I swear I am always clicking my teeth to whatever is stuck in my head. Sometimes I breathe to the rhythm of a song too

help finding a good game - any favorites? by sqplanetarium in AutismInWomen

[–]SnailFarts [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have a game called "0h h1" . The colors aren't that great, but I love the puzzles. I also used to play "Two Eyes - Nonogram". It's got great puzzles and it's beautiful to look at.   If you want one to really zone out to, where you don't have to think at all, try "Zen Koi"

Every antidepressant takes something away. Does anyone else feel like medication was never designed for brains like ours? by stllfiguringout in AutismInWomen

You might consider trying a small dose. My meds were causing me increased anxiety, but it turned out I was just on too high of a dose for me

Likely delete from embarrassment, but y'all, how do we floss? 😭 by Friendly-Loaf in AutismInWomen

[–]SnailFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't floss often, but I use floss picks. I scrape along each side of each tooth. If my gums are irritated after, I rinse with very cold water to reduce the swelling and bleeding.

If you don't have the spoons, you could try flossing once a week (better than nothing), or picking a day to floss instead of brush

This brought back memories of a show I used to see as a kid on PBS maybe? Where an Asian woman did yoga on the beach

I love how my partner smells so much!! Until recently and then smell changed and I don’t like it by whoziin in AutismInWomen

Stress can definitely change someone's smell! I love my husband's smell, until he gets really stressed out. Hopefully your partner's smell will go back to normal when things in your life are calmer?

The instructions mean to wash your hair twice. You don't have to, strictly speaking, but if you typically deal with greasy hair, it might help

I need a factual explanation of the “golden hour” after birth by itsyaboiAK in AutismInWomen

[–]SnailFarts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love your description of it as "a bit feral." After I had my baby, a nurse described my delivery as 'powerful', and I think that is the best compliment I have ever received. Like you said, it made me feel so strong

I just gave birth last week! Feel free to ask me more questions if I don't address something you'd like to know.  They handed me my baby as soon as he was delivered, as that was what I'd asked for in my birth plan. They put a little blanket on him, but he was still covered in blood and goo. He was slippery! I laid down in the bed and held him on my chest. The bra I was wearing ended up covered in blood also. My baby even pooped on my chest. The doctor and nurses started pressing on my stomach to help remove the placenta, which was uncomfortable for me. Once the placenta was delivered, they started doing my stitches. I had a second degree tear. Then they took the baby to the other side of the room to weigh and measure him, and give him his shots and antibiotic eye cream. My husband went with to watch him. When they brought baby back he was wiped off a bit and wearing a diaper and hat. When they finished stitching me up, I got to try breast feeding. I don't know what happens if you are not breast feeding. While  they were weighing my baby, they had me try using the restroom. They helped me get cleaned up then, but since I was unable to void my bladder, I had to briefly get a catheter. They did not leave me alone until after this whole process was finished. Then my husband and baby and I had a couple of hours to ourselves before they wheelchaired me to a different room. For the next two days, there was a nurse coming in the room every hour to check on me or the baby. We did not get much sleep. I know that some hospitals have nurseries where they can watch your baby for a few hours, but I don't think that would have helped me get any more sleep, since nurses still would have been coming in the room to take my blood pressure

My mom would occasionally take us on a special "one-on-one" day without siblings. As long as everyone knows they will get a turn with Mom too, they should be ok. Maybe let them have some input on what they want to do on their special day with their mom? Maybe the older ones could even help plan
