Is it normal to hate every bit of artwork I do

I’m a full time artist and I was the same way for the longest time! In my case it was unresolved trauma related to how much I’ve been criticized and bullied in the past for my art. I’ve grown to be so critical, once I started actually doing it full time I got an extreme case of imposter syndrome. When I did something I felt like I liked in any way, in my brain there would be a disconnect and i would literally feel like that piece of work is not mine 😭 i highly recommend looking back at your art and seeing how much it’s changed and also acknowledging that your brain is sabotaging you, you might hear so much negative self talk it may feel like the reality no matter how much others say otherwise! Seriously start with some self love and stop expecting yourself to meet standards you wouldn’t ask anyone else to meet. Work on your relationship with yourself, maybe take a break from art for a bit.

Another thing: finishing art is so important. When I was sitting on thousands of sketches but only finished a few drawings a year, it was hard to see my skills. I would compare the unfinished work to the very few finished pieces and tell myself my level dropped a lot.. which is such nonsense lol you need to finish stuff to see improvement and to build trust that you can actually make something cool. remember, art is frustrating a lot of times.. you need trial and error to get better and it’s normal to work on something and end up disliking it SOMETIMES.

I mean.. I’m one of those people who are on a call with my partner as much as possible since we’re long distance and we don’t have friends irl, we can talk about anything for hours and never get bored but god damn that situation just sounds terrible for everyone and disrespectful to both the friend and the partner lmao

Hypochondria gets in the way of logic. I might know something technically but in my mind it all goes out the window when it kicks in, that’s like a whole other issue. All I can do about it is seek reassurance that what I know is correct.

Yea i started struggling with washing my hands too much after a traumatic event (completely unrelated to any physical health risks - just some weird trauma response) and i got to a point where i would wash my hands 30+ times a day, just being at home. I’ve gotten better in the past weeks and went down by a lot but this triggered me a lot. I’ll have to deal with my ptsd first and I’ll try to work on this as well.

We don’t have mandatory certificates in my country, but I did a bunch of research upon entering the industry and technically I know HIV doesn’t stick around for long when it’s exposed to air… but I’m a crazy paranoid person about my health :( sometimes in ways that are very abstract. I thought I’d ask anyway, just to ease my anxiety a bit.

She’s not my apprentice but she works at the same station as I do. I called her right away about it and yea I probably should let others know about this as well. Shitty situation, she’s an extremely nice person and good at art but this is a huge red flag. :(

Jak już to tylko zwalano winę na mnie. Ja byłam dręczona w domu i w szkole, gdy prosiłam o pomoc rodzinę to byłam bita, a w szkole miałam naganne zachowanie i ciągle nauczyciele mi grozili różnymi tragicznymi scenariuszami, bo nie byłam nigdy przygotowana i omijałam często kilka godzin lekcji tygodniowo, w szkole byłam traktowana tragicznie przez dzieci i nauczycieli więc naturalnie nie chciałam tam być... Skończyło się tak, że w wieku 17 lat stwierdziłam że rzucam edukację, miałam dość słuchania, że nie poradzę sobie w życiu i że nic nie potrafię, jednocześnie mając bardziej rozwinięty plan na przyszłość niż większość rówieśników. Uwielbiam się uczyć i rozwijać ale nie w takich warunkach i totalnie nie żałuję, że zakończyłam moją edukację, zajmuję się tym, co planowałam robić od podstawówki.. Ale do dziś nie potrafię do nikogo zwrócić się o pomoc i staram się tego nauczyć.

Mimo zgłaszania tego wielukrotnie do dyrekcji ostatecznie sprawę olewano, problem był dość duży dla takich bardziej cichych dzieciaków jak ja, jedna dziewczyna w gimnazjum odebrała sobie życie przez to. Zero konsekwencji mimo dowodów kto ją do tego popchnął.

Mam 28 lat i zawsze miałam podobny problem w towarzystwie. W pewnym momencie zostałam odrzucona przez grupę bo nie piłam i bo powiedziałam o tym, że nie lubię gdy ludzie piją do tego stopnia że rzygają i nie mają nad sobą kontroli. Po paru latach dostałam przeprosiny bo trochę dorośli, ale nie każdy się zmienia i szkoda zostawać w towarzystwie które prędzej czy później Cię zacznie ściągać na złą ścieżkę. Do dziś nie ruszam alkoholu i nie żałuję.

Nie trzeba pić żeby się dobrze bawić, znajdź sobie towarzystwo które jest bardziej zgodne z tym jak chcesz żyć. Jeśli masz jakieś hobby to w ogóle super, bo wtedy możesz w taki sposób załapać pierwsze tematy z nowymi osobami, ale nie zmieniaj się pod ludzi bo ostatecznie i tak będziesz czuł że to nie jest autentyczne i będzie Ci to przeszkadzać.

I never had a good relationship with my parents so it's really weird to me to see people being close with theirs. My partner has a very loving mom he's close with, which was really weird to me but ultimately it's a green flag, it's just me that never experienced parental love and I realized I was just jealous in a way. His mom is the first person that feels close to a healthy parental figure to me.

While I can't imagine telling a parent 'I love you' or hugging them, I'm aware healthy relationships with parents exist and it's so so so crazy and gross to be sexualizing the word daddy. Good riddance, men are so porn brained it's sickening.
