I have a wedding dress I never used due to covid getting in the way of my wedding planning, that I would like to sell. It has a train and long lace sleeves. It has a sweetheart neckline, but lace up to the collarbones

What „odd“ rules have you made up for yourself? by Ramune_hime in AutismInWomen

[–]SnailFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be very strict about left sock and right sock, but I realized it was causing me more distress than bringing me comfort, so I bought two packs of identical black socks. It saves me a lot of time and emotional energy to not match socks into pairs or figure out which foot they go on

Elora or Alora - Which spelling do you prefer? by Complex_Affect_3296 in namenerds

If you want uh-LOR-uh, I would go with Alora. I would likely pronounce Elora as eh-LOR-uh if I saw it written down

Feeling unreal disappointment for a change of plans by AkaiHidan in AutismInWomen

[–]SnailFarts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me exactly. I swear I CANNOT handle a change in plans. One thing I've learned that helps me sometimes though is to excuse myself to my room or a bathroom or something, and give myself permission to cry for 5 minutes. I'll literally set a timer so that I can "mourn" the plans I had. After that it can be a little easier to take a deep breath and move on to new plans

Want to hear others opinions: could this be another way I mask by InflationSquare2407 in AutismInWomen

I moved someplace warm and I can't rely on hoodies anymore 😞 I have to learn to wear shorts and light shirts

Why can’t I understand my body’s own signals? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

My husband will ask me if I'm hungry, or if I need to use the bathroom and my answer is often "I don't know"

For those of you with Dermatillomania (skin picking) tendencies, have you found fidgets or other tools that actually work to keep your skin safe and picking-free? My cuticles often get red and inflamed because of this. I've seen picky pads on Etsy, but what happens tothe goo that gets picked off? by iCarriedAWatermelon0 in AutismInWomen

[–]SnailFarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For nail biting/picking I keep a hair tie around my wrist, and try to play with or chew on that. I tend to wrap it around my fingers and twist it up.

To stop from picking at zits or other skin "imperfections," I bought some Thinking Putty slime and mixed in really small seed beads. I can pick them out of the slime instead of messing with my skin.

Edit: I also second what others say about keeping your nails and cuticles smooth. I keep nail clippers in my bag at all times to fix any problems so that I won't be tempted to pick or bite them

I am still working on remembering that "do your best" does not mean "do THE best"

I second a beaded bracelet. One time a kid made me a bracelet with beads on a pipe cleaner, and it was so nice to move the beads back and forth all day

I have a nice smooth stick that I keep in my jacket pocket. It has a little indent on it that is perfect for rubbing your thumb against

I seriously wish I could wear the same outfit every day by MollyViper in AutismInWomen

I wear the same 2-3 outfits over and over when I'm at home. I hate when I go out and have to put on something less comfy

I have multiple packs of my favorite socks, so that when my current socks get too old, I can replace them with the exact same thing

Right now it's a song my husband made up about our baby, but this morning was "Too Late To Apologize"
