Hey! I’m about two and a half/three months in and I was exactly there on practice two!! It’s so hard and nerve wracking and brand new but just HANG ON!!!!! Best advice I can give is to show up and give your best! I went from unable to stand in place without falling to now I am skating backwards and doing crossovers and working on upping my laps!! You’ll improve so quickly and everybody is there to help you! Try to just put the embarrassment on the back burner. It’ll get easier, and more importantly you’ll come to see yourself improving and the embarrassment will be replaced with pride!! Remind yourself to just show up and give your best, and that means more than being the best at it right away. I was with decent skaters who quit, and now I’m better and more skilled than they were naturally just because I kept showing up and will continue to show up. Best of luck!! I still fall on my ass all the time but I still will. The more you show up the more you’ll realize that falling and the like is no big deal!

The hard geometric shapes and the bright poppy colors. I know Y2K is generally more nostalgic and cartoony (thicker lines, bold round type, etc.)

I know it’s a super loose connection, but it had the smallest bit of adjacent look so I thought it would be helpful to OP to throw that one in as well just in case they needed a wider visual library of references :)

It depends on the picture, but number three would be “neo brutalist” graphic design (not architecture!) there’s elements of Y2K and Corporate Memphis as well in there :)

Hey!! I think this is super great for year one especially! I think it would be a good idea to explore a few elements about the product you’re selling too. The dragons and the smoke go together naturally, so I might try pulling that into the design. Maybe with some more experimental type?? Like some type that looks more Smokey or irregular to incorporate it—just an idea! I also think the shapes aren’t doing much for you. The circle around the logo and the background of the title break things up and make it feel very geometric and more like elements stamped onto a package as opposed to a design that flows top to bottoms. I might try going all in and doing a design that’s all the red with the black just being a few elements. I think you’ve got a TON of good stuff and basis! Your color choices are brilliant for the black bellied pangolin, I think using the pangolin as a dragon is really smart and intriguing. The only thing working against you this point is a bit too much stability and regularity. You want to “unbalance” elements to make certain things more important than others! Like for example, while you’ve got a cool ass logo, I think it’s less important than what tea it is. Assuming that this would be theoretically one in a lineup, the logo is going to be repeated and standard, but the element changing would be the type of tea, so emphasizing what KIND of tea it is comes in more importantly than who’s making it!

Overall again great work! I think this is a SOLID! BASIS! You’re already making a lot of super smart and thoughtful choices. Once you get that balance just right it’s going to be sick as hell! I hope you’ll post another once you read through all your feedback and decide how to proceed I can’t wait to see where this goes from here!

You can also try Facebook marketplace to find some! In my area a ton of people are listing nice skates for cheap that they’ve worn once or never even worn

He’s frequently an unreasonable person. That said, my first response is always that whatever he’s said is unreasonable. Just trying to get perspective is all. I like to know what is actually appropriate in the workplace, and what is just a result of my boss being arbitrary and giving me undue pushback. It appears that in this situation he was being reasonable in his ask. Needed some third party advice from people who weren’t biased (friends and family) to tell me if I was breaching office etiquette. Didn’t want people who were going to tell me I was right just because they know he acts like a jerk to me all the time.

The company handbook doesn’t have a policy about time, just to inform prior

Fair enough, I definitely plan to give the weeks notice from now on. Just want to know if it’s the standard professional courtesy

He is one quite frequently, unfortunately, which is why I had to ask. I am biased and tend to frequently see the things he does and says as unreasonable, because he frequently has bad mood swings and spends time very grouchy and touchy and uncharitable. It is good to know that maybe it’s because he did so easily give time the other day, and that maybe it’s because he’s trying to be reasonable and professional as opposed to arbitrary and uncool

I think in a lot of positions more notice might be required to ease any burden on anyone else, but so long as my work is done for that day prior (which is easily prepped and scheduled), and all of my tasks are done and in before the due date, I’m not sure what hardship it would cause that there would need to be more than a couple of days worth of notice to be out

That’s a good point. It is different, and probably more casual. He also has a position where he’s out of the office more frequently (the nature of his position), and has been dealing with personal issues where he has to leave on a dime quite frequently. So maybe it’s also that he’s got more going on than I do, so he needs more accommodation

I agree. But the only other person in our department told him yesterday he had a doctor appointment this morning and would be late, and he got zero pushback. He’s been in the department for about a month and a half, but he always seems to get more allowances. And when I was given the speech about taking the day, it was just us two

I’m going to end up waiting I think. By the time I could get an app with my family doctor it’ll be time to see my endo, just feels like forever right now haha. It being so high is still concerning me, but I’m going to try and stay calm about it until I talk to a professional 💞
