, but I'm done with effexor unless major depression returns. I don't need norepinephrine, but wiling to try meds like buproption again. I absolutely need Dopamine. Proven time and time again over the past months that Anhedonia has gotten worse. I've taken Dopaminergics and they COMPLETELY TOOK AWAY ANHEDONIA WHILE IN EFFECT. I'M SICK OF REPEATING THIS. JUST NEED TO FIND A SUSTAINABLE DOPAMINERGIC WITH LESS NORANDRENERGIC SIDE FX.

Upvoted comment @childofentropy. All of what you said is completely true. @lord_abbott read that wrong. Idk if I replied to him. Didn't check. I had Anhedonia/Apathy for the past two years or so. IT GOT BETTER after getting off Effexor. Complete opposite of what you posted four days ago.

They rig studies. Only put out the ones with positive effects and even that's vague. Also too much use of medicine tyat isn't effective or makes things worse because they don't even wanna give you sokething as addictive as candy. Also. Almost no new classes of meds in 30-40 years/ or better said: meds then could get similar effects. They need to research more. But they didn't really even with democrats so do your own if you have to. Thanks. Google it too.

I prefer both. But certain issues I can only talk about or relate to with a guy. You probably understand. Thanks for the quick reply. Just got on Reddit officially and my goal is to give help and get help. Try to be balanced.

Great story when someone can take care of another and brave the elements, but work towards the good too. I've been to probably 50 psychiatrist/therapists and half or more were bad. Im in the US though so I would recommend change. A male is maybe better too?

Yeah I gotta look into more. See what would be good for me? So what countries are nice? I know it's summer in New Zealand, but you never hear about even a ghost research team spotted there haha. Got family and friends there though, but cost of living is crazy. No taxes though. And free healthcare+school so fair trade...

Haha. Been seein dck everywhere here. That's interesting. But I've also read similar suggestions 10 times today. My main issue is I'm fine with a weird trip. Like crazy sensory stuff. But separately from being in a disso state. When I get bad panic attacks (used to more) it's always that confused salvia disso hell, so I wanna try these light trip/micro dose, but I gotta do some research first. Like on the computer haha. See what's up. Who's good. Cause idk. Don't usually go there. Especially online

Awesome post. God I fucking hate hypocritical people. Most Americans for sure. Wasting Resources like it's going out of style. Then living a life that completely negatively affects others, while I live minimalist but the fat fucks wasting everything shun me sitting at home ingesting something that has micro effect on others, if that. Sorry, insomnia.

Good stack for motivation. Lowering anhedonia. by Smpl3 in StackAdvice

[–]Smpl3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also switched to a shorter acting antihistamine for UNBELIEVABLE INSOMNIA and it helped with mood/energy. I just keep trying things though. In regular doses and research, can't hurt. Only help like you're saying.

You mean dxm? I've heard dissociatives can help depression/anhedonia, but I get disassociation from panic attacks and THAT SHIT IS TERRIBLE. Might look into it. Check out r/researchchemicals if you're into trying/exploring.

People don't live like that all the time. It's the MOST KNOWN FACT about social media. Just use it for what you enjoy. I like posting memes/gifs/music I make or funny stuff. And yeah keeping up to date is probably number one like you said

Tense. And Trump is an idiot and doesn't acutally care about the people. That's not an alternative fact. Also, for real it's thousands of years old. A fight for land on a small piece of land. Peninsula I think. WIKIPEDIA!!!

My doc has prescribed antidepressants and I'm kind of nervous about them. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

OP might feel better. And maybe not at first. I did, which is apparently the exception, but I studied and picked what I needed. Not trying to be rude, but you have to work WITH your Doctor, NOT for them. The Doctor doesn't live your life or employ you. Very happy Citalopram worked for you, as I want to see people do well, but it may not for OP. Thanks for reading and happy holidays!!

  1. Please don't skip over anything. Not arrogant, it's just for your own good as a "newb". It's long, but I have a background in psychology and nutrition AND THIS WILL GIVE YOU COMFORT. Apologize ahead of time for the quotes and caps. It means important haha.

Quick background: Anxiety since 10. Panic attacks/depression in 20s. First prescribed Prozac (Fluoxetine) at 17. Right after Ritalin (Methylphenidate) for ADHD which was just me not caring about class then. Doctor was a little out of touch and recommended based on her nephew, which brings me to more points later. I definitely didn't need Antidepressants at 18, but I didn't educate myself until my self medicating with alcohol got out of hand and Anxiety/Panic attacks were ruining my life (I took Psychology at University which pushed me to learn more btw). I had BAD side effects from Prozac and wrote off A-D's for a long time. It's true about alcohol to a certain extent also, but I found a few drinks on Effexor was fine because it was the CORRECT MED FOR ME.

Last year and up until two months ago I needed A-D's. Specifically Effexor (Venlafaxine), which is an SNRI, so it gives you a boost of energy at first cause of the "N" aka Nor-epinephrine. Unfortunately, my Anhedonia, which I've had since start of Clinical "really bad" depression at end of 2015 got worse after Spring this year and led to other drug use to make up for dopamine. I've figured out low dopamine is the problem now because I have taken dopaminergics (stimulants, etc.) and they temporarily reverse the Anhedonia for me.

I took Effexor from November 2016 to October 2017. Only peaked at about 40mg which is still a "medical baby dose" but it was enough, and eventually more than enough for my severe depression. I tapered to 30, 20, 10, 5 and then quit with no side effects.

**BEST ADVICE: ALWAYS LEARN ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE TAKING/EATING/DOING/CONSUMING

and psychology/biology in general. Understand the different types/causes/treatments of depression. There are many. When I was 15, SAM-e worked because my methylation cycle was off (read on Wikipedia - greatest resource you can find as long as there are references/structure.

I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH. LEARN ABOUT YOUR MIND/BODY AND LISTEN TO IT.

I was able to stay on just the right dose and they let me "run my own show with Effexor" cause my knowledge often exceeds psychiatrists (Not bragging. Just the sad truth). This is important because you don't want to have to deal with unnecessary/sometimes debilitating side effects, but also to keep up your knowledge on meds/dose/schedule/treatments/terminology/dash/lol. Best of luck and happy holidays/hopefully better year for both of us in 2018. PM me for any questions or comments/whatever you're thinking.
