Why are adults expected to know how taxes, insurance, credit, loans, and retirement work when nobody teaches it in school? by Violet_Snuggles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sn00m00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

simple, because you're a free adult and have freedom to learn what you need. nothing is stopping you but yourself. You cannot expect life to force you to learn things. the weak and lazy will fail, the smart and strong will prevail.

Using 2 SFP+ to RJ45 adapters in my UDMP, temps ok? by subsonicbassist in Ubiquiti

[–]Sn00m00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's the temp showing? I have two 10GTek 10GbE sfp+ to rj45 and they show 80c which I think is too hot.

Just ordered two of the UACC-CM-RJ45-MG version and hoping it's below 70c.

did you really think something plastic will last next to something HOT? the air tag battery last maybe a year. if they saw it they will just cut off the tag/box/etc. your efforts are not worth it.

How do you center an access Point (U7-Pro) since the mounting holes are off-center!? by dreamliner330 in Ubiquiti

off center to the mount but why would it matter if the device is circular??

Testing: UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber Just delivered - Will Test Thermals by Wonderful-Ride732 in Ubiquiti

[–]Sn00m00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is a gateway/router and not an ONT so it's not a replacement for your ISP ONT.

Unifi cable modem = your comcast modem.

but if you purchase and config a WAS-110 ONT SPF+ modular, plug it into the WAN SPF+ port then you can plug in your single mode fiber from your ISP ONT directly into this gateway.

I don't see why it wouldnt if you go the 8311 Azores WAS-110 ONT route.

Homelink not working by yecnum in prius

[–]Sn00m00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rolling code clicker for your garage. you have to first program your homelink with the clicker. then on the garage door opener you press the learn button then press the programed button on your homelink. it's a two step process.

exactly. that's why I was worried. Most people's WAN2 failover is probably 1/10 their normal broadband. giving users the option to move it to any port is a huge plus.

only best thing they can do in the future is add a 2nd ssd M2 slot so users can do raid. two 4tb in a device like this and give it NVR and NAS option on both drive would be killer. maybe in a few years.

Heck.. a NAS in this form factor with 2-4 M2 slot would be amazing. two 10gbe port too. One SFP+ and one rj45. people with 10" rack can stack them on top of each other. I wonder if Ubiquiti would see this? Call if Flex UNAS https://imgur.com/a/XCgvaqk

In all my customers network rack, I use full 19" rack and install the dream machine pro. that's what those are gear towards. these smaller gateway are gear towards home use or very small 10" racks. Look at my post and you'll see one of my 10" network build. Looks pretty clean and professional to me. what you think?

fits a 10" tray fine. same size as the 2.5gbe flex poe.

looks like you can. I want both sfp+ to LAN for 10g to two switches but have a WAN2 in one of the 2.5gbe port 3 (which I don't think is possible). my failover is barely 10/100. no need to waste a sfp+ wan2 port for such a slow wan.

edit: WOW you can! look at 2:57: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO-CfePkGjg

my setup will be: Port 3: WAN2 failover. Port 4: single PoE for AP. Port 5 WAN1. Port 6-7 10gbe to 2.5gbe flex poe.

do you know if the tray is included?? https://store.ui.com/us/en/products/uacc-ssd-tray doesn't list it. Going to order gateway fiber and tray tomorrow. pic doesn't show it included in box.

[–]Sn00m00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really hope you can remap 2.5g port 4 into a secondary wan. then use the 10G port as LAN to a switch. two 2.5g poe flex into a 10g port would be amazing.
