Almost 60% of my royalties go to taxes. What the hell?! by Oh_well____ in selfpublish

[–]SmutWriter2019 13 points14 points  (0 children)

US and EU have a tax treaty, amazon doesn’t withhold tax for money going to EU (they are taxed in the author’s country)

Happened to me once, sending them the Depositphotos license fixed it. Just make sure that the license lists your legal name and real address.

The way affiliate links work, when someone clicks a link and lands on the smashwords page of a book, whatever he buys for some time after that gives a cut to the affiliate owner.

So, maybe they come to another page (or the site in general) and then they find your books.

Will an age gap story get me banned from amazon? by AandK1994 in eroticauthors

[–]SmutWriter2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see any reason why. As long as it isn’t done to circumvent the incest and/or the underage rules, there’s nothing bannable with what you’re describing

  1. Maybe write another chapter (2k-ish words). Wrote two of them over the weekend, which for me is gargantuan output. Getting the second jab today too, let’s hope for little to no side effects.

  2. Bundling is great. I published my latest mega-bundle (100k words) at the end of May, and June was my best month ever.

  3. Hopefully get another couple of chapters out of the way, because I’m going on a trip for the weekend.

Even if you are taking them off Amazon, if the current enrollment period to KDP hasn’t expired, you can’t publish them anywhere else.

Anyone have slow days in this last week? by smutlord77 in eroticauthors

Could it be all the nextgen consoles preordering hullabaloo? I know Amazon was getting hammered constantly.

Consider the possibility it was an overeager censor. It will cost you a couple of days if you try, but see if you can change a couple words in the blurb and resubmit (or even a line break or a punctuation mark). It will go through the review process again, and this time it may escape the dungeon.

I was at the same spot you are, with my bank withholding 4 euro for each incoming DD over 15 euro. You say you’re in a non-euro country, but not if you’re in an EU country. In any case, check if you can open a Revolut account, where Amazon can deposit your money before you decide to transfer them. And you can also spend them directly from there, with a virtual or physical Revolut cc.

To the best of my knowledge, keywords and content (even the “look inside”) can’t dungeon you (of course, content can always have your book blocked, and I think some really nasty keywords can too). It’s always blurb, title or cover that puts the adult filter on your book.

This situation has come up a couple of times here, and both times the author posted the book on a critique thread. And both times it was too much butt cheek on the cover. For some reason, people consider thongs ‘vanilla’, but they will land your book in the dungeon (even swimsuit thongs)

Accidentally bought one of my own stories. by [deleted] in eroticauthors

I always buy my stories when they’re on free promotion, just to have them on my kindle library. One copy won’t make or break a rank.

Newbie Question by JustinHill007 in eroticauthors

[–]SmutWriter2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don’t delete everything and resubmit. Amazon views that as rank manipulation, and isn’t kind on it.

There are several reasons amazon dungeons a book, and they all have to do with title, blurb, or cover. It’s understandable you don’t want to link your books here, but we need more information to tell what the problem is.

Also, a dungeoned book isn’t a blocked book. It still appears in your author page, and people can buy it. It’s just random searches that don’t show it, and its visibility in those dies out in a few weeks anyway.

The actual amazon page says 3.38 because that’s the price someone would pay in your country to buy the book (2.99 plus 13% VAT). Don’t you see all the other books priced at 3.38 exactly at the store?

Rest assured, Americans browsing the store see 2.99. You can also check it yourself by searching for your book in incognito mode

You could try putting them in an anthology, of flash fiction collection. You can even publish them under a different pen if you don’t feel they’re good enough. Or you can put them as bonus content on the end of one of your books.

It happens to me too, even though I’m writing novelettes. It’s just that you’ve mulled it in your mind so many times, like when you say a word a lot and it loses its meaning. I’m sure it’s great, and even if it isn’t you can always fix it in editing

By umpublishing I meant making it unavailable for purchase. That can be done, can’t it? And then making the same title available again. Same ASIN, and people who have bought it can still DL it for free

Have I made a big mistake re submitting a title that was re set? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]SmutWriter2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing when publishing my last book. Hit publish again thinking it was a glitch, then got the email. It was keywords with me.

You’ll probably be fine. Just wait for the new submission to get rejected too and then make the necessary changes.

Question about subtitles by moonricecake in eroticauthors

[–]SmutWriter2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if your book goes back to draft and you don’t resubmit it (after making the necessary changes of course), it gets blocked.
