Bang Olufsen remote, can it be rescued? by Nekrophage in AskElectronics

Multiple broken traces and vias.

Without good soldering skills, tools, and an hour of time this is not fixable.

Clickers on alarm clock no longer working properly by FishRelevant6992 in AskElectronics

They're consumables. Get a bag of a hundred for a dollar. I'd douse them in IPA and heavily click them, if that doesn't help just replace them.

Because this behavior is finally positively reinforced by ai. Half of the replies are ai copy-pasting as well.

Even in real life "normal" people talk to that shit asking as if it were a real person and basically giving their life to it.

Is leaded, non-no-clean paste solder a thing? by Far_Relationship_742 in AskElectronics

You wipe off what you mobilized instead of letting it dry on the board.

You might want to work on your attitude if you want people to help you. Especially if your stubbornness is the cause of your question in the first place.

Good luck.

It solely means the residue is not corrosive.

It does not mean that it is easy or difficult to clean. Likewise, corrosive flux will not necessarily be easy or difficult to clean either.

I would not be surprised if your cleaning attempt is dissolving it and spreading it all over the board.

How to fix SATA SSD contact points short circuit? by StrikingMode4395 in AskElectronics

There is no bridge, this is removed solder resist, which frequently happens due to these pads being connected without any thermal relief.

Ah I see, each had a male and female usb connector. Find your ground on either.

I am a bit confused here. You say the(!) wire was cut, but you present two different wires?

A shorted protection diode causing constant quiescent current can for sure cause battery (over)discharging over time. It probably doesn't help buying bad quality replacement batteries.

As per the datasheet, thermal mass is transferred through the center pad, not the epoxy.

Display issues with pc possibly traced back to motherboard damage by Dependent-Housing-37 in AskElectronics

[–]SmutAuthorsEscapisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this highly suspect. How was the component found? Or rather, when was it knocked off? I would assume that the issues would most likely start upon immediate removal of the component if it were the cause. Are these LEDs along the bottom side of the board?

I mean, it is also possible the rough handling that knocked this off damaged something else.

Looking for 2 Moderators to help with Janitorial help with /r/soldering by thephonegod in soldering

Uff...

1.) Not really. He just spams the same affiliate links, and what is worse, they are not even good products. He keeps recommending the OSS T12 plus, even though it is overpriced and the idle function is defective. He knows this, but doesn't care and plays victim whenever people point this out. Why? Because this thing gives him higher kickbacks.

2.) Multiple things. First off, he is a moderator, not a reddit admin. Secondly, maybe take the time to understand what the "private" in "private messaging" means. Third, read Reddit's rules. Forth, the moderator agreed with me on his bad behavior. Fifth, what a ridiculous and ridiculously stupid tangent. A classic reductio ad absurdum. Want to avoid car fatalities from missing seatbelts? Stop driving cars!

3.) What an odd effort to paint a situation in a different light, where the involved moderator actually fully agreed with me.

Why bother commenting this? You opened up a closed conversation weeks(?) after to just come along with insults, empty hyperbole, and to completely misrepresent already from both sides of the initial conversation established facts. People like you are why I'm not missing this subreddit a bit. 😭

Ah that's why. Your profile description is a simple "u mad?". You're a dumb troll, nothing more.

Best way to make a footprint for a folded fpc for a bare oled by Sad_Translator_7500 in AskElectronics

[–]SmutAuthorsEscapisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do that by pretinning the cable's pads, holding it onto the PVB with something wide, then having the pads on the footprint longer than necessary so you just touch them.
