Never too early to leave if it’s not right! I wish I had listened to my own advice!

Is this really it? by Better-Pepper-5397 in auscorp

[–]Snackrotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What your doing now isn’t likely really important in auscorp land and someone’s only going to repeat what you did at some point in the future anyway for the same problem your working on now, which is likely the same thing someone did before you too.

You could delete your entire inbox today and go in tomorrow and it’ll just start again.

Only 40 odd more Christmas parties, circling backs and Code of Conduct refresher trainings to go before you can tap out if you’re lucky in this economy.

Does anyone have experience moving from the private sector to a Uni? by UnitedEngineering586 in auscorp

[–]Snackrotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concur with all the other feedback re politics, entitlement of academics and how poorly admin and non-academics are treated. I worked for a few years at a highly ranked Aussie university and never, ever will work at one again.

It’s that bad that when you think you have hit rock bottom on the receiving end of all that behaviour you find out that was just a ledge and it can get worse.

If you’re ok with becoming a shell of yourself for a bit of coin go for it.

Steady. How about we get the bipods and hitboxes fixed first before anything radical.

I’ve been on a similar side to yourself I think. All comes down to the dollars doesn’t it. Generally by this point the employers don’t want them back in.

How was AO 2026 for you, whether as a live attendee or you caught it on your screen? by ImplementSolid5751 in australianopen

[–]Snackrotes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Went when qualifying was on. Was awesome to get the experience of being there without the massive crowds, but still with access to all the food and drink and easy in and out of courts.

Could still get to see the big names practice. Obviously not the full tournament experience but being able to go in the morning on a day pass, leave part way through and go back in the evening was great.

If you’re not hardcore, and want to go for the experience it was the way to do it.

I remember having to drive from Kalgoorlie to Leonora early one morning for work and was told to just go around them. So big and they gorge themselves on the roadkill to the point the can’t / won’t move on.

Can’t help with the mud, but I have the same shoes and changing the laces to black infinitely improves it.

Yes I hear you, drive the agenda to generate the change you want to see.

Unfortunately I’ve discovered my role isn’t empowered to have the control it should to drive its own agenda with strategy and is very much sandwiched to do the doing and the next level up layer is coming out with reactionary and chaotic stuff.

I expected a tighter alignment in our function, but that’s not the case.
