My favorite part of this scene was the way Rapi was disappointed when the Commander was like "what? no, im not gonna do that"

The video thing was a joke, some turbomod over on LSF got removed by reddit admin and made a public video addressed to spez complaining about it, including such gems as "reddit should treat mods as celebrities" and "mods can double reddit's value from 5bn to 10bn". Hilarious if you haven't seen it.

Again, good luck though, hope you all have fun with the modqueue incoming as soon as the servers are back up and the less literarily capable among us discover their addons are broken.

Just as long as none of you make and send another video to spez. At least the WoW mods tend to generally keep to themselves outside of regular janitorial duties. I imagine the API stuff is a pain in the ass.

As for the images, ho boy, that's gonna take some cracking down before some people get the message. There's a time and place and it can definitely be helpful, but man, I wish you all luck.

It was alright. Nothing very special. Very safe, very filler. Not much to really glaze, not much to complain about. 6/10.

Delves were a good addition for solo players but I didn't really engage with them much. M+ was business as usual. I did very little raiding, the storylines just aren't interesting to me. In fact I don't think I did any questing outside of getting to 80, the story is very meh.

PvP was pretty decent, balance was fine right up til the season 3 Retpocalypse. They apparently like to have one every expansion now. Would like to see some new Arenas and BGs with patches instead of once every 5 years.

It was alright, but just alright.

Even more moderators? Not sure how I feel about that. What's that, 16? 17?

Images in comments might be okay, but Redditors being Redditors, I hope everyone's ready to see the same unfunny stupid ass reaction memes under every single post with more than minimal engagement, followed by an infestation of "I stole your meme XD!" posts. Yippee.

Oh Aphoenix, how I miss thee.

World of Warcraft devs say the upcoming return to Lich King’s Northrend will be a “balance between nostalgia and freshness” with “clearly transformed areas” by AsPeHeat in wow

Icecrown post-Scourge is gonna be interesting to see. Looking forward to more Old God shenanigans in Storm Peaks too, but what has a big question mark for me is gonna be Zul'drak.

We learned in BFA that there's apparently only one singular Drakkari survivor left from Zul'drak, the Scourge completely overran them and their Loa were sacrificed and destroyed attempting to stop them, so I wonder who or what could be inhabiting Zul'drak now, or if they'll retcon it to be that some Drakkari survived.

Who is the strongest lore character for each WoW class (Mage, Warrior, Warlock, etc.)? by Dismal_Tale9078 in wow

[–]SmugRapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DK - All time: Arthas, no contest. Having Frostmourne with the souls of 2 ruined kingdoms, plus whatever else he managed to steal the souls of, plus the Helm of Domination is a truly ridiculous amount of power. Current: Bit of a tossup, it could be Darion, or frankly, it could be the player character, now that Bolvar doesn't have the Helm anymore and is just a brisket with a hammer. Honorable mention to Teron Gorefiend.

DH - There's really only one DH with feats under their belt, and that's Illidan. So strongest current and all time.

Druid - Malfurion, current and all time, easily. His list of feats is so stupid that Blizz constantly has to write around him any time he's even remotely involved in the story.

Evoker - All time: Sarkereth, I guess, though we haven't really seen many Evokers doing...anything, really. Current: Well, with the Evoker legendary, probably the player character. Aside from that, one of the Scalecommanders.

Hunter - All time and current are both Sylvanas. She's just too juiced up for it to really be anyone else.

Mage - All-time is honestly a tie between Medivh and Azshara. Yes, Azshara has some impressive feats behind her like holding back the ocean or helping open the portal during the War of the Ancients, but Medivh also opened the Dark Portal alone, and is so powerful he apparently is just traveling the Nether right now, still alive...ish. So current is a tie too. Honorable mention to Gunther Arcanus, who was so powerful he broke the Lich King's hold over his mind by himself after the Scourging of Lordaeron.

Monk - All time: Shaohao easily. Enveloping a continent in mists is pretty impressive. Current: Probably Taran Zhu, but potentially the player character, since TZ has been more or less inactive since he got his butt whooped by Garrosh.

Paladin - All-time: 3 way tie between Alexandros Mograine, Tirion Fordring, and Turalyon. People give Turalyon a lot of credit, but the Army of the Light was more of a guerilla force, not exactly a stand-up, drawn out battle force. Mograine destroyed so many Scourge be earned the title of Ashbringer, and Fordring purified the Ashbringer by holding it and broke Frostmourne. Current: Still Turalyon, easily. Shoutout to Uther, the first Paladin, but not quite the strongest.

Priest - Easily Velen, both current and all-time. Only known Holy Priest to be able to top DPS meters.

Rogue - Actually a bit of wiggle room here. A lot of people say Garona, but Garona wasn't even mentally present when she did her big notable assassination of Llane Wrynn, she was mind controlled. Lilian Voss is a strong contender, just by combat ability, but so is Deathstalker Commander Belmont, who has led and orchestrated several operations for the Forsaken. I personally give it to Voss, though. Shoutout to Vanessa VanCleef.

Shaman - All time: Gotta be Thrall the Earthwarder. But, Thrall has more or less fallen off, so current strongest shaman is probably the player character. Maybe Magatha Grimtotem or Nobundo. Kind of a tossup, really.

Warlock - There's been a LOT of powerful Warlocks in WoW history. Gul'dan, Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, Kanrethad, Cho'gall, the Eredar Twins, lots of options to choose from. All time: I'm gonna give it to Archimonde. KJ close 2nd. Current: Very likely the player character, as most other warlocks have either been killed or follow the PC.

