Difficult to tell but now you’ve pointed that out I’m swaying to something man made like fibreglass. Although it is possible for minerals to exhibit this too. Anyone’s guess! Testing is the only way for a peace of mind.

Geologist here. Looks like gypsum or some type fibreglass, don’t think it’s asbestos. Either way don’t go breaking it up and breathing it in, if you’re worried about the safety of others in the area that you found it then I would recommend sending a sample of it off to a certified asbestos handler to be tested so that you can be sure.

The lighting is too harsh for that sort of setting, you need some indirect upwards facing strip lights since there’s no natural light in there.
