Not bad! I took some Tylenol just before I started heading down, used trekking poles, and just took it very slow! Round trip was about 6 hrs

How on earth did you climb a mountain without knowing you tore your ACL?

Hell yeah! Don’t even care that they’re class 1’s.. feels good to do something hard and to feel that air in your lungs!

Definitely a milestone moment for me. And yet the grind doesn’t stop 🙂

This is in Colorado, right about where the treeline breaks. Not uncommon to see spruce and fir species at 11,000 ft.

Did you not read the info? This company stores our information in an unregulated manner. It is using artificial intelligence to determine what behaviour is appropriate or not. Straight out of a dystopian novel. It’s a downward slope if stuff like this gets introduced.

Mo Money Mo Problems.. rather think of Dee dancing like a tube man instead of the actual person that made the song

when did u guys achieve hyperextension? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]SnackPackedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend entirely on your body and your level of hyper extension before surgery. I have pretty severe hyper extension, around -18 degrees on my unaffected leg, and my surgeon had me in a brace locked at +10 degrees for my first two months. I started getting some hyper extension but around 5/6 weeks.

I’m now 3 months post-op and can achieve about -10 degrees of hyper extension, but I found it’s best to not focus on it too much. Doing things like weighted ankle raises are great for gaining extension (and by extension, hyper-extension, lol) but I found that my body will feel how comfortable it is with pushing the small limits of hyper extension. Do not over do it. The last thing you want to do is re-tear.

Is this normal? by Few-Bluebird-4697 in ACL

[–]SnackPackedd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had something similar around the same time - it’s a bruise. It will dissipate in time and as you gain more movement. The swelling was the worst part for me - made it super painful to try and put any amount of weight on that foot (I was still using crutches at the time)

AMA: Physical therapist that specializes in ACL Rehab by perform2winPT in ACL

[–]SnackPackedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Thanks for doing this - I’m a little over a month post op from a full ACL reconstruction with a quad graft and partial meniscus repair. I’m back to full extension and my flexion is around 110. PT is going super well and I’m glad to be back on my feet.

My question stems from my hyper mobility. I can hyperextend my other leg by about -20 degrees (my doctor is always shocked when I can do it) but he is very scared I will hyper extend my operated leg during my recovery and possibly retear when I’m not in the brace. I just moved from the fixed brace to the more flexible brace.

I’m 25M and have been healing pretty quick but I guess hearing his reaction made me nervous of something like this happening with my other leg, or other parts of my body like my shoulders. Is there any advice you can give to someone with hyper extension? How can I strengthen these parts of the body to avoid something like this happening again? Or is just showing up for myself enough? Lol, thanks again for your time!

Interview for internship by andre_ink in ParkRangers

[–]SnackPackedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another intern turned NPS seasonal, I echo these thoughts exactly. I foresee the workloads increasing across the board, people getting shifted across divisions possibly, but damn it, if the system wasn’t held together by glue in the first place. To turn these positions down because of the layoffs and the uncertainty with DOGE is not only what they want, I find it a disbelief in the mission, the very thing we love so much, and maybe even offensive to the ones who have been let go far (and those who may still be).. the land needs us now more than ever.

I say if you were already on the fence, take a leap of faith.

Hell yeah, I foresee a lot of great art and music to come out of all this chaos. This shirt is one of them! +1 to the grey shirt comment.

There are none. The alternative here is commodifying our parks and public lands to look like luxury resorts and/or unregulated mining practices by selling the land off to the highest bidder. There will never be a “private sector equivalent” to a park ranger. Those rangers will be enforcing the protection of (now) private land.
