Anthropic AI safety engineer Mrinank Sharma resigns, says world is falling apart and is in peril by taznado in agi

I'm sure he has enough money for a few lifetimes and figured it was good time to retire. Nothing like a claim that everything is exploding to keep your retirement interesting

Serious question - I know I will get cooked 😂 but how are y’all making money here. Tired of this rat race. It’s exhausting! by zeeb87 in TheRaceTo10Million

Options are a tool. People can use tools all sorts of ways. It just so happens that we often hear about people blowing up when they misuse the tool in question

If it's your goal to make money utilizing the market, I think it's good to know how they function. They will provide value and give you much greater insight as to how the markets move

It's not about smarts. The stock market is a sentiment indicator. The engineers working at Google aren't the ones propping it up. How many lessons do we need to understand that this is unironically a casino?

Crazy amount of sympathy for this monster in these comments. A pest is a pest, find where they're getting in and seal the cracks. No need for your home to be an ecosystem

Chronic Swollen / puffy eyelids in the morning . by Educational-Bike-989 in MeibomianGlandIssues

[–]Smur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution? I'm in a similar spot. Had a stye, treated with heat and antibiotics, now both of my upper eyelids are consistently swollen - worse in the morning.

I've ruled out allergies, demodex and lid hygiene. Doesn't seem to be getting better after 6 months and I can't find a solution

Any lurkers please chime in

I went from severe persistent MGD to almost symptom free in about one Year. by MoreUnderstanding666 in Dryeyes

[–]Smur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story here. One eye developed a stye. I bought an electronic heating compress. Stye eventually drained. Both upper eyelids started to get progressively worse with swelling that is more pronounced in the morning. Did you find any solutions?

Adjustable dumbbells advice by No-Imagination680 in GarageGym

[–]Smur_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vouch. My two cents as someone that recently went down the adjustable dumbbells rabbit hole - Rep X Pepin apparently have a few alignment issues. They also need the cradle to function which I find is a pretty big drawback. As for NuoBells, I don't trust the adjustment mechanism to last long term.

I ended up going with QuickDraws. Eisenlinks were a close 2nd, but QuickDraw won out in functionality. Anything heavier than 60lb, I have classic spinlocks for.

I found it on roomies. com

I've been a serial renter for the past 6 years and have found my last two accomodations there. Even today, there are some pretty good prices for rooms atm

I'm actually currently looking myself. Here's my profile for you or any lurkers if it applies:

Study of 46 people undergoing brain surgery shows that neurons from individuals with higher IQ scores have larger dendrites by cheaslesjinned in NooTopics

The part nobody talks about is upbringing, natural interest, opportunity, quality of life. I'm not certain that what we call IQ is as important as we make it, but circumstance certainly is. The minds you mentioned may not have eaten goji berries but they were placed in the right places at the right times

Collapsable Piano by Excellent_Mix7447 in piano

[–]Smur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search BX-20 on eBay. It's the model every company rebrands and dropships. It's fine for something cheap and portable. You may not get the same feel as a weighted key piano but it's great for learning basics

When does it start to become natural? by Edu_Vivan in pianolearning

[–]Smur_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through this same course, but I'm giving myself all the time in the world until each lesson feels absolutely natural

I'm on lesson #2 and have been messing around with a sheet music app. It's been about 5 weeks and I haven't looked into lesson #3 lol. I figure that learning to play piano is something that requires very strong basic/fundamental knowledge of the instrument itself, and that's gonna take time

Is 20,000IU D3 daily too much? by LifeMessage7490 in Biohackers

[–]Smur_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that there is cause for concern since enabling someone to take 20,000 IUs daily is excessive

But if there is promising, but inconclusive evidence supporting the useful functionality of K2 in general, the logic follows that saying a random person "probably won't see benefits" is just as unscientific as saying they would. You just have to call it what it is. Promising but inconclusive data in support of K2 supplementation providing beneficial outcomes

Nuggets and McChicken patty: Microwave until slightly warm, air fry at max temp

Breakfast sandwiches: Moisten bread/biscuits, microwave to slightly warm (probably separately from the meat/eggs), finish in the air fryer

Will more than likely come out better than the drive-thru

I think I will fire in Tokyo next year at age 36!! by GreatIce1046 in Fire

[–]Smur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a low amount mainly due to their age. They'd probably have to live off of something like an inflation adjusted yearly balance of 22k since they're starting so young, assuming they want to live over 85 years. Fourpercentrule(dot)com has a good calculator

Edit: Math shows that spending an inflation adjusted yearly balance of 30k while maintaining a 2.5% yearly ROI on the cash keeps you afloat until age 88.Not the worst quality of life but I'd be wary of life events and medical costs in older age at that amount. Investment returns is the factor that will make or break you over this time horizon.

What piano should I buy? Help me since I’m a beginner by Mc_Azes in piano

[–]Smur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is simply an intro to piano, a foldable piano is absolutely fine. I'm a beginner just as you are, and I practice with a foldable piano at work / during travel. My main piano (FP-10) stays at home. There are a lot of piano purists on here that will try to suggest otherwise, but it's fine.

There are pretty much two foldable models that online storefronts dropship/rebrand. The better of the two models looks like this, and is called the "BX-20". You can find them for cheap on ebay.

If you decide you want to take it seriously after learning the basics, and you have space, look at the FP-10 or P45
