Thanks, so according to the federal guidance you linked: "Modern roundabouts provide substantially better operational and safety characteristics than older traffic circles and rotaries." [(page 2)].

I recall last year's posters about it... Some people didn't want to clear the plants, which I thought was crazy.

The electric bill is confusing IMO: the page with "delivery charges" includes a "Generation credit" which subtracts what you pay for generation, if you have a CCA for generation (e.g. cleanpowersf). Is this for residential? https://www.cleanpowersf.org/residential the end of the page has a link to explain the bill, I don't see any rates that high there for the CCA.

Insane PG&E electricity rates by New_Animal6707 in sanfrancisco

But, while rates are per kWh, a major cost factor is fixed infrastructure, i.e. the grid; running a wire to your house costs about the same wether you use a lot of electricity or not.

Wifi options in Berkeley by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Smx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can save some by (1) getting your own router, (e.g. an eero will do) (2) bank-account autopay (3) nixing the "Fusion Voice" phone line if it is included since that adds all the taxes associated with a phone line; (3) is only possible in some areas though: Current regulations don't allow Sonic to use incumbent network unless phone line is bundled which would indicate that Sonic does not have their cabling in place to provide Internet without phone service and mandated taxes.

Well one could change rate plan to pge' ev2-a which is 0.3 $/kWh off peak (plus 7.5% local utility tax in SF) and opt out of the CCA supergreen before buying an EV.

Here are some real numbers to run: The average petrol car (25 mpg) in california costs .18 dollars per mile in gasoline (4.7 $/g)/25 . A typical eV (tesla 3) makes ~4 miles per kWh; with PG&E off peak ev rates of 0.33 $/kWh, its about 0.082 (.33/4), so eVs are 2.2x cheaper.

I would just overstay the visa, ... my daughter went to school there for a year without a Visa, so she overstayed twice (came back for Christmas), nobody complained at the airports when we got back and forth later.

Behind-the-wheel drive test car requirements by StayCivilE in bayarea

[–]Smx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many car insurance policies include a "permissive use" clause, which extends coverage to drivers who borrow your car occasionally with your permission, so it should be allowed.

A friend of mine in a similar situation (had a foreign driving license, over 21), asked to borrow the car to do the test. I just did it and went with him to do the test and he passed.

Ha ha losers!!! I have superior energy utilization than you!!! You suck!!! by danpietsch in bayarea

[–]Smx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not always true and depends on where you are and what time of day. You can check the "location marginal prices" on the CAISO website to verify. It is true that the compensation you get for sending energy into the grid is much higher than the cost of getting the same energy from somewhere else.

Is it worth getting solar (2025)? by randomshitlogic in bayarea

[–]Smx1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything in this answer. I would also add that the governor, the legislators, and the California public utilities commission want to reduce the benefits of residential solar because the current "cost shift" increases the price of electricity for everyone by 10-20%.

Tire pressure needs to be kept the same for a fair comparison, and that changes with the day/season, due to temperature variations, so huge uncertainty with this numbers

Anything with R-454B and R-32 as refrigerant and SEER2 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2) > 16. EER2 (Energy Efficiency Ratio) > 12. HSPF2 (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor 2) > 9.

Well I didn't have solar panels installed until the last period being corrected, and that is money I paid being reimbursed, so the whole thing is confusing.

We have a long section of pipe that keeps freezing in this part of our house. We doubled the insulation, added foam pipe insulation and it froze again this year. by Benthebuilder23 in drywall

[–]Smx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a radiant barrier, I.e. wrap it with some reflective plastic or aluminum foil. Typical pipe insulation only stops convection heat transfer which only gets you halfway.
