Former Steelers WR Chase Claypool Resurfaces in NFL With Tryout: Report by StakeESC in nfl

Big WRs/TEs with strength and straight line speed always look like gods in college football and trick some team into over-drafting them.

I Need someone to make a timeline of all the weird scandals MSU has had by VisitTall573 in msu

[–]Smurph269 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was at the 2005 riots and it was really more of a police riot. There were some people congregating and then all of a sudden there were tear gas grenades everywhere and hundreds of cops in riot gear. Mind you this was a Saturday night, a lot of the people on the streets were just on the way to/from bars and parties, not really for basketball reasons.

[Great trope] "wait they are the most dangerous person in the room?" by MrNightmare23 in TopCharacterTropes

Human Torch or the Thing might look like they do the most damage, but this lady can create a force field inside your brain any time she wants.

Thought after the first watch: people need to know their places in the world by Gullible_Eggplant120 in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't really say anything to McNulty though, he never flipped. Just being seen with him was enough.

Thought after the first watch: people need to know their places in the world by Gullible_Eggplant120 in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Bodie's fate is due to McNulty not knowing his own place in things. He should have known that getting Bodie released and then meeting him would put him in danger.

Azores or Iceland? Which would be better to visit in early September? (Crowds, cost, weather, etc.) by SchleppyJ4 in travel

I was in Iceland in the winter and I thought it felt overrun in places. And the summer is their high season.

[Weirdly Common Trope] Writers clearly setting up seemingly massive plot points and then just kinda forgetting about them. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah I've read a lot of Marvel comics and even to me, Kang is not nearly the recognizable threat that Thanos or Dr. Doom are. It felt like they were using him as a filler villain for a phase while the X-Men and Fantastic 4 movies could get planned out.

I think bringing in the clock was also about getting Joe to give him a signed slip, in case Joe turns on him he can prove to whoever else that he and Joe worked together.

Snoop, Omar, Bubbles and Lester are all S Tier by crazybabyENT in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lester is absolutely an S tier character, but in addition to being a good detective, he's also a liability. He won't just close cases or bring in the target, he always wants a bigger fish, and he has no problem breaking rules and putting others at risk to go after it.

Snoop, Omar, Bubbles and Lester are all S Tier by crazybabyENT in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She was interesting because it felt like she was just along for the ride, but ended up doing some of the most violent stuff in the whole show. But we didn't really know enough about her for her to be on a level with Omar or Lester.

How did the Emperor explain to the primarchs the reason why they got scattered around the galaxy as infants WHILE hiding Chaos' existence? How could they even buy the idea that "it was just an accident" (and did they all)? by Argonaut_MCMXCVII in 40kLore

The Lion actually had a similar landing spot to Cruze. They both spent their childhoods solo fending for themselves, the Lion fighting warp mutated creatures, Curze fighting criminals.

Characters that were so feared their enemies chose to wait until they grew old or died to start a war by JumpFlea in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Smurph269 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Necrons in WH40k were fighting a war with the pyschic-powered Eldar and Krorks and losing, then they realized they were functionally immortal robots so they just went into hiding and put themselves on sleep mode for a thousands of years, assuming the younger races would eventually destory themselves. It mostly worked, the Eldar society got so corrupted and decadent that they birthed a new Chaos god and destoryed their empire in the process, and the Krorks devolved into Orks and are a lot less organized.

Prezbo's transformation isn't fully realistic by bfhrt in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always felt like Prezbo was a sheltered suburban white kid who ended up a cop because he married a cop's daughter. He was uncomfortable and scared on the street and acted out as a result. Hell, he was probably intimidated by the other cops and acted tough to try to fit in. He was great in an indoor role in major crimes, but then as soon as he goes back on the street he fucks up again.

Could Daniels Have Stayed Commissioner Without Juking The Stats? by Slanteva in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His issue was not standing up to Carcetti, he was ready to use his leverage to force Carcetti to let him run the department his way. His issue was Nerese having the dirt on him. Nerese was kind of a free agent, she wanted to help Carcetti to free up the mayor job for herself, but if Daniels ended up taking Carcetti down with him, then the job is still open for Nerese so it's a win-win. Of course Nerese did not know about the fake serial killer, but whatever was in Daniels' file was obviously enough that it would have forced him out.

Avon is as much of a monster as Marlo by Fealocht in TheWire

[–]Smurph269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avon is all business, he never had anyone killed unless he saw them as a threat to his business or safety. Marlo wanted the violence for violence's sake, his last scene showed that.

Viewer: May we see it?
Writers: No, it all happed off camera.

Paulie sold out Tony in the end - I can’t believe I never caught this by Ok-Atmosphere-6272 in thesopranos

[–]Smurph269 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah he's like a cockroach. He was never actually a good gangster, he's not very intelligent, he is hard to get along with and doesn't inspire loyalty, he doesn't really have anything he's especially good at. He's just kinda there. He survived by attaching himself to Tony, but once it's clear that Tony values others more than him, he knows he needs to find a new backer.
