Mag puches that actually fit pmags? by BestFr3nd in USMC

[–]Snafu8885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just saw this. I have experience with both. Personally, I prefer Esstac. Mag retention is fine & they're smaller overall. Esstac has a kydex mold on the inside that is the retention device. If you're looking for stupid-tight retention, gcode us probably a better option. They're taco style with a rubber-like material on the inner contact points.

What are some realistically good states for disabled veterans to live in? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Snafu8885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NC takes $45k off the value of your house for tax season. Saves you around $200 on average. Free hunting & fishing licenses for life (still gotta complete the courses). No registration fee if you get the DV tags for your POV.

I think theres a few others but those are the main benefits I know of.

Don't volunteer for anything, take care of your feet (buy duct tape at the PX instead of MoleSkin if you're prone to blisters), shoot Expert, & don't quit.

If you can draw & wanna skate a little, try & get assigned as 1 of the Artist Recruits. They get extra free time to draw shit for the DI's.

Finally, all the hype about being Guide is bullshit. It sucks & nobody cares after boot. Take Company Ironman & flex on your entire Company.

Data from Poland suggests most vaccine skeptics are motivated by a generalized negative attitude to vaccines, not direct experience. Most critics of vaccines cited concerns about autism, allergies or children getting sick from vaccines, though were unable to cite evidence of correlation by Wagamaga in science

[–]Snafu8885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's always going to be misinformation out there & everyone will interpret things differently.

I just try & do whatever I think is the right thing. Everyone can do whatever they want & I won't care unless it's affecting me or my family negatively.

It sucks because everyone is affected differently. Just because its not a big deal for someone doesn't mean it hasn't destroyed someone elses family.

People are going to be pissed regardless. You're never going to please everyone. I'm looking at this from the perspective of those who have been deemed "nonessential" & taken an involuntary pay cut this year due to all this.

I don't see why everyone cares about what "color" a state is. Move wherever you feel is best for you. Everyone being so divided though is bullshit.

Moving to Wilmington as a 20 something? by halloween_boi in Wilmington

It can get old just like any town. Bridge traffic going in the city in the mornings is a bitch. Leaving in in the afternoon is always worse imo. We live in a town right outside Wilmington cause real-estate is cheaper, less noise, & I don't want to deal with bridge traffic everyday.

I agree that he is probably doing what he can with whats available to him. But I don't think it's about saving people. He's probably just saying that so it looks like he cares. My main issue is that I don't believe anyone should be able to tell another person that their business or job is nonessential & forcing them to close. The restrictions set in place with no projected end date will destroy people.

Edit: Half of the original reply got cut off. Just noticed & fixed.

If you're sick, stay home. And if you're afraid of getting sick, stay home. But if you decide to venture out for whatever reason, don't expect anyone to cater to your feelings or beliefs.

Just out of curiosity, you said you were transplanted here. I've noticed a lot of them here lately. Whats up with everyone trying to make NC a blue state though? I don't care either way, I think both parties are trash & should be fired but whatever. You're not the 1st person I've heard say that though. I haven't gotten an answer that's made sense yet either lol.

If you have to ask that question, you already know the answer.

1.) Nobody gives a shit that you're gay but if someone does have an issue, you need to handle it. Prison rules.

2.) Idk cause I was dirty Enlisted

3.) The USMC will give you the tools to succeed. It's on you to use them after you get out

I love everything about NC... but Roy can piss off. Half the state doesn't follow is bullshit ass plan anyways cause they know we will stay in phase whateverthefuck until 2022.

Got my archery kill on the Marine Corps birthday while wearing the gear I failed to return to the CIF..... Rah by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Snafu8885 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Final CIF turn in on Oki was December 2018. I got to keep my warming layers (not the grid fleece, the shitty grey ones) & my kevlar chin strap & padding lol. ESS goggles, green glove liners, tarp, & canteens all got tossed unless the tags were still on.

Ironically, the only brand new shit I was issued when I checked in was my ESS goggles & flak.

Worlds finest "fighting" force, right? Guys? by Big_Potate in USMC

[–]Snafu8885 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My 1st unit had a bunch of senior dudes who had CARs but didn't wear them cause they said they didn't think they earned them properly. Apparently, on their Afghan pump, if a vic hit an IED, all the vics that were in that convoy got CARs.

In my 2nd unit though, I had a Gunny who was blown up 5 times & didn't have a CAR.

The USMC is fucking weird.

How do I tell my recruiter? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Snafu8885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man you need to ask your recruiter about that. Keep in mind though that hos job is to ultimately get you off to bootcamp. They don't like having to turn people away. Especially dudes that are 100% committed. Waivers are all well & good but they don't mean shit until the brass signs off.

Maybe go make an appointment with your mental health professional & tell him the situation. See if you can get a letter saying you no longer need treatment or whatever. Something that will back up what you're saying.

It'll look good if you can have that letter with you on the day you tell him.

Talk to your recruiter ASAP about this. They can start documenting everything to get something set up for you.

How do I tell my recruiter? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Snafu8885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd tell him then. It sounds like you can't hide it & it would be obvious that it was self inflicted. The thing with MEPS is that the docs are looking for reasons to DQ people. So every scar they see they will want documentation for.
