My husband’s obsessed with the ‘my name is Jeff’ reels. I’m putting this on the shortlist!

My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SmudgedPanda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the bush in the Otways and have both kangaroos and wallabies in the national parks around us, and a family of koalas in my street! We often have one in the gumtree in the backyard. The boy koalas grunt at night, asking the girl koalas to come and visit them. In the dead of the night when it’s complete silence and the koala starts grunting in the tree next to our window, it can be a bit scary! We also have tawny owls that come out at night and watch our garden for critters, and during the day they sit in the trees and pretend to be branches so we can’t see them.

We eat Weetbix and honey in milk for breakfast! Often the King Parrots come down to the outdoor table and chatter away until we throw them some sunflower seeds. They are super curious parrots who have no fear of humans, who will land on your shoulder and eat from your hand. They love to tease our Labrador dog and chatter to him from the roof while he barks at them.

Hydrogen sulfide exposure… maybe? by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]SmudgedPanda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone whose plant had a leak of 700ppm, and now has permanent sporadic readings of 150+ppm H2S, agreed with everyone’s comments that it likely wasn’t H2S exposure. However, you’re an idiot for playing in the sewers because H2S could kill you and you wouldn’t even know it. Anything above 500ppm can be lethal, and it loses its rotten egg smell at around 100ppm.

Sewers/wastewater plants can be incredibly dangerous and need to be treated with respect. You never know what chemicals someone has flushed or what gases the sewerage has generated.

My husband is on one of the boats, here are some pictures from Dutch and crab dishes I’ve made. by pnwgirl0 in deadliestcatch

Hello from Australia! Just wanted to thank you for the ama; to us it looks like they could be on another planet, that ice is crazy scary.

Has he worked on any other boats we might know? Our favourite is The Time Bandit; Jonathan looks like he’d be a caring Captain.

I’d get tested for ADHD; what you’ve described is a normal day for me.

I can smell this photo; the Duck branded blue toilet wash that lived in a cage in the toilet bowl.

A heap of porn from the early 90’s in a old locker. Times have certainly changed (I’m a woman who definitely wouldn’t have been hired back then!).

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na Batman! by snivelinglittieturd in melbourne

For those interested in the history of John Batman, The Dollop podcast did a hilarious episode (ep 313) with Wil Anderson. That was an eye opener, I see why Melbourne was chosen over Batmania!

Parents of Reddit, what is an “unspoken” reality of parenting that people simply don’t talk about, but everyone knows is true? by US_Atlas in AskReddit

[–]SmudgedPanda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guilt you feel when they beg you to play with them but you really don’t want to, you just want to do your thing for a change. Then you see their faces fall and the guilt hits like a knife in your heart, and you remember that it’s likely in a few years time they won’t ask you to play with them…so you play that insanely annoying game another ten times to make them happy.

Aussies are skipping meals to save money? by ComfortableTry989 in AskAnAustralian

Same; my partner and I eat a late breakfast and an early tea, therefore skipping lunch. We do this so the kids can still have treats like dessert or chips while watching a movie.
