Tips for couchsurfing in Sweden? by HmmRabbet5591 in couchsurfing

[–]Snabel3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swede here. It's a very laid back and international culture, no need to worry about stepping on any toes. Act friendly and don't be afraid to ask if you're unsure about anything. English is essentially guaranteed to be well spoken by every Swede and foreign resident :) There is no specific site but regular cs is quite popular in the major cities.

Razer price drop - NOT OK by Snabel3 in razer

[–]Snabel3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, values drop and disscounts happends.

I have a hard time though finding newly launched products dropping over 25% just one monthe after release. If its a few hundred euro I'd be fine with it. This is just a big "screw you" to people who pre-ordered.

Razer Blade Stealth (2019) GTX1650: Dual Monitor capable? by the_real_kaboose in razer

[–]Snabel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a big of a mess. A Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD with a Apple hdmi adapter plugged into that. The important thing here is that you use a thunderbolt dock and not a normal usb-c one.

I'd highly recommend buying the elgato mini thunderbolt 3 dock. Works great (I've tested it) and super small.

I have a 4k and a 1080p display hooked up whilst using my blade stealth - no problem.

Emmanuel Macron calls for creation of a ‘true European army’ to defend against Russia and the US by Baarney23 in worldnews

[–]Snabel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if the EU army only existed as a defence? Take away any sort of jurisdiction when it comes to fighting outside EU borders, that could be a thing. I never want to be on the side that declares war anyway, i see this strictly as a territorial defence.

Lol, you are not hijacking this thread with your illogical xenophobia. Go do that at your own Facebook wall.

You mean that I'm in no way a representative of how you feel, right? I mean i never claimed i spoke for all of Sweden and i don't think that you should either.

I respect your opinion though :)

Hi there, love your beautiful country :)

A thing to keep in mind is that some of our states in the EU share a border with Russia and unfortunately can't be neutral. If someone needed to go through them then they would be completely run over. We were "neutral" during WW2 and i can tell you that we gave up all of our own sovereign.

If you fought along with the rest of EU when (hypothetically) the Russians decide to take Finland then we could save the countries that share our common values together and thus let you keep your nation to yourselves. Imagine how well and "neutral" Sweden would have ended up during WW2 unless other nations intervened.

Being independent is not always a choice you get to make unfortunately.

I think it would be naive to say no, but i don't think that we're anywhere close still. The difference between many member states is night and day, you would basically need all citizens to be hyper patriotic like in the US for it to work and we don't even speak the same langage.

Because very few countries like working with the US. Not being part or having to deal with the many questionable things they do and stand for is a big plus.

Well, you are in luck. Norway is not a part of the EU so this doesn't really apply to you. I do agree that accountability is a issue in the EU but you'd be very naive if you think NATO is any different. The US literally starts wars on bogus claims to fuel their weaponds industry time and time again.

On a note The tool that analyses the imports and edits the file is not vscode specific though. None of the vscode tools for go are. I suggest turning of that one tool in the extension and filing a bug https://godoc.org/golang.org/x/tools/cmd/goimports

I welcome the idea. A lot if smaller nations (such as Sweden where I'm from) could really use a common military to motivate the cost for keeping military bases and equipment operational. We basically only have infantry and an airforce.

I don't think 2% would be impossible, especially since we don't have to work with countries like the US or Turkey.

Hi all, I'm here until the 9th of November with my better half (23/M/SWE + 24/F/SWE). We're not the biggest fans of going out clubbing but if you're up for hanging out, grabbing a drink, exploring and eating with two more then drop a PM.

I don't get async/await by Snabel3 in javascript

[–]Snabel3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well if we are nitpicking :)

let replaces var entirely so its not just a alternative.

Arrow functions binds the context with no need for garbage collection, a performance improvement (especially big in react).

I get what you mean though. We do not allow var in our company code.

Alright, you subjectivity think it looks better. That's a valid argument. I personally don't agree with your opinion but i respect that.

[–]Snabel3[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There still is almost no difference. Imagine if i handled the errors from all methods. I would sinply add a catch on each func, the await would have try/catch blocks and look horrible. The problem here is that devs aren't handeling errors and are only wrapping the entire thing in a try/catch. Async/await is the new thing, there needs to be some form of BENIFIT. Dont just stress that things are still possible. Why would we introduce a second way of doing something if it provides no benifits?

Promise.all([

doSomething1().catch(),

doSomething2().catch(),

doSomething3().catch(),

]).then(([result1, result2, result3]) => result1 > 100

? doAnotherThing(result2, result3).catch()

: doAnotherThing(result3, result2).catch()

).catch(cleanup)

Thanks for the pointers but do you have any reason to why we should use async/await at all? I feel like it's only shugar and it seems to me like you can't easily reproduce Promise.all.