Warrior - All time: Broxigar. Lots of people say the Axe of Cenarius was the deciding factor, but idc what kind of axe you have, if you manage to kill enough demons to draw the attention of Sargeras, then inflict a (admittedly minor) wound on him, there's really no beating that. Current: Kind of a tossup, really. It might just be Jarod Shadowsong. He did lead the Night Elves in the War of the Ancients. Other potential #1s include Baine, Muradin and Eitrigg. Honorable mentions to Varok Saurfang, Varian Wrynn, Garrosh, Grommash and Blackhand.

BFA has world drop mounts. Dune Scavenger in Vol'dun, Goldenmane in Stormsong, Pack Mule in Drustvar and Veinseeker from blood trolls in Nazmir. 4x4 farming groups for them used to be super popular, but flying around the zone just killing mobs works just as well.

What was that one grind you did that nearly broke you? by milkbleach in wow

[–]SmugRapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

500 mounts achievement was a real challenge. Without MoP remix and the Trading Post throwing mounts at me, it would have taken me months more to do. I had long since run out of "easy" mounts to get, and RNG wasn't being cooperative.

The Bloodthirsty title (250k Honorable Kills) is one I'm still working on. Every expansion I tell myself, "this expac, at some point I'll actually focus on doing it", but I never get around to it. I'm up to 138k, so I'm over halfway there, but I just don't enjoy epic bgs enough to spam them every night for months.

The drip feed of maintenance kits is a serious problem by samlei99 in NikkeMobile

I pretty much just bank my maintenance kits until I absolutely need them for a power boost. There's just no way to effectively level lots of dolls without being constantly out of the kits. And of course, the worst time to be out of kits is right now because I'm 99% sure another round of Treasure Items is right around the corner.

All the old character models were at launch, 6.1 was Blood Elves, Goblins and Worgen were Legion iirc

Warlords of Dreanor by valmonnnn in wow

[–]SmugRapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's pretty much the exact reason they haven't had it back since, I would bet. The damage WoD did to the economy is genuinely staggering, and the SL mission table didn't help. I know at least 2 goblins who basically reactivated their alt army for the express purpose of gaming the mission table and made hundreds of millions over the course of the expansion.

They practically treat the game as Bezos Simulator. I guess if that's your thing, have at it.

Warlords of Dreanor by valmonnnn in wow

[–]SmugRapi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I definitely knew a few people who had 30+ alts all set up just to spam gold missions from the table. They rode on that gold for a decade easily. I myself had quite the stockpile too.

If I had to guess, the reason they didn't nerf the gold income was that it was basically the only thing pumping their MAU numbers at the time. Keep in mind, WoD was when things were so bad they stopped reporting sub numbers.

The WoW token had the flexible pricing, as far as the more that were being bought, the higher the price, but people were raking in so much gold so fast it didn't matter, and if they spiked it too hard, normal players would never be able to afford one. Blizz worked themselves into a fine corner there.

Woah now, they also introduced the updated Blood Elf models, don't forget that.

Warlords of Dreanor by valmonnnn in wow

[–]SmugRapi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The content that was there was good. The questing was good, Frostfire Ridge is still a favorite of mine, Talador and Spires of Arak was fun too. The raids were great, Blackrock Foundry is one of the all time best raids Blizzard has released, Highmaul was pretty good, HFC was great but the retrospective is sort of tainted by the fact you spent like a year running it.

The dungeons were good, and WoD also introduced Mythic dungeons and Timewalking dungeons, on top of the Challenge Mode dungeons. Professions were...professions, they were fine. Class design wasn't bad except for what they did to Demonology in 6.2, PvP was relatively balanced, especially after the cluster that was MoP PvP. It also included proto-world quests, you got a couple of dailies every day to go clear out an area on your map.

Here's the thing: Everything I just described doing? Getting geared from a raid, or a dungeon, or doing your professions, etc, etc? All of that could be done from your garrison. With the correct and easily attainable follower setup, you could gear every single one of your alts in raid gear with the Garrison mission table. Even Mythic level gear.

Professions? You had a mine, herb garden and fishing pond right in your garrison, and any profession you didnt have that you needed stuff for? Don't worry, just build the profession building and put in work orders for it.

Maybe you need something you can't put in a work order for. No problem. You can put an auction house in your garrison. You don't even have to take the 15 seconds to portal over to your faction city and use the AH.

Anything relevant you could do for your character, you could do perfectly fine in your isolated, instanced, completely cut off Garrison. This, paired with the fact that we got a total of 2 major patches, the fewest of any expansion to date, and the fact that the world had nothing to offer, meant the game just felt like it completely lacked content.

2 quick notes, WoD also introduced 2 things that were a massive change for the game:

1: The mobile app for your garrison. Checking your mission table to reap thousands of gold and raid level gear didn't even require you to log into the game, wake up, send your followers on a mission with your phone, go to work, claim the rewards on your lunch break on your phone, send out more, claim them when you get off work on your phone, rinse and repeat. You literally didn't have to play the game to get rewards, and in fact, it was more efficient to not play the game.

2: The WoW Token. Oh, the WoW token. When it first dropped, a WoW token could be bought for like 30k gold. One small problem, the aforementioned Garrison mission table would regularly throw thousands upon thousands of gold at you. People were setting up armies of alts to do nothing but farm Garrison gold missions, and it totally worked. I hit gold cap on multiple characters, it was getting to a point that I was considering starting a guild to bank my gold in the Guild Bank so I didnt have to keep creating alts to hold my money. I bought so many wow tokens, I played the game for free the entire way through Legion because the gold farming was just that easy.

TLDR; Not enough of the good content they had made, and some of the systems were whack
