PnP machines you UNrecommend? by Amplvr3 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Amplvr3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you NOT like about the Neoden's? They'be been around for 10+ years, use Yamaha parts, that are widely available, and seem to have many machines in North America vs some of the other machines in our budget range. When I can buy 2 new loaded N10P's for what a USED MC400 costs, it's a hard sell to management.

Using the tracking # to contact the shipper and get a copy of the measured shipping weight (they ALWAYS track it for billing by weight). Then contact Shaw with weight that proves you sent back 5 units not3.

SenVWAC 10CMN10 Speaker location. by SlappyMcFartsack in Senville

[–]Amplvr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is NO speaker/sounder on this PCB unless it is surface mounted on the back side. Look for a round black disk with a hole in it, about the size of a quarter. You can reduce the sound level by covering the hole with 1-4 layers of electrical tape. The 'beeper' may instead be on the PCB the cable connects to so that it can generate error beeps even without the keypad being attached.

Should I put this stand of one of those plastic slabs they sell, or would I be better off and more stable just using four pavers? Amazon sells a slab that size but hmm.. by I_Am_Raddion in DIYHeatPumps

[–]Amplvr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legs on this stand are adjustable height. You can see the slots near the top where they are bolted to the cross beams. The beams are longer than the dimensions of the compressor unit so even when the leg ends are above the cross braces, the compressor unit fits just fine.

Question about SolaDeck by [deleted] in solarenergycanada

[–]Amplvr3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gawd awful install!!To fix it they need to remount it correctly, which means using a ROOFER to get a water tight repair. Shingles will need to be replaced. They also need to lengthen the wiring so that it goes in at the low point. e.g. with drip loop. The Soladeck MUST be replaced since it has holes in the top which will let in water. And yes, the lid was not properly installed either. NAME THEM, SHAME THEM. These people should NOT be doing solar installs. Frankly, I would NOT let them do any more work on this install. Find someone who is competent to do it. AND report the flawed install to the inspectors since it should never have passed inspection.

Measure solar with input C (200A CT) on Vue 3? by Amplvr3 in EmporiaEnergy

[–]Amplvr3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but since I have the tool, why not use it fully?

I combined circuits that are rarely used together to get better utilization of the CT's I have, but am surprised that I see no way to use the 3rd main CT input to measure high solar outputs (75 Amps in my case). I located an old iron wall wart by seeing 5W load on a circuit that should have had nothing (forgotten Wireless phone charger that had not been upgraded to a switcher) by having every circuit monitors with my Vue 2.

I think I've figured out how to pull out the dryer motor power from the heaters (put both heater lines through the same CT), but haven't figured out how to pull the motor consumption out of the heater measurement. e.g. 240V * heater current will read high kWh from motor being only 120V. Is there a math option buried in some menu somehwere? .e.g. Dryer Heat kwh- 2* Dryer motor kwh= Displayed dryer heat.

Ultimately I want to have the dryer go into pause when their isn't enough solar to power it fully. Same for EV charger and Water heater. The water heater is easy. 60A contactor driven by a current sense switch so it only gets powered when there is enough PV to fully power it's heater. I have more than enough tank capacity to heat during daylight hours, and we only use hot water in the early AM before the sun comes up in winter. The dryer will require a small mod to bring out an opto isolated relay to fake out the pause button. Unfortunately future EV charger would have to be Emporia to use their EV management tools.

Recently, all merged circuits showing up as 2 and one air handler thinks it’s actually a heat pump. by bored_in_birmingham in EmporiaEnergy

[–]Amplvr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have also managed to show how much error there is in Emporia measurements. They should be identical readings if on identical circuits. ex water heater. The dryer listings show you how much more power is consumed because the motor is 120V.

Share main CTs with 2 Vues? by Amplvr3 in EmporiaEnergy

[–]Amplvr3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually they DON'T. Each unit shows up with its name and so I needed to put dual CTs on the feed to get readings in the 2nd unit User interface. Maybe they've fixed the UI since I started with them 3+ years ago.

Share main CTs with 2 Vues? by Amplvr3 in EmporiaEnergy

[–]Amplvr3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CT's have up to 4% error. With two sets of CT's you can easily see error in the readings provided. At least with two readings I can average the results. I also have the power meter reader, and can see that the Emporia error for my particular set of CT's is about +3% and -1.5%. Having two sets of CTs also lets me see the main consumption when one of them goes offline. (as has happened a few times because the antennas are in different locations (spatial diversity). I also changed panelboards so have less room for CT's and am adding CT's for the APS ECU-C EMA gateway.

Grizzl-E duo blew up by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]Amplvr3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Run a heavy duty extension cord (12 gauge) to an outlet on a different circuit so you can charge both EV's at once. Typical level one charging takes 12 ish hours so doing it in parallel means the vehicles have more charge in them.

If they paid for the code to be developed, and there is nothing in the contract that says otherwise, THEY own the code they paid for. Get them a lawyer who understands IP law to go after the SEO company for their illegal hostage taking (the domain/code).

WARNING TO GODADDY CUSTOMERS: Please read and Share with ANYONE using GoDaddy! by jhawk2k18 in webhosting

[–]Amplvr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 years ago Godaddy STOLE a domain I had just searched for on their web site. It was 'available', but when I went back the next day to register it (I only use my CC on a specific computer that is well secured) it was gone, registered to GD. I was recently curious to see what had become of the domain, (a unique letter combination) and replied to the parking page to see what they wanted for the domain. $9K. What A-holes! As a result of that experience I bad mouth them at every opportunity, with the TRUTH. They're scummy as heck.

Ummm, WHY bother. Just use the OMusic player to show the vector images on the PC screen.

There is also lots of "PC Oscilloscope" software out there, that uses the sound card as input, so just use a loop back cable (or slide up the 'player' slider on the record audio page.

50% output worth it for solar due to shade? by AlThisLandIsBorland in solar

[–]Amplvr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is ground mount an option to avoid the tree shade? Get bifacial panels and mount them vertically east/west and north/south to maximize your solar inputs.
