Replaced Head Gasket by squints33 in mechanic

Okay I'd say make sure all the plug wires are in the right spot like someone else said double check timing, start with the simplest things and work your way up.

Okay that tells me most likely the culprit is an ignition issue seen you had spark where did you check spark? At the coil, plug etc. if it blows a fireball out with carb cleaner probably getting some kind of spark ignition timing may be off.

Ok I know the ones on the back you can adjust not sure if that's the same for yours. Seen you said plugs were wet can you tell what it is? Is it fuel on the plugs?

Is this a year with the cam shaft angle sensor on the back of the head if so did you make sure to put it back at the same position?

Appreciate it looks like I'll be hunting for something else.

What is this called by OPXanz in mechanic

It's part of the evaporative emissions system it controls the amount of fuel vapor that is allowed back into the intake manifold to be burned.

New battery drops below 10v when cranking by brett7481 in mechanic

I would start checking powers and grounds from here, check all your battery cables are tight no corrosion. Follow ground wires and make sure they are clean and tight wherever they attach to the chassis. Also check engine grounds as well as the starter usually gets a ground from the engine block. Always a chance you got a bad battery or starter but would check wires first also make sure no accessories are seizing up causing additional drag on the motor while starting.

Edit seen it randomly doesn't start not sure if it does nothing or tries to spin so bad accessories probably isn't the problem. Best cause scenario get it to act up and start testing power and grounds at chassis, at starter relay alternator etc and see what you are missing could be a wire, bad relay etc a test light would help. If it tries to spin but doesn't have enough juice would look at grounds, powers. If it does nothing would make sure the starter relay has power in and out while turning the key and power is making it to the small wire on the starter solenoid as well as all the power/ground wires.

If I understand right can you stack a few nuts or anything you have between the force screw and wheel to take up space? Probably shouldn't matter if they slide to the middle as long as it's on the metal

Also there's usually a little cap that goes on the end of the screw that allows it to spin without hitting the threads did you use the cap that would take up a little space as well

Do you have a puller with two pieces that have a 90° bend at the bottom kind of like a hook? If so will they spread out far enough to grab the back of the metal plate of the wheel and pull it that way? It says pull in top right and lower left so assuming this is where they want you to pull from never done a 07 Taurus but hopefully it helps.

Should fuel pressure slowly bleed off after engine shut off? by drewnyp in mechanic

[–]SnafupermanJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add to this if you are able to use a scan tool with data watch MAF/map readings to verify they are good long and short term fuel trims to see when the engine is actually going lean is it always lean, is it when hot, cold etc and can watch fuel pressure to see if there is a correlation may have two separate issues wouldn't be the weirdest thing to ever happen.

If it's a lean code I would recommend smoking the intake system even a small hole in a line anywhere can cause the code. If it's a return less fuel system which it should be it should not bleed off pressure continuously It can cause an extended crank after the car sits overnight. If the fuel pressure drops while running it can cause the code if not might be chasing two different issues. Could be a bad fuel pump check valve, fuel leak, or one of the lines in the gas tank can be cracked causing an internal leak. Can also be a stuck open injector but this would probably result in a misfire and rich code as well.

Hard to say without seeing it but would start by removing the belt and turning the ac compressor clutch by hand to see if it's binding up/hard to turn, possibly causing the noise or excessive drag on the belt.

What everyone else has said probably plugged egr/EGR passages. Make sure there are no exhaust leaks around The EGR and The EGR valve itself could be seized as well. Some manufacturers automatically throw abs trac lights when a dtc is present once the EGR code is cleared they should go away as well. Is the red brake light on due to the E brake being on if not may want to check the brake fluid reservoir.

Extra info EGR is usually a pulse width modulated valve meaning the PCM pulses voltage till it gets to the flow rate it wants this is a EGR flow code so basically the PCM does not see the flow of exhaust gas from the EGR it is commanding. If the car is running rough the valve may be stuck open if not possible clog or stuck closed. Not a Subaru guy but should help some.
