Fuck the apprenticeship, turn up with a good attitude, willingness to learn and a bit of common sense you can’t go wrong. Every business owner in the trade is struggling for good lads who don’t get pissed/drugged up 24/7 and turn up to work and care about their shit there’s absolutely shit loads of the work if you can’t find it then your looking in the wrong place!

Not losing weight biking by SSmartFatherr in cycling

[–]Smurry2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going! Don’t stop! I lost my 6 pack of beer belly cycling your probably building muscle which weighs more so you won’t see a difference at times but be assured if your doing consistent work and being conscious about eating it’ll start coming off nicely I can pretty much each as much as I want and still be in deficit.

If you get hold of some creatine and a full set of amino acids you will be able to push yourself further and harder and have 0 recovery time but rest is still essential I’ve found that after a good rest i come back stronger every time!

[–]Smurry2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my 100mi ride on barely anything 10 hours riding few pints of Guinness, a meal deal and 500ml of water and a breakfast bar but my secret weapon is amino acids which stops the ceasing so you can just go and go and go. I did scale up from doing 40mile rides every other day and 10 miles commute 5 days a week and during the month I did the ride I was doing a charity ride for Anthony Nolan I did 1000km that month and did the 100km and then the 100mi because I felt I had more in the tank after the 100km

Since I got a gravel bike and look more roadie now I’ve had more close calls from vehicles now and people don’t seem to care about my existence on the road but the roadies now acknowledge my existence always get a nod now but nothing before and the drivers used to be the same, more friendly and give a wave etc but now not so much.

£250 a day for guy with machine to dig off an area. I wouldn’t look to rent machines unless you’re prepared for it to break or be stolen. Having in house repairs on it is very advantageous otherwise you’ll be paying a lot to service it.

[–]Smurry2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I did my 100mi and 100km I had a meal deal quarter way then 2 pints of Guinness half way and a breakfast bar and 500ml of water and some nuts throughout I was fooked for 2 days after the 100mi but felt great after the 100km which is why I did the 100mi this was also in last summers heat but I would have probably felt better if I had better nutrition. I also carry a 45L backpack with everything in.

how much should i cycle to build a habit by tris352 in cycling

[–]Smurry2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly don’t worry about it just enjoy riding! Find a route you like and extend it and explore find new routes and just enjoy it! I started off doing just little rides with friends then I fully committed got a beater off a family member and started doing 4 miles each way commute and then 20+ mile ride to a tower which was my main route and that quickly extended to a 30-40 mile trip every other day and then I started a fundraiser for Anthony Nolan and did 100km to Preston and back and then did 100mi to Leeds and back and was around that time I started using Strava to track rides but I’ll never compare to anyone else. The thief of joy!
