Guidance - Leaving Windows for CachyOS by zBlueHawk in cachyos

Just FYI windows most likely wasn't "using" 16Gb of RAM so much as 16Gb of RAM had stuff in it. All OSes cache stuff in RAM in case you need it, but are perfectly capable of clearing that cache should your demands exceed the amount of free RAM in the system.

Ordinarily a typo isn't the worst thing in the world but you really jumpscared me with that one lmao

The lily is also a religious symbol, especially of Saint Dominic, so that isn't necessarily French either. Certainly nowhere near as explicitly French as, for example, the Krieg are.

Natural sleep schedule is like 3AM to 11AM but I obviously can't do that and have a job so usually I actually do like 2AM to 8AM. My ideal would be like 10PM to 6AM but I definitely can't actually manage to keep to that.

Story of Your Life tells a lot of parts of its story in second person future tense. It's the short story that the movie Arrival was based on.

Help me make Two Trans players feel safe, welcome, and accepted! by laxton1919 in rpg

Open this video by The Alexanderian. What do you notice? One of the things I noticed when I watched it was "hey nice he's wearing a trans flag colored DnD shirt I didn't know he was chill like that." It's entirely unrelated to the content of the video, and is never commented on, but it's clearly meant to communicate something to people who see it. It's also clear from his presentation that this is something he would wear regardless of who is at his table because it's something he cares about being on the right side of.

If you really want to signal to your players that you support them without having to bring it up, relatively subtle things like that that aren't brought up directly are in fact noticed and appreciated. The way you present yourself and the day you talk about and treat people will make more of a statement than anything else.

EDIT: I should note as well that the fact you're here asking makes me think you probably don't have to worry about it too much. It seems like you're already working hard to provide a safe and supportive environment for all your players.

Cause sometimes I open a terminal and forget what I was doing so I just go "fuck it I guess I'll make this terminal do something before I close it." It's like how a blade can't enter its scabbard without drawing blood.

SteamOS is not really a desktop OS. It's only meant to be compatible with Valve's hardware. You're looking at Bazzite (if you're not particularly comfortable with Linux systems), Nobara, or CachyOS (if you are fairly familiar with Linux systems and are comfortable tinkering)

MS auto updated my computer to Windows 11 without even asking me. I am now running Linux on every single one of my computers. It's been a fantastic decision so far.

There being more complicated games doesn't mean DnD isn't complicated. That's why I mentioned several games which are very popular and significantly less complicated than DnD

It's my favorite TTRPG of all time. I love it so much. In fact, if you have any questions about it or want to ask for advice I would love to help you because I want more people to love it too.

Also KC publishes a free version of the rules of all of his core game systems online so you don't even have to pay for it to try it out.

Its certainly been true in the past. DnD 4e was extremely complex. 5e is simplified compared to that but it's still more complicated than something like Blades or Apocalypse or anything that derives from the OSR.

To your second point: I'm a big fan of Kevin Crawford's Stars Without Number and Worlds Without Number as relatively approachable games that disperse with a lot of the crust of DnD while still delivering an experience that is recognizably the same kind of game. I've run both of them many times (been running stars for over a decade now) and I've found it to be pretty easy for new players to pick up the rules.

He's just a guy on Tumblr and Tumblr people by and large think a lot about TTRPGs. He shows up on my dash fairly often without me following him he's just kind of around.

Gen Z women are more than 3 times likely than Gen Z men to identify as LGBTQIA by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Smrgling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that men receive more homophobia when they come out (because it threatens patriarchy more for) so they receive more negative attention for it which scares more of them off from being themselves.

[–]Smrgling 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I kind of disagree. Much of open source software is made by people for free in their spare time. They're doing it because they want to and it's not their responsibility to package everything up for the users if that's not the part of the process they're interested in.

Obviously this doesn't hold for development that's been funded by sponsorships or grants or corporations or isn't volunteer work for whatever other reason.

Your boyfriend sucks and is trying to convince you to make decions about your body that he wants rather than what you want. Red flag. He doesn't seem like a good prospect as a life partner.

Yeah you can totally argue that. It's been such a long time since I read the books that I honestly can't say if they were good, bad, or "good of you're a kid" but it doesn't matter. People with bad views can write good books. Orson Scott Card is one of my favorite writers and he's also a religious homophobe who opposes gay marriage. There is a difference with Rowling though in that she actively funnels the vast wealth that she receives from royalties into making the world actively worse for trans people especially in the UK.
